Visited in August 2015 and enjoyed from first until last minute. Personnel is outstanding. Food is very good, especially to Costa Rican standards. Rooms are basic but beds are good and the views from the rooms terrace are stunning! They offer a lot of activities and the staff on all of these activities are very professional and very knowledgeable about... More

We spent 2 nights in the Maquenque Eco-Lodge end of June 2016. The road is very "bumpy" and seems endless - but definitely worth it! There are save parking lots at the entrance; a boat brings you across the river to the hotel. We highly recommend the Tree Houses, since they give you the real Rain Forest experience. Something which... More

This is a wonderful place to getaway and dimply disconnect and relax. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean, the staff, Vicky, Albert, Chico were phenomenal. Even the kitchen staff were wonderfully helpful. The tree houses are wonderfully designed with an outdoor shower. Definitely not for those who are afraid of heights, but if not, you must experience this lodging... More

We had a long journey here from Tortuguero and the last two hours are on extremely bumpy roads but it was worth it. When you arrive you take a boat across the river (5 minutes) if you have a car you leave that in the car park before boarding the boat. We were greeted by Julio with a coconut drink... More

We stayed two nights in the lodge and it was awesome! Very friendly people with a huge knowledge about the nature and the animals. José, our guide, was incredible. He spotted every animal from far away. Very nice bungalows and delicious food! Definitely recommended. Mario & Sabrina Switzerland

Probably the best place we stayed in Costa Rica - great and friendly staff, great food, excellent guides - and one tour included in the overnight price. We really loved the early morning bird watching tour with Jose!

We have recently spent four nights at Maquenque and loved every minute of it. We are keen birdwatchers and there was plenty of bird life around the lodge and on the trails to keep us very happy. The lodge is a long way from most everything but if you love peace, nature and very friendly service then the long journey... More

We stayed two nights in this wonderful lodge in harmony with the nature. Our bungalow had a perfect view over the lagoon with many birds and caimans. The whole garden and the nearby rainforest were an adventure and we could observe many diffent animals especially birds like toucans and hummingbirds. We got awake by the ear battering sound of the... More

I joined two good friends for four days of birding photography. We had a wonderful time! Julio and Vicky made us welcome at the lodge and were very helpful in arranging my transportation back to San Jose. Jose Luis was excellent as a guide for spotting different birds. Maquenque provides a tranquil place away from the noise of city traffic.... More

The place is incredible... rooms are comfortable and well-equipped. It is surrounded by lakes and nature; great for bird watching. I has a small pool, trails for hiking and the option of canoeing on the biggest lake. The restaurant food and service are excellent.
