I've read the reviews and both extremes are true. The rating depends on your personal preference. It's a 5* place if you prioritize 1) pets allowed, 2) value/bang for the buck, and 3) proximity to Heavenly gondola/shops. For the $, you cannot find a better place that accepts pets and is across the street from the gondola, a grocery store (and Jamba Juice and Starbucks), and trailheads. You can park your car when you arrive and walk wherever you need to go. It's a great - safe, clean, functional - place to sleep, have breakfast, play in their pools/hot tug, i.e. rest in between exploring all that Lake Tahoe has to offer. It's a 1 or 2* place if you're looking for a bougie, spa/mountain retreat. The room we were in was 1/2 way remodeled - bedrooms were redone with new paint, baseboards and LVT/vinyl floors - mattresses and bedding were new. The bathrooms and kitchen are yet to be redone so there's popcorn ceiling, banged up cabinets, tile countertops, cramped corner shower. But, everything works, everything is clean - just need to finish the refurbishment. If you want to luxuriate in a bathroom tub or shower - this is not the place for you. If you want to entertain and cook a gourmet meal - this is not the place for you. We thought all of the staff was friendly and efficient. We arrived right at check-in at 4pm. I was 5th in line, but there were 4 staffers working - I had to wait maybe 7 minutes tops. The staff serving breakfast was also friendly - lots of people were there right at 7am when breakfast opened - everyone was in a good mood, excited to start their day. The hotel seemed to be pretty full with lots of families, children, and dogs - I was worried that it would be loud at night. We lucked out -there were early risers walking dogs, eating breakfast, and getting out the door. It was quiet during the day with activity picking up in the late afternoon - early evening, last walks for the dogs - then quiet all night. All of the pet owners were super responsible. We're coming back.…
We will definitely be back and request the same room (605). It was perfect for our needs. Our party had 2 small dogs and our room was perfect to open the sliding glass door to let them out. The kitchen was moderately stocked but the front desk sent up a can opener upon our request. The room was clean and sanitized. All remotes and kitchen supplies were plastic wrapped. The front desk was very accommodating sending clean towels and supplies to our room (we were there for 5 nights). The beds were comfortable. The location was perfect (short walk to the gondola). The room wasn't fancy but we didn't need fancy.
This place is a hidden gem. For over 50 years, our family has vacationed here. This year, we returned after a 2 year hiatus due to Covid. We were not disappointed. Staff is friendly. Morning breakfast adjustments include more tables, staff serving hot food. Rooms are being updated. What a wonderful vacation!
The front desk personnel was very unprofessional, she said she wasn't a mind reader when i asked a question about the services the hotel acomidated, who talks like that when a customer is upset? She was very rude and didn't help me with what I needed. I am very upset with the service, will not recommend.
Wow, I've stayed in over 300 hotels in my lifetime, and I've to say this was the worst hotel , I have ever stayed in . The air conditioning was super loud , and I don't know what the issue was, but right next to the air conditioning, under the sink it was blowing hot air and it must have been 100 degrees under that sink from the air conditioning. It was 1am when we got back to our room. Otherwise I would have said something. We were afraid it might start a fire , because the trash was also under the sink . Then on to the bed , it was the softest bed ever. Horrible. No pressure in the shower. Do you and your family a favor and move on to a different hotel . I don't write to many reviews, but felt the need to let people know. The check in staff were very nice and helpful. We paid a lot for this room , definitely wasn't worth it…
Enjoyed the 1 bedroom with a large living room and kitchen. This is plenty of space for a family. Great free breakfast, wine/beer social, pools, hot tub, game room, etc. Dated but overall plenty nice and reasonable. Excellent location!
The resort upgraded me to a whole suite with a kitchen. That was great since I was able to buy roasted chicken and eat in the suite. Very nice. The bed was very comfortable. The room was very clean. Outside of the suite was a swimming pool and hot tub. The location was very convenient to the stores, gondola, and Casinos. The people behind the desk were very helpful.
I have stayed here several times over the last 18 years when riding the America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride. I like having a suite because it gives me ample room to assemble my bike. I also like having a kitchenette in the suite. It is a nice alternative from the casinos. It's just off the main drag, so it is quieter but convenient to the town. The staff has always been pleasant and this year actually had maps to the town and hiking areas. Complimentary breakfast was included. They were in the middle of property improvements this year (2022) which were greatly needed, so that was just another nice plus. Will stay there again should I go back next year.
Booked a 3 night stay, got upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite. The resort is in a central location. Free parking and breakfast make it a great deal since other resorts in the area charge for parking. A lot of restaurants and activities within walking distance.
Great service and friendly staff! Each person we encountered from maintenance to front desk to the overnight shift at 6am were friendly and very helpful. They seemed to be proud to work there and interested in the hotel’s success.
