Our first priority was to get a week out of the cold. You can go wrong in Panama during dry season. Weather was beautiful. The fishing was a lot of fun and we had lots of action every day. February isn't the best fishing month but we caught plenty. Rooms are quaint but clean. Food is plentiful and wonderful. You are greeted after a long fishing day with a cool towel, a drink,  hors d'oeuvres and a great dinner. In bed by 9 to get up early and do it all again tomorrow. Unlimited drinks are included!

We are at first a little leery about going to this lodge-it was hard to find info. and reviews on line, but after a good phone conversation with John the owner we were ready to go. When we arrived in David for pick-up at the airport to drive to Boca Chica, no one was waiting for us- and we began to worry that our earlier fears had been warranted- but a helpful tourist police called John who assured us that Carlos was on his way. This short delay was the only glitch in our 4 days! The rooms at the lodge are basic- but clean- and well cooled. However we hardly spent any time in them. We were out fishing 2 days from sun-up to sun down. On another day, Carlos arranged for a water taxi to take us out snorkeling and then for a beach picnic and on the final day arranged for a tour to Boquette. Each day when we returned, after cleaning up we went down to the patio for cocktails and munchies and to watch the beautiful sunsets over the water. Our first day fishing, we got skunked- but not for lack of trying- our captains worked their tails off trying to get us fish. The second day was much better- though we didn't catch a marlin as hoped we did get lots of tune- including one over 100 lbs. that put up quite a fight on light tackle. The food at the lodge was good- except for the day we caught lots of tuna- That day the food was great- tuna sashimi appetizers and grilled tuna- doesn't get much fresher! Boca Chica is a one street town, but if you stay at PSFL you don't need anything else!

Been to this lodge two times. Both times we had the best fishing of my life. I caught tuna over 200lb the first time. The second time we caught numerous 50-80lb tuna all on poppers. Every day upon returning from fishing, the girls had snacks ready to eat. Fishing is from sun up to sun down. Great service and just an amazing place.

After going to PSFL earlier this spring and having a blast with friends I decided to go with my son for the July 4th holiday. We had a blast as this is low season and the property was less crowded. The fishing was unreal completely of the hook! We caught Yellowfin Tuna 150lb, 145lb, 140lb, 95-90lb qty (4), 75-70lb qty (4), 45-40lb qty (4), Wahoo 35-30lb qty (4), Amberjack qty (2), Dorado qty (2), along with other species & Snook qty (2) caught from the dock. Rooms were clean with great working A/C. staff & food was excellent and prepared around the bounty of the sea not just bar food or steaks that you typically see places serving up to the gringos. It was fresh tuna steaks, cevieche, and sushi/sashimi every night! Highly reccomend the Panama Sportfishing Lodge.

Recently spent a handful of days fishing out of the Panama Sport Fishing Lodge in Boca Chica, Chiriqui, Panama. This is a pure fishing resort that is full service & inclusive. Although we drove ourselves to the resort the normal traveler spends a night each way in Panama City and is transported by local plane or van shuttle to the resort. Once there drop your bags and the staff takes care of the rest from food, boats, fishing gear, laundry, etc. it is all taken care of!!! George the all around guy at the resort handles everything you would ever need. They have good WiFi to boot. The boats are large & fast and built with high casting rails for throwing poppers at large tuna or jigging for large Cubera Snapper or Amberjack. The resort has a nice little pool off the dinning area which is well needed after a full day of battling the fish on the Gulf of Chiriqui.
