Anantara Xishuangbanna Resort Airport pick-up 600 RMB, nice to be met at the airport. 1 hrs from Jinghong (Xishuangbanna Gasa Airport.) Beautiful location, flowers, nature smells really good, fresh air, sounds of birdsong; even rainy days are charming. Peaceful. Local name: 西双版纳安纳塔拉度假酒店 Local address: 666303 云南省 勐腊县 勐仑镇 Staff friendly, well presented, hardworking, smiley & helpful. Restaurants onsite offer a variety of local, Asian & western dishes. The hotel Spa offers an excellent service, very relaxing. Pool is good, hot & cold areas. Hot chocolate afterwards on the terrace was very much appreciated. Walking (5 minutes) from Botanical Gardens West Gate. Hired a taxi for between 500 - 700 RMB per day to visit local sites.
I revisited this hotel after an amazing time about the same time of the year 2015, in one of the pool villas. My memories to the XSBN Anantara were amazing, and expectations were obvously too high to be met this time again. Reception was friendly and reserved. No special recognition as Anantara member, so was the intransparent (and not written) upgrade policy which left me in the room I booked (whats wrong with that?:) Staff is friendly and tries hard. Garden is maintained average, In my memory it was at a different level 6 years ago The Buggies are really disturbing. its a small place, all perfectly in walking distance. Food quality in the Dai restaurant is high, though a bit overpriced. Pool is clean, so is the Gym. Nice paths and walkways. All in all, comparing the past, a disappointment. Reminds me better to never ever revisit paradise-like places after a few years. I wont come back for sure.…
To start with the positive things: The hotel is basically a subtropical garden. Very green and the gardens are more or less maintained. The rooms are nice, spacious and clean, the stuffing ok. It’s mainly quiet, but they use some carts or trolleys for housekeeping which make awful noise when rumbling over the property lanes. On the negative side, those trolleys make you child waking up from midday nap even when doors and windows closed. Like in most Chinese 5 star hotels they offer the cheapest instant coffee in the minibar. The service in the restaurant is quite slow, sometimes they forget something but the prices are moderate. We fancied to enjoy sunny days and clean air but don’t make a mistake, it’s very smoggy in Xishuangbanna, most of the time 10 till 15 times the WHO limits for smog. (Heard from a botanical garden guide that when the rainy season starts it will not be that smoggy anymore.) So, sun protection is not that highly required, the sun does not get through and the moon is deep red on the night sky. On the pools they offer worn out or broken deckchairs, old or no mattresses and just a few towels, if they are taken or you need one more you need to hunt for staff in order to get some. The hotel changed the upgrade policy before and during our stay so it was confusing for us and they did not let us upgrade even though some options have been available on their booking site.…
Without doubt, the worst 5 star resort I have ever stayed in. The food is terrible (we had hair on one occasion) Breakfast served stale rolls and bread, under ripe fruit and was not monitored/controlled so people were picking things up with hands and couching and sneezing on everything. I appreciate the hotel can't control people couching etc, but especially in the midst of a pandemic - make people wear masks. Tables not cleared away and fruit juice was watered down. Very noisy air-conditioning units around the sight which you can hear across the complex. The areas around one of the the pools isn't cleaned with cigarette butts on the floors and empty nut shells there for pretty much our whole stay. The sun beds are broken with the cushions all frayed and splitting apart. I really have no idea how a 5 star resort can have these out for people, I'm really not exaggerating. Other hotel guests were using drones flying around the pool and our hotel room windows. No comment from staff of the resort asking them to stop until we asked. Our room had issues with electric blinds breaking on 3 occasions amongst other issues. Basically the kind of things you would not expect having paid 220 USD per night. Overall, I would avoid this hotel. Not worth the money at all. A massive disappointment to us considering we have stayed in other Anantara hotels/resorts but this was a truly awful experience for a 5 star resort. In fact, on our last day we found another hotel just down the road which was much cheaper and in the same location - to stay there would be my advice.…
Although this resort is not particularly centrally located, car hire is straightforward, and the drive from Jinghong (Xishuangbanna Gasa Airport!) to the resort is about an hour on good roads - tollways. The rooms are large and very comfortable (our room had a terrace overlooking the river!), the staff are wonderful, and there's plenty to see in close proximity to the resort - specifically the Xishuangbanna Botanical Gardens. But if you just want to sit back, chill out and relax, this is an ideal place to do just that.
Warm, peaceful and a welcome tranquility resort away from the bustling Jinghong City is a well deserved place for great value and local Menglun experience. Great villa experience for a small upgrading charges. Staff are friendly and eager to assist though may require some patience due to lack of English (understandable in most small town where good hospitality operations are located here in Yunnan Province). Breakfast is decent and service are helpful in term when needed additional western style meals. Lunch with Dai food was well deliciously prepared , had roasted chicken, local Dai style noodles and stir fried market vegetables. Villa experience was well valued for a small upgrading fees, large set - up with pool and pergola - similar as to most Thai designed villas. Comfortable bedding and great pillows - no complaint over the well deserved rest. Improvement: - staff engagement, some areas required more maintenance and more guests! Overall there is no major complaint over our stay, it's a valuable Xishuangbanna experience that deserve to better exposure for this quiet and peaceful resort - we discovered this resort when we visited the botanical garden next door! …
Nice ambiance and atmosphere. Nature Bali style suite (we are staying in one room suite, there are 2 rooms suite and deluxe room) with outdoor own pool and indoor bathtub, depending on individual interest. The SPA service is good, with individual steam room (for those who prefer privacy). There are 2 restaurants, one western that serves breakfast & lunch and another one is Chinese that open only for dinner. Anyway you can request for Western menu. Next to this resort is Botanical Garden. You can spend one day in the Garden. Otherwise in this Anantara XiShuangbanna resort they have their own small garden. You can have a nice walk to enjoy the nature good atmosphere.
You should try this hotel , very nice ! It is highly recommended to stay in the hotel. The facilities are nice. The cooking class is interesting and teach me how to choose different vegetables and cook Thai dishes.
We have long wanted to visit Xishuangbanna, a section of Southern Yunna province that is famed for producing one of the iconic teas of the world' Pu'er Cha. Getting there required a domestic flight to Jinhong Airport which is the largest city in the region. It is still an hour from Jinhong airport to the resort. The resort is built back to back with the Xishuangbanna Botanical Gardens which must be one of the largest in the country. It is literally a stroll out the back gate and into the Botanical Gardens. This garden has miles and miles of trails and one can easily spend a whole day exploring the gardens. To our surprise we do not see Pu'er tea trees anywhere we looked. We learnt that they only grow well at much higher altitudes, above 1600m and were confined to several "mountains" where they thrived. The hotel arranged a day drive to one such mountain which was 90 mins by car away. We had a very good time in the village there. Surprisingly, these trees are mostly grown almost haphazardly, springing from the ground in no particular order. Many are hundreds of years old. And they are not giants. Far from it. A 1000 year old tree was barely 15m tall! And don't bother to go to Pu'er City. It just takes its name from the plant and is a big city with no Pu'er trees! Of the resort, it is a grand resort with large villas. Some are with pools. Weather in October onwards is pleasantly cool at nights and in the mornings. We ahd a lovely barbecue by our pool with all the trimmings. Many staff don't speak english too well but are trying very hard to please. The Spa is also worth visiting.…
A bit far from downtown city, needs 1 hour and 15 mins drive. Not all staff's friendly. Asking to add extra bed and towels,no staff can speak English on the phone, just hang up and no follow up. The Thai restaurant is yummy, real Thai taste.
