Nestled in a secluded location, Telunas Private Island is celebrated by guests for its serene ambiance and pristine cleanliness, with a keen focus on eco-friendly practices. The comfortable rooms with stunning views are well-received, boasting details like fresh water and mosquito netting.
Although Wi-Fi and AC are intentionally absent to promote tranquility, the range of activities and luxurious touches are thought to justify the premium price. The staff's exceptional service further enhances the exclusive and peaceful experience at this private retreat.

Detailed Reviews
Words are not enough to describe the serene beauty of the place and the warm hospitality of the staff, whose smiles we'll never forget. The accommodation in the 15 palafitte villas is extremely comfortable, the king bed is great (being only two we did not try the two individual beds in the mezzanine), and the lack of air conditioning is hardly felt since the fresh air coming from the sea and the cooling fan are more than enough. The food is varied for dinner (choice among three main courses) and there is always a vegetarian option, the buffet breakfast is excellent and the salad bar for lunch a welcome variation. Every day a different activity is planned (unfortunately we missed the visit to a local village that was planned for Sunday morning, our arrival day at lunch time), and for the sports lovers there is canooing and row surfing available. Twice a day a boat is going back and forth between the villas and a beautiful, large beach close to the other, less exclusive, village, something not to be missed. We were very lucky with the weather (four almost sunny days) and enjoyed deeply the sea and the swimming pool. One evening they prepared for us a romantic candlelight dinner, a real treat for our wedding anniversary.
All the young staff were extremely courteous and ready to help us in every way we needed, and you realize soon that their participation is not an attitude of circumstance but is really felt.
A two cent suggestion by my wife would be to add a full-body mirror in the bedroom.
We left a crumb of our heart there...
PS. I forgot to mention the SPA facing the open sea, where you can enjoy a relaxing massage at sunset (see picture n.2)

We visited Telunas Private Island with our two kids aged 3 and 6, and both sets of grandparents. We stayed for 5 nights.
The staff are what make this place special. They are authentic, warm, fun loving, hard working and there is something about the team culture that just makes you feel like people genuinely love working there. From the chef to the activities coordinator, the waiters to the receptionists - they all got to know us and our family.
We’ve stayed at amazing beach resorts in other places like Hawaii, Tahiti and Fiji but this one felt different and it took us a few days to figure out why.
It all clicked when we went on the local village tour to Sugi island, a short boat ride away. This is a village of a few hundred families where kids have to go to central village water stations and carry clean water back to their homes. The Telunas guides explained that Telunas employs 80% of their staff from nearby communities like these, providing much needed employment, training and international exposure to these villages. Telunas has even been helping teach English and is also active in revitalizing some parts of the town where you can see a visible impact on quality of life.
Hearing the Telunas folks talk proudly about about their Indonesian heritage and the work the company is doing in the local village, I finally put my finger on what makes this place stand out - it’s the mission of the place to help the local communities that gives everyone from the activities assistant to the chef a sense of purpose.
Don’t get me wrong - we went primarily for a vacation... The pool, the kayaking and paddle boarding were all great. I jumped off the pier a few times. The massage at the spa over the water was excellent. The food was customized and cooked to order each day and sooo good. Fishing was a ton of fun.
... but Telunas is truly a special place and it’s the staff and the mission that made it such a memorable life experience.

There are not many holiday destinations where the staff go out of their way to make you feel like you’re home. This is one of them. Of course it’s also a delightful, charming, beautiful and exotic place to stay for people like myself looking for some quiet contemplation and also for others who may be looking for more adventurous activities.
I loved my stay there. I hope to go back but I will always remember the warmth and friendliness of the staff despite concerns that they may have held privately due to the global COVID19 pandemic. Nothing was too difficult for them, special requests were no problem.
Telunas Private Island is a resort like no other, a very special location, staffed by very special people. Thank you all for making my stay one that I will always fondly remember.

Wow! Our experience at Telunas Private Island was incredible! We were blown away by our experience. We were greeted at the ferry terminal by a friendly staff member who took us on the local ferry to get to Telunas. Once we arrived, we were given a welcome drink and greeted with lunch, while our bags were brought to our room. We had an overwater villa and it was amazing! You can see the water through the cracks in the wood and hear the water. The view from the villa over the sea was amazing and you could lay in bed and just look out and listen to the waves. Every detail was thought of from filter hot/cold water in the room, tea, coffee, little bug spray, oil, and lotion too! There is no wifi, tv, air conditioning and there is no need for it either. There are fans everywhere and the sea breeze cools everything down. The pool was beautiful and so was the island. The staff blew us away with their professionalism, thoughtfulness, and kindness. I have never been so impressed by a hotel’s staff. They constantly checked in with you and how you were doing and if there was anything they could do. The food was excellent! We loved getting to experience different Indonesian dishes, but also enjoy a western breakfast! I have a lactose allergy and the staff were so accommodating and the staff serving meals were aware it ahead of time and I never once had to explain it. There was always another option or a variation of the main meal that I could enjoy! There are different daily organized activities in the morning and lots of other available activities to do throughout the day, we never got bored! The whole time I kept looking at my husband and saying that this place did not feel real! I really appreciated their efforts at being eco-friendly and they have a lot of programs that they are doing to give back and help the community in the area that they are in! I was very impressed. I highly recommend staying at Telunas! You won’t regret it!

As soon as you approach Telunas Private island, you know you are going to love it! The villas over the water are beautiful and in a tranquil setting. All the facilities are conveniently mostly in the same area, and the staff were so friendly and helpful all the time. My children loved doing all the arts & crafts in the kids club which was supervised all the time by a staff member. I really felt like I could relax by the pool/beach, knowing that my children were nearby and having a blast. The inclusive meals were delicious and varied, I felt absolutely stuffed each day! We were a bit apprehensive about only having ceiling fans in the villa and no wifi, but we felt cool enough sleeping at night with the fans on and it was a good opportunity to disconnect from the internet. The children slept in the two single beds in the loft area...I would say it is better suited for children from 4 years + as the ladder/steps are steep to go up to the loft. The spa area is also in a beautiful setting and so relaxing. The transportation arranged went smoothly making it a very easy trip from Singapore. We would love to go again in the future.

Most incredible retreat ever!! The stay and staff were fantastic! Villas were beautiful and staff treated you like royalty. I traveled with my spouse on a business trip and we stayed in the over the water villas for the first three nights, then moved to the ridge villas for a new experience the fourth night. Whether a business conference or romantic retreat, this is the place.
Stepping off the boat you were treated to a cold island drink while you took in the majestic views and your luggage was delivered to your private villa. Each evening a turn down service created a beautiful ambiance in your room and turned down your sheets. In the morning we greeted the sunrise over the water on our private balcony with a French press of incredible coffee restocked daily. Meals were five stars, three courses, and offered a high class mix of traditional island food with a modern twist. We are not adventurous eaters, and everyone in our corporate party loved each meal.
The fourth night we moved to the ridge villas for a different experience. I didn’t think anything would top the over the ocean villa, but the ridge villa offered an entirely new experience! They are located a short walk up a paved path at the top of the island hill. Walking through the double doors we were treated to a panoramic view of the ocean, complete with our own personal plunge pool, outdoor gazebo for conversations and meals, an air conditioned master bedroom, and the most beautiful master bathroom/shower I have ever seen. The architecture blends seamlessly from modern to jungle, often times merging the two.
Both villa experiences were incredible and unique. While the ridge villa offered air conditioning, there were a few more bugs. The ocean villa was closer and we were able to sleep with the doors and windows opener without being bothered by bugs. I would wholeheartedly recommend both (not “either,” but both!)
Last, it is worth mentioning the spa experience was five stars. We enjoyed a 90min traditional Balinese massage in the over the water private villas. It was incredible!

We travelled with two kids, 11 and 8yrs old. As many guests before us have mentioned, the stay is nothing short of perfect. The amenities are plentiful, food is awesome, and overwater villas exactly as what is shown in photos and described by other travellers. Coming from a city-state, we were initially apprehensive about lack of network/ wifi, but the activities kept us busy all day, and it was a good respite from the internet.
What made the experience truly stand out is indeed the staff, who made the whole stay wonderful. Truly attentive to all our needs - when we commented on the mozzies, they offered additional repellent and a mosquito net to be put over the beds. Water dispenser was also promptly changed when the water ran out.
They engaged in small chats all the time and bothered to talk with, play with the children, brought them fishing and had a bonfire on the last night of our stay (think marshmallow roasting, which kids love!)
The sincerity which we felt from the staff was amazing! Sadly, I wasn't able to catch all their names, but I would like to give a shout-out and thumbs up to every single staff we met during our short 3d2n stay. We will be back :)

Giving 3 stars for the breeze there and the layout of the room! The place is beautiful, the rooms are nice and clean, the staff is friendly. I m just sharing how i feel about this place.
It was a real disappointment to the whole experience for me. Firstly the transfer from Batam was in a local ferry Jetty beside the Sekupang in a "BUMBOAT", not comfortable ride at all. Is stated no wifi on the island, but the actual situation there is there is no roaming data at all and no land line. If you need any room service, you have to go to the butler room to ring his bell to ask for anything you need, and worst is he may not be in his room and you can find no one. The food there is also horrible, the beef rendang is so tough and the food was served cold! as it is a private island, it is compulsory to pay and have your 3 meals a day there. And do not bother to feedback anything there, they will get another person and you may have to repeat and repeat your feedback.
I stayed in the Ridge Villa, personally love the layout of the room, if one day they change the BUMBOAT to Speedboat and improve on the food, is a nice island to visit again.
Maybe because i went to Cempedak Private island before this, I was expecting something similar.

Thank you for visiting Telunas Resorts. We were disappointed to receive your review as we strive to provide a memorable experience for all guests. The Melayu Fishing boats we use are to provide guests a cultural experience and to provide a safe and comfortable transit. We actually have used a speed boat in the past and learned the Melayu boat to be more comfortable particularly with waves. Telunas Resorts intentionally does not offer Wi-Fi at either location. This is one of our unique distinctions that we work hard to provide our Guests with a peaceful refuge from the fast pace of life. Due to our remote location, meals are compulsory yet we expect to provide delicious and healthy meals to all of our guests. Based on previous guest feedback, we have been successful in providing quality food in the past. We are sorry your experience was not the same particularly with the beef rendang. We will use all of your comments to continue to make improvements at Telunas. Thank you for taking time to share your experience and for visiting Telunas Resorts. We hope to have an opportunity to serve you again in the future. Kind regards, Team Telunas

If you want a super relaxing vacation with a wonderful beach and the nicest hosts in the world, then you’ll love Telunas Private Island. My husband and I stayed here five nights, which I think was perfect. I wold recommend at least 4 nights. From the moment you are received, you get the friendliest welcome from a super kind staff - shoutout to Dela who helped me through the travel from Batam to Telunas. The bungalows are really beautiful and have everything to make your stay comfy, they give you a slip to ask for additional items like razors, slippers, and more. The food is pretty tasty. I enjoyed trying the Indonesian food. My favorite meal by far was a pasta with a coconut milk sauce called tom yum talay - try it! They had activities everyday.
Something to note is that if you want to do jungle tour you need book in advance and it’s in Saturdays. I was a little worried about having enough snacks but the food was pretty filling and they have fruits and banana chips you can help yourself to in between meals. Make sure to go on the village tour. It was eye opening to see the locals and how Telunas is party of the local culture positively. I would definitely stay here again.

The warmth and hospitality of the staff together with the serenity of the private island sets the right note for anyone looking to disconnect from urban life. An unforgettable surprise birthday celebration by the team speaks volumes of the thoughtfulness of the team. I had a wonderful stay at Telunas private island. A big shout out to Fajar whose sincerity and service during the stay at the ridge villa was impeccable. Bob, the ever jovial friendly man behind the beach bar concocted one of the best refreshing gin ever tasted, thank u Bob and the welcome drink u make is a sweet refreshing welcome for all guests. Aldo, the multitalented humble guy, thank you for ur hospitality, u bring hospitality to another level, thank u for the fishing experience and always being there for the guests. A big thank you to the housekeeping staff who made sure the room was clean and mosquito nets was down every night, the recreational staff for always keeping a look out for the safety of all guests, the kitchen staff for the oh so delightful and delicious meals every day and thank you to the wait staff especially Harry for ensuring all guests are promptly served during meal times. Thank u to Susan and the spa team, u guys work wonders to nourish the body. Everyone in the Telunas team made staying there one of the best experiences.
Thank you all for the wonderful escape from urban life to recharge and nourish the soul! I will surely be back to stay!

They are seclusive. If you don’t want interruptions, this is a perfect place for you. The water is clear, though not the clearest I’ve seen in Southeast Asia. I’d say it’s a great getaway from work.
Not in the eating areas or the villas as far as I Know but there is plenty of beach area. We are non smokers so not the best people to answer.
It rather depends where you are travelling from
Yes, we are able to accommodate vegetarian and other special meal requests (vegan, gluten free, etc). In terms of our guests, we seek to serve and honor all of our guests regardless of their ethnic background, gender, or sexual orientation. We also need to be sensitive to the local culture and laws. For example, we have had to ask some guests to not sunbathe topless to respect the local culture. Although where they come from it is acceptable. We also ask for guests to refrain from extensive public displays of affection. Again to respect the local culture and to respect the other guests. I hope this helps to shed some light to your questions.
