Great hosts - the guys were amazing. Nice pool and friendly atmosphere. Small hotel so has an intimate feel. Really a great base for exploring Thassos. Location has pros and cons. Pros: Right where ferry drops you off, a good equidistant location for exploring the island by car. Cons: local port is nondescript. You must drive to encounter decent beaches or anything of tourist or historical interest. But that's fine, as most distances are small, and most visitors have a car.

We spend 8 nights in August, for a family holliday. I will rate the pro's and the cons without being too long Pros: - location - the beach is just across the street. Still it could be better kept and some extra sunbeds are needed, close to restaurants and shops, i would rate- 5* of of 5 - cleanliness - i cannot argue that it was clean - 5* /5 - good night sleep - we had a triple room, the double bed was confortable, but the single one not at all - so 3*/5 - view and outside area - view is nice and the outside area is very nice -5*/5 Cons: - hospitality - i had the feeling that the marketing skills of the managers are very good, but they lack experience in making people feel welcomed 2*/5 - privacy - we had one room with sea vuew and even though they had quite hours, still you can hear noise from outside and everything from the hallway, every little step. During the night the outside noise was disturbing as well, so the rooms isolation system needs to be improved - 3*/5 - room size - this is the main dissapointment - in the pictures from social media they show only the bed are, but the bathroom is so small, the room itself is very small and the refrigerator( from our room ) was so noisy - 2*/5. Also, the room needs an upgrade, the walls some repairs and a painting. We had dead moskitos on the walls - breakfast - i would say it could definitely be better, it is not difficult to have a nice and nourishing breakfast, not one bun cut in half, one side with butter and the other one with cheese ( put in the owen) - they could exploit better what Greece has to offer - 2*/5 All in all, i cannot rate this location above average because, even thouhg the guys are working hard, i think they need some extra help to make things as they would want it to be. Value for money unsatisfactory.

Response from Kostis Tzanetis, General Manager at Elektra Hotel
Responded Aug 27, 2020
Dear Alexandra, First of all I would like to thank you for staying at our hotel this August and for taking the time to write a review. We do hope that you and your family had a good and relaxing holiday, which is not mentioned in the review, a review that focuses more on "technical" details rather than the experience itself. At Elektra Hotel we know very well that there is a lot of margin for improvement. We apologise about the dead mosquito (on the ceiling and not the wall), which the room lady and I, as a manager, did not notice. However, as soon as you observed this, you could have let us know and it would disappear immediately. As for the upgrades and the repair, I kindly ask for your understanding that the island of Thassos was locked down until the end of May and we only had two weeks of preparation, meaning: finishing up the construction we had already started in February, maintaining the property inside and outside and, of course, cleaning. Moreover, the hotel is just in front of the sea and issues can arise even after maintenance, a result of the humidity and high heat during the summer months. It would have been kind of you and a sign of good faith to let us know about those issues and, believe me; we would have fixed them in no time. This summer we had to serve the breakfast in the safest possible, preferably non-buffet way, as indicated by the "Health First" protocols. This alone was a big challenge but, admittedly, we still managed to make it nice and fulfilling and absolutely full of high quality Greek products, such as: the original Thassos pine honey, 100% Greek "strained" yoghurt, homemade green and black "sun dried" olives, Protected designation of origin (PDO) feta cheese, pork shoulder ham from a local producer, fresh fruit including 100% organic grapes sweet as honey cultivated by a local winemaker, fresh homemade desserts, and not to mention the fried eggs and the delicious omelettes. This is exactly what Greece has to offer and what we offer at Elektra Hotel in summer 2020. It is very unfair that this is not acknowledged and not mentioned in the review; everybody who is acquainted with Greek products was very excited about them. At Elektra Hotel not only we work hard to provide a nice and renovated hotel, a safe and clean accommodation with high quality sleep products, the finest Greek food and special evening meals, but, most importantly, we welcome our guests with hospitality coming straight from our heart. I have to say that it makes us sad that the generous offer for 75% discounted breakfast to compensate for the Covid test on our own initiative was not appreciated and is not highlighted in this review. This summer we made huge efforts to keep our hotel open and in the most adverse conditions, having to deal with too many new and unpredictable situations, with fluctuating occupancy and only with a small and compact team, however, I believe that we still went the extra mile for you. I hope that despite some issues you overall had a good time at Elektra and that you would choose our hotel again. We would very much want to have you as our guests in the future. Best wishes to you and your family and lots of health and success in these trying times.

It is the third year my wife and I are coming to this hotel. This year amid Covid 19 concern we observed the management and staff attention to sanitary safe practices. That was added to the already known attention to very good service from room amenities, cleanliness, food, with traditional specialties almost every evening, to tidy and clean premises. I was really pleased to observe like in the past years the calm, resolute commitment to quality displayed by the Hotel owners in their constant involvement in every aspect and activity. We have enjoyed our stay at Elektra Hotel besides all mentioned above, for the beautiful position, proximity to the beach and great value.

Great rooms, perfect sea views, top services. It is a local family hotel. They put always customers on first place and provide them best services possible. The room was big enough, very good cleaning, nice pool, tasty breakfast and amazing see views. Beach it is right on front, just for the hotel customers. If you want to fell like you are in a private, quite holiday this is the place!

This is a lovely hotel and when we stopped they made us feel very welcome. There is a nice little pool which is cared for and clean (but closes for a few hours every afternoon). Food is also delicious. The menu is small but the pizzas they make for lunch are brilliant and fresh. Their greek salad is also very good.
