The Pear Orchard Lodge far exceeded my expectations. From the warm, personalised greeting upon arrival to the comfortable beds, this lodge is the best value for money accommodation I stayed in while in NZ. The modern bathroom was light and airy (including a bath!) and the kitchen was fully equipped to cook anything you want. Breathtaking views from every window...

We aim to offer value for money in our casual lodge and it is so nice to hear that you recognized our efforts! We find that providing a well appointed communal kitchen for our guests to self-cater offers a great option to keep the budget under control, as guests can provide their own breakfasts and meals. Of course we are...

I was picked up by Timo (owner) upon arrival and sent off by his wife when I left since I did not drive; so good of them for helping with that. Timo also offerred to upgrade my booking to a bigger room since when I came, there was room available. The place was very peaceful, lots of sunshin, within cycling...

Wow! Thanks a lot! It is awesome that The Pear Orchard lodge left a lasting memory on your NZ trip. This is how it should be and it makes us very happy to get such positive feedback. We do indeed offer free pick ups and drop offs in and from Richmond. And yes, sometimes our guests get lucky and get...

My wife and I booked an ensuite room at the Pear Orchard at the end of our 3-1/2 week tour through the North and South Islands. The initial recommendation to consider the Pear Orchard came from our son and his wife who stayed there earlier this year. We were in the Queenstown area at the time of the recent earthquake...

Thank you so much for your excellent feedback! We find that it can be quite confusing for visitors to the area to pick and choose between the various different tour operators and tour options. We are more than happy to help with our local knowledge to arrange the best and most appropriate tours for our trip. Abel Tasman and cycling...

The highlight of a weekend cycling in Nelson was staying at Pear Orchard Lodge - absolutely beautiful setting, rustic on the outside and stylish on the inside. After popping to nearby vineyards to pick up a bottle spent the late afternoon in bean bags in the garden looking out at the stunning view - idyllic! This place is an absolute...

There's a running joke around the log fire - nobody leaves when they're supposed to, it's just too easy to stay. This is one of the warmest and most comfortable casual lodges I have stayed in anywhere in the world. Timo gets it right in every way - the house is simple without being basic, luxurious without being expensive, and...

This must be one the nicest reviews that we have ever received on TripAdvisor! We are absolutely stoked with our wonderful comments - especially since these are from someone who knows the travel industry inside out! THANK YOU! We look forward to seeing you again in the future!

This was a beautiful lodge in a quiet and beautiful area, but totally accessible to the main centres. The room was clean and comfortable. Our ensuite bathroom made it feel like a bed and breakfast, not so much a hostel as it is advertised on some websites. They have a variety of room types (backpackers vs private but shared bathroom...

Beautiful lodge, quiet an peaceful, but still accessible from main centre. We stayed in the ensuite room - comfortable and clean. The only minor issue was you could hear people downstairs in the kitchen (directly below our room) if enough hustle/bustle. The shared kitchen was very well laid out and had everything we needed. The jar of fresh eggs for...

Thank you for your review and your comments regarding facilities and our fresh produce. We actively encourage our guests to be mindful of other guests in the evenings and to keep noise down after 10pm. Generally we find that this works really well.

This was a great little get away. A big bed that was very soft and comfy. The room was very clean and tidy, and surprisingly warm - which was perfect as the nights were very chilly.. Big living area to chill and a deck with plenty of sun. Very friendly owners, who are always happy to chat.

Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. We're glad that you enjoyed your stay and noticed the effort we put into insulating the lodge and orienting rooms towards the sun when we designed and built the lodge. Come back with your family some time!

This lodge is a great little get away – full of character and country charm, yet a functional and well designed space. Bed was comfy, room was superbly clean and warm. Favourite parts are chicken, geese and lambs that live in the surrounding paddocks! Very cute!
