We were doing a tour around sone castles in the north of Italy. Castello Bevilacqua was our fourth. The castle is very well preserved, very beautiful decoration and has a wonderful garden. Its a big castle, has 4 towers. We were in the tower and we loved it! Service is good and the breakfast is excellent (the best scrambled eggs). We enjoyed a lot our time there.
My husband and I were excited to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary with a stay in a real castle. We could only imagine the level of service at such a place. Unfortunately, Castello Bevilacqua did not live up to our expectations. After dragging our luggage through the gravel lot and to the front desk, we struggled to check in and ask questions. The nice young lady who greeted us spoke little English. She needed all our paperwork just to verify we had a reservation which seemed strange since they only have 8 rooms. After finally getting up to our room, we turned on the air conditioning and tried to relax. The decorations were unique and the bathroom with jetted tub was wonderful. Again though did not luxurious. Our small hotel in San Marino offered robes and treats in every room. The castle is located in a very small town with little to visit or enjoy during the day. We took a day trip on a train to Venice which was fun. There is also a small town called Montagnana which is worth visiting. The best part of the castle was Renzo and his staff in the eating areas. Our daily breakfast and tasting dinners were fabulous. They made each evening a fun event. The castle is very popular for weddings - 4 were happening on the weekend after we left. Many of their large rooms are set up for such events. I’m sure a wedding here is special but maybe not the best for a traveler looking to explore a mid evil castle.…
We stayed at the Castello mid-week for 3 nights. It did not disappoint. We had a superior suite, which was huge, decorated in period furniture, with a fairly small bathroom, but functional. The bed was huge, the ceilings about 25 feet high, plenty of sitting, and writing space. The hotel serves a huge breakfast with an excellent cappuccino, and a luxury dinner is available at an additional price. We opted for that one night. It was excellent, delicious, and much, much too much food for us.....but very lovely. Beds were comfortable, linens good, and the Castello public rooms were interesting and beautiful. While we were there several weddings took place, but we never were disturbed by noise. The Castello is only 3 km from a delightful walled town, Montagnana. Don't miss it. …
We could write a lot about this place, but in short: Great room in the tower, of only seven rooms in total. They have all modern facilities, still without ruining the middle age atmosphere. Wine cellar with wine tasting, well maintained garden. Fantastic food! The couple working in the restaurant was brilliant, with great service mind and knowledge, even when several weddings was arranged. Thanks for a memorable weekend.
When making your reservation put in notes your estimated time of arrival, we had a late check in and were greeted by name upon 10 pm arrival. The Castle gates close at midnight so if you go out late or arrive after this time you will need to call front desk to open gate. Hot tea in room, but kitchen not open late. Beautiful grounds to explore. Awesome food, fabulous full spread breakfast with the biggest croissants we have seen our entire 10 day trip. Stayed 1 night, would go back and highly recommend!
The castle was a beautiful place to stay. The staff was very helpful and friendly and the breakfast was great. The only disappointment was that I booked a specific room, and paid more because I wanted that room. Each room is unique. The booking through Trip Advisor was just for a room category, not a specific room. This was not apparent when booking. There was no way to contact Trip Advisor. This was not the fault of the hotel, but next time I will probably book straight through the hotel.
The castle is situated at the border of the small town. It was a historical monument, and 30 years ago restored from a ruin to a hotel. Today it serves as a wedding venue for the locals. Do not expect any originality, nearly all is new, and executed with limited taste. Food best to be avoided.
We had 2 tower suites and both were beautiful. We arrived on a gloomy, rainy day but there is plenty to see in the castle. We had the wine tasting- it was delicious and a good value. We also had dinner here and it was very good. They have many suits of armor and helmets in the dining room which was very interesting.
We loved staying at Castello Bevilacqua. It was an incredible experience that we’d recommend for sure! It was like going back to the past, to the Middle Ages, making us feel like royalty! They gave us the tower suite that was huge, and had authentic antique furniture, but also all the comfort of a modern hotel, with good a/c, fast wi-fi, power shower, etc.. The buffet breakfast was plentiful, with a great variety of thing to choose from. The staff was very efficient and helpful. The walled city of Montagnana was just 5 minutes away by car, and it’s a must! We were very pleased that we chose this castle as part of our trip through Italy.
We stayed in Gaetano ll suite for two nights and wished it had been longer. The room had beautiful frescoes and antique furniture, with a huge bathroom including a double whirlpool bath. The first night the kitchen was closed but the receptionist was extremely helpful with choosing a restaurant. The breakfast was a varied spread in a lovely little room with so many curious to look at. We had the deluxe wine tasting the following evening, which was held in the wine cellar. Well worth doing. Afterwards we ate in the restaurant. We only had 2 courses and the food was superb, cannot praise the chef enough. The castle is set in lovely grounds with a huge raised garden, the castle has been an experience that I am so pleased we did. All the staff at the hotel were so professional and enthusiastic about the castle it was an absolute pleasure, see you again next year.…
