Stayed at this location on September 17, 2023. Like nearly all the Marriott properties we have stayed at this location exceeded expectations. The staff was super friendly and helpful and started us off with some welcome M&Ms. Hotel was clean with practical placement of furniture. The breakfast was hot and good and once again we saw the same staff member who welcomed the previous day. I was hoping we could kidnap her to take her on the rest of our travels. If you're looking for a great location to stay in Spokane, a city I don't really care for, this is it. Close to shopping and restaurants. Two thumbs up.

We stayed for 2 nights whilst evacuated from our home for a forest fire. If you book a studio king suite beware. Do not accept rooms 210 or 310. The rooms look out at a wall and there are 2 AC units directly below the window. One of the units is so loud, it sounds like a helicopter is directly outside your window, night and day. We asked reception if maintenance could check out the unit. We were told it was a known issue for units 210 and 310, but nothing could be done about it. The breakfast was good and there is coffee available all day. Parking is free and plenty available. The room cleanliness was disappointing. The carpet had not been vacuumed before our stay. We found peanuts on the floor. The shampoo bottle in the shower had someone else's hair on it, which was gross. We booked the room with MBV points redemption and our invoice had 4 different tax charges. Occupancy sales tax, bed tax, convention and tourism tax and room charge tax called STDO T1 which was $39 per night. The tax had not been shown on our booking email and when we asked what it was, we were dismissed with, " it's a standard tax". No further explanation was offered.

Response from Residence Inn FrontDesk, Owner at Residence Inn by Marriott Spokane East Valley
Responded Aug 28, 2023
Dear Ms. Denise, First and foremost I want to apologize for the unclarifying response regarding your receipt upon checking out. As you mentioned you used points from your Marriott Bonvoy Account for the nights you were here at our property. The front desk agent was correct about those 4 taxes that were applied to each night. The state of Washington requires those taxes be applied to anyone staying at a hotel in the state and those are things we can not remove from a guests stay. With that being said you were not actually charged for anything due to using points for your stay. On the receipt you should see one column of "charges" from each night but in the second column next to that you should see a "credit" back for all of those showing no actual charge. You technically had a "free night" for each time you used points :) As for the noises coming from the HVACS outside of those rooms I can understand how that would make for an unpleasant stay. They are in the process of being replaced because they are in need of it due to wear and tear but I assure you that if you and your family come back to visit us ( under better circumstances) that we will make sure to not place you in either room. Our executive housekeeper is aware of the condition in which you found your room upon checking in. That is not up to our standards and she is taking the proper steps to make sure that a situation like this does not happen again!! I apologize and hope that you will give our property another chance to show you the great guest services we offer. I hope you and your family take care and stay safe. Until next time, Thank you for choosing The Residence Inn :) -Allie A. Front Desk Agent

We booked a two bedroom suite back in January and when we arrived were given two one bedroom suites with no explanation given so our family had to split apart for the few days we were there. Hotel is clean but in desperate need of an upgrade. Decor is very dated and carpet/furniture in room looks old. I do like the dispensers in the shower but one of our rooms had conditioner and two body wash so no shampoo and the other had two shampoo an empty conditioner and no body wash. Complimentary breakfast wasn't that great. One morning there were no hot options other than make your own waffles with only one waffle maker so the line was super long. Location was close to shopping, restaurants, and I-90. Staff was friendly.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We always appreciate the feedback we receive from guests and use it to work towards resolving any issues so that we can provide guests the best experience possible! I apologize that your stay with us was less than ideal, I know adjustments to travel plans can be inconvenient and often times stressful. I am happy to report, however, that our complimentary breakfast has greatly improved since your stay! We have added an additional waffle maker, in addition to, expanding the hot breakfast options available to our guests. Unfortunately, we are an older hotel, but we are also working on making sure that we give it the TLC and updates it needs to be accommodating. I've shared your review with our Maintenance and Housekeeping management teams in an effort to try and get these issues resolved as quickly as possible. We hope that you will consider us for future stays and give us the chance to provide you the premier guest experience you deserve.

Huge room with a kitchen. I love the place so much. Free coffee and hot chocolate is always available at the lobby. Heater in the room works very well. Breakfast is simple and I like the waffle most. Car park is free. Free snack during super bowl. The alarm maybe a bit disturbing.

The room was great for the price and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel accommodated. Allie, Debbie, and Crystal all were extremely helpful as we had a trailer wheel bearing blow out on our way in, they were extremely helpful with anything we needed as we repaired it in the parking lot. We are staying at over 15 hotels on this trip alone and so far this was the best service we have experienced hands down.

Although the facility is older, it is well maintained with beautiful rooms that are very clean. The breakfast was excellent! The grandkids loved the pool, too. I would absolutely stay here again. The location is ideal as it's close to the shopping mall and an easy drive to downtown. For a kitchenette, the price is very appealing even though we didn't need any appliances.

The worst Marriott we have stayed in. We prefer the Marriott chain because we can depend on the quality of the room and the service. However, this hotel didn't meet those standards. First of all, the room wasn't ready and they were going to text me when it became available. Nobody did so I went into the lobby to find out that the 2 employees that helped me were gone. Another girl checked me in and gave me the keys, only to find out it wasn't ready. An employee was shampooing the carpet. She then sent us to another room and said she made a mistake. The room was very dated and had too much, very old furniture. All in all, it was a very disappointing stay and someone from the head office should look into this place. It just doesn't uphold the standards of the Marriott chain.

With the Canadian / US border closed to land traffic because of the pandemic, this was our first trip into Spokane since 2019. Lacking any viable alternative for our family, we booked this hotel again with a lack of enthusiasm for the 6th or 7th time. We were given a room we think we’ve stayed in previously. One thing we did notice was that the sofa bed was different from the one that greeted us in devious stays. Then, the seams in the upholstery were coming apart and stitched up haphazardly. Now, we had something newer in the room. Which is more than I can say for the rest of the furniture. While some of it was older, it is obvious that the rooms need a refresh. From the ancient and loud dishwasher, the fridge that states a normal temperature setting but was much colder, the upholstery welling off the kitchen chairs or the desk drawers falling apart, all I can say is “meh” to this place. Usually, the hotel redeems itself by having great and welcoming staff. This time, I wasn’t that impressed by them. In one instance, I was pushing a full luggage cart towards the front door. A staffer standing in front of the doorway chose not to open the door for me. Rather, she just stepped out of the way and said “Excuse me.” A little remedial customer training should be in order. I am a current platinum level Marriott member with lifetime gold status, so I have some experience in hotel stays. This is one of the poorest Marriott hotels I’ve stayed, and it’s out of necessity that we stay here, not desire.

We spent the 4th of July weekend here just to enjoy the general Spokane area. We stayed in a two bedroom suite. The room was large and comfortable for me, my wife and 2 teen daughters. I really wanted to call out the quality of service. Jess at the front desk was great and have us great local advice on what to do. We needed the bathtub drainage fixed and the hotel took care of it immediately. Very positive experience and we'll be back.
