My partner and I had three days available to ski/snowboard while in California on other business so we went to Tahoe. Timber Lodge is one of Mariott’s Vacation Properties, so it is not a traditional hotel (no room service, limited maid service, etc.). We were in a one bedroom “villa” complete with a separate living/dining/kitchen space. There was a stackable washer and dryer in a kitchen closet, and in the living room there was a sleeper couch and TV. The bedroom had a king bed, closet, dresser and an in-room jacuzzi tub. The bathroom had a door from the bedroom and a door from the kitchen. All of the rooms of our villa were in excellent condition with the exception of some of the shades, which were stuck in the permanently down position (that being the best of the two choices)! A couple things about the villa. First, I thought, based on its name, that it would be a stand alone cottage, but in reality it is simply a condo in a big building. That’s ok, and the room was very comfortable, but it’s not like you can drive your car anywhere near it. Also, our room was a fairly distant walk from the front desk, in a separate building, but we were very close to a door leading to the pool. We discovered a short cut, of sorts, by walking through the pool area when it was open instead of walking the long hallway with its twists and turns. Again, not a big deal for two healthy skiers, but anyone with mobility issues would want to double check with the hotel in advance about room location. The property’s outdoor pool and hot tub are beautiful. Both are heated in winter — the hot tub to 102 and the pool felt warm to the touch, though we did not swim. The on site restaurant was fun and is popular with the local ski crowd. Plenty of other choices in walking distance. And did I mention that the Heavenly gondola is located directly out the door of the main lobby?! There is a free ski/board check out this door for hotel guests. Could not be easier to get to the trails. While not technically “ski in/ski out”, in all practicality it is. We were extremely pleased with our stay here and would recommend it to anyone. As for the $35 valet parking? So what. Just pay it and move on. It’s unlimited ins/outs, and they have a fantastic automated system for requesting your car. We never had to wait. 5 stars!!

We have not stayed at the Timber Lodge in over 15 years. It was the first "nice" thing put in when they redeveloped South Lake Tahoe near Stateline and built the Gondola. We stayed there 3 or 4 times back then. All great trips. I remember back then that the hotel was quite a bit more expensive than other properties in the area. This time it was pretty reasonable especially for the room size. The hotel is about as luxurious as a mainline Marriott. Front desk staff was polite and expeditious at checkin. We had one of the worst rooms on the property, on the ground floor facing some pipes along a cement wall. Wasn't a big deal as we were hardly in the room during the day and it was quiet (not facing Fire & Ice). However we had a significant plumbing issue with the shower that initially would not get hot, then after being fixed was scalding only, and then on day 3 would not get hot all. I'm giving the hotel 5 stars as they tried to rectify it each day and made good on the issue. The other problem was we did not have any housekeeping service for our 3 night stay. We were told at check in that we would have houskeeping after 2 nights, but they never came and when we called they initially said we weren't getting it, but then someone called back and said we should have. Oh well. The sheets were typical thin Marriott cotton/poly sheets. Lots of lint, bleach smell and just rough in general. Valet was $35/nt but was expedient using an app to get the car brought out. There was some confusion for kids happy hour which we thought was free but was $5 a kid for some cotton candy, seriously? In the end you literally can't beat this place for access to the Heavenly gondola. It's a great value proposition for giving you the feel of ski in/out for a fraction of what it would cost in Utah or Colorado

It’s a no-brainer to stay here. It’s right at the base of Heavenly Mountain, where you’ll jump on the gondola right outside the door of the hotel. It’s within walking distance to everything you need in this area (restaurants, ski rental, shops, etc), so you won’t need a car. Inside the hotel, the facilities are excellent and the service is top notch. My favorite activity after skiing every day was sitting in any of the 4 large hot tubs with a drink. The pool was a great option too if I got too hot in the hot tub. My husband loved the gym, and if we had more time we would’ve attended some of the gym classes! This place is perfect for all ages- we saw lots of young families, and we were here just the 2 of us which worked great too. Location is about 1 hour 10 minutes from the Reno airport. Highly recommend!

It was a last minute trip and they didn't disappoint us. We stayed at a 2 Bedroom Villa, basically it's two connecting rooms with a living room in the middle. We love the luxury of having two bathrooms and all the kitchen equipments. You are paying for the close proximity to everything. Our kids really enjoyed all the amenities, from the pool to the Kids Club and the ice skating rink. Check in was welcoming and it was clean. If you are a light sleeper, the heater and vent is very loud. That's probably the only down side. We only stayed for a night, so valet was not an issue for us. The car got down really quickly. We will def. Stay here again.

We stayed in a two-bedroom villa for five nights. The accommodations were, as always, consistent with the Marriott Vacation Club, with the exception that there was no self parking, necessitating using valet parking, which, although it was a little inconvenient, was very efficiently performed. What was particularly enjoyable was that, literally within steps of its location, the facility is surrounded by, inter alia, shops, restaurants, a movie complex, and a comedy club. We had a great time.

ready for marriott to welcome without the upsell… we are happy vacation club owners and titanium bonvoy frequent visitors. I am tired of the pre check in communication and then the check in concierge driven up selling. you would delight us with a genuine welcome. the property and service speaks well enough on its own. the badgering to get us into an owners update has the opposite effect.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The room came with a washer dryer, fireplace, full kitchen, full bathroom with double sinks, and a table that seats six. The staff is incredibly nice and the hotel room and hotel are kept clean. My only complaint is the bed and pillows. I found both to be a little uncomfortable. Other than that, it’s been a wonderful stay. The hotel is close to many shops and restaurants and within walkable distance to the casinos.

I have stayed at this property for several years and as a Marriott owner, I was extremely disappointed. The main problem was the bed and pillows. The bed was so hard that I felt I was sleeping on a piece of wood. I basically was not able to sleep and decided to check out two days earlier due to exhaustion. The pillows had no firmness to them and you could feel the hard mattress under your head. I literally had to sleep with four pillows for some support. Also, if you are renting as a hotel, you get your room cleaned, if as an owner, you have to pay for a cleaning. Such high hopes for a much needed vacation that fell short
