The location of the hotel is great with it being one block off the main drag of south tahoe. We loved having the brewery onsite as well. The room was cute and clean as well. What we didn't like was that our lights near the bed didn't work, though they were plugged in. The room was incredibly hot, we had to resort to a plug in fan and open windows. The fireplace in the room didn't turn on, we couldn't figure out the remote or settings to turn it on. The parking situation was also less than ideal, there's not enough spots for rooms.

Hotel's Favorite
Basecamp is my favorite, FAVORITE place to stay in South Lake. Hubby and I stayed 2 nights to see a concert at Harvey’s. Location couldn’t be better. You are literally across the street from the entrance to the concert venue. They have a sweet outdoor beer garden with corn hole, live music and local beers on tap. Room was super clean. I’ve stayed places where my feet were black from walking around barefoot. There was none of that here. I’m used to a super firm bed. The bed was a little soft which was a nice change. The pillows were perfection. The decor was adorable. Any place that has a super cute mini igloo cooler to transport your ice in is A+ in my book! Hubby and I ate at the coffee shop in the lobby for breakfast. I had instant oats; he had a potato bowl. Both were so yum and a perfect start to our day on the lake. Coffee was amazing. I almost don’t want to leave this review so no one else knows about this place but us! Stay here…. It’s an experience you won’t regret!

First off, location wuas nice and centrally located. And the beer garden was cool. That’s the end of the positives. This “boutique” hotel is an absolute joke. It is nothing more than a budget motel with an Air BnB facelift. Our room was small (we booked a king room w/ balcony) and had many stains on the carpet. For the price we paid, which was $75 more than our quote, we expected a bit more room. The shower was certainly the worst shower my wife and I have ever experienced, leaking from the seal, and less pressure than pouring out a bottle of water. The tv was laughably small. There were multiple rooms having basically a frat party all night and into the early morning. Yelling profanities and racial slurs, stomping on the floor and slamming doors. The hallways smelled like urine, and there was trash all about. A neighboring room had a similar experience, and a person even walked into their room at 9am, scary. Generally sketchy people staying here, and people sleeping in the parking lots in their car. The staff are lackluster, and not willing to take care of their guests. I cannot imagine we are alone on our experience, and I suggest staying literally anywhere else.

This is the best experience I've had at a hotel. I work for a major hotel company, and have stayed at all kinds of resorts due to the fact, and l my company could use some pointers from Basecamp. I stayed here in January while stranded in South Lake during the snow storms after trying to purchase a car in the area, and had no way back home due to road closures. It was late enough at night that all of the other hotels in the area were closed for the night, and I could not stay at the casinos since I was not 21. All of the staff was so accommodating. They checked me in a little after midnight, and allowed me to use the microwave in their office for the week. The manger offered my stay at a discounted rate, and gave me great recommendations that were walking distance. I found that the beach is only a 5 minute walk away, with some of the best views in town. A 5 minute walk in the other direction gets you direct access to The Village, which has a collections of stores, restaurants, and activities. I will remember this week for the rest of my life, as it was during a highly stressful point in my life, and the Basecamp Team's accomodations really relived a huge chip off my shoulder. A huge thank you to the whole team.

I went for my 40th birthday celebration! My family joined me. We had 4 rooms that were all different and super cute! We had our pup with us ( So amazingly dog friendly!) plus a 13y/o, 3 y/o and a 3 month old along with a handful of adults. It truly was fun for all of us! The grounds are adorable and it is super close to shopping, restaurants (which are all dog friendly!!!) the casinos and the lake! But above all the staff was incredible! Every one was so friendly and kind and went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect! Special shout out to Suzi!!! She was amazing!! She made sure our every need was met! 1000% we will be back!

Had a good time at Base Camp! Matt at the front desk was super helpful and check in was a breeze. We loved the beer garden and fire pits and the very laid back atmosphere. We would definitely return next time we’re skiing in South Lake.

Basecamp is a sweet place to stay. We were greeted incredibly warmly, efficiently and with local recommendations by Matt L. There are multiple hot tubs, the rooms are good condition, and there’s a happening beer garden with live music. Need I say more? For your next Tahoe ski or Lake trip stay at basecamp if you’re looking for a fun place with plenty of adventures to stay at
