Detailed Reviews
We stayed at Mapua for one night, and really wished we had booked a few extra nights here. First of all, Andy and Karen are great hosts - though we arrived late at night, Karen came to greet us and made really helpful suggestions for our next day ahead, and the next morning, Andy stopped by to make sure we were taken care of.
We found the chalet nicer than expected, and just really enjoyed the serenity of the area and the amazing views! I happened to wake up early enough to see the sun rise and the views were particularly beautiful since Mapua is up on a hill. We loved the little picnic bench outside our room and took advantage of it by having our morning coffee outside.
Another plus is its location. The chalets are just a little bit away from a quaint little town which we didn't have a lot of time to explore other than to have breakfast at the wharf. We wished we had more time to see more of the wharf - there were a few art shops, an ice cream/sandwich shop, a restaurant where we had breakfast and I think, a brewery. Also it's close to Abel Tasman which made it easy to get to when we left to go there in the morning. Will definitely come back on our second NZ trip, and also take Andy's advice and explore Golden Bay on horseback!

My husband and I stayed at Mapua Chalets for 5 weeks ın Nov 2010, whıle doıng some local landscapıng work. The Chalets are rustıc lookıng and clean, wıth all the amenıtıes needed for a comfortable stay that don't leave you feelıng out of date. ıe WıFı, flat screen tv, BBQ etc. Durıng our stay they were just fınıshıng the pool area, but we were stıll able to enjoy ıt. The prıvate spa wıth an ıncredıble vıew was memorable. The Chalets are a short bıke rıde (whıch were lent to us) or drıve to Mapua whıch ıs a great lıttle town to wander around ın.
Andy and Karen are amazıng hosts! If we needed anythıng ın our chalet they were very prompt on gettıng ıt for us but were never ıntrusıve. They are so proud of the area they lıve ın and know ıt well; they planned many thıngs for us to do whıch was nıce because we dıdn't have alot of spare tıme. Thank you for makıng our New Zealand trıp amazıng...
Sorry guys ıt took so long to wrıte a revıew as we're stıll on our around the world trıp. Hope your well....

Superb, worth every cent.
If you find availability snap it up, it's hard to find such good value for money in such a superb location, with superb facilities too. Try the spa as the sun go down and the stars come out over the bay with a chilled glass of the local sauvignon blanc = sublime.

High expectations from all reviews, but we ranked it the worst accommodation of 14 places we stayed in NZ. Sure location is good, hot tub and pool, but chalet was pretty tired and run down with broken pots and kitchen needed a facelift., shower pretty basic miserable affair. Sitting and bedrooms needed refurb or good clean and dirty laundry room. Experienced much better for less.

So sorry to hear you were not totally satisfied with your stay here. You can be sure that we will address the issues you have raised and appreciate this feedback. Sometimes too many great reviews can raise expectation to an unrealistic level for the price bracket of the accommodation. Thanks for the reality check! Regards, Andy and Karen.

The Chalets are located in the heart of Mapua Village, very close to restaurants and cafes and perfectly positioned for exploring the region. It takes 25-30 minutes to drive to Nelson and Motueka/Kaiteriteri. The cabins are rustic but cozy. Showers are hot and water pressure is perfect. The kitchenette has a full gas range with 4 burners. We met our host Andy and were really impressed by how sweet and friendly he was. A very nice guy!
We truly enjoyed our stay there.

There are some positives & negatives to this property.
The pool & spa are fantastic - the highlight for our family. Because of its location it is secluded & quiet & there are some nice views, but only from certain spots & the surrounding bush is quite overgrown. The grounds were not exceptionally well kept & likely if owners were onsite more this may change. For our family of four the Chalets were too small. There wasn’t sufficient seating for evening TV watching. The 2nd room (with a double bed) was very small. The other downfall was there was no cooling. The owners very kindly offered a fan, however in the summer heat it was uncomfortable at times. The rest of the chalet was sufficient, although a change of both bathroom & kitchen towels on day (3 of 5) would have been nice. Overall it was ok but we would look at more options before choosing to stay again. A nice break all the same.

There was no one at reception when we arrived to check us in, just a piece of paper with our name and room number attached to the reception door which was very odd.
There were a few small issues that when we tried to call the numbers left on the piece of paper at reception were not answered for a while. Not your normal check in process.
The pool and views were great and very relaxing.
Be sure to buy your food and alcohol before you arrive as it is a drive to Motueka or the local Township but check when the shops close.
There was no one to be found at checkout very odd once again.

Hi Nicole, Many thanks for coming to stay and for your review. Delighted you loved the pool and the views and that you found your time here very relaxing. Sorry we didn't answer you message immediately. We do try answer as quickly as we can. As a very small boutique self catering establishment we unfortunately cannot man our office throughout the entire day and as as guests arrive within an 8 hour window each day we leave a welcome note for each guest. We then try hard to establish contact later that day, or the next day if guests have gone out exploring the area. We are normally in the office in the morning from 8.30am -10am.

We had the pleasure of staying here for 5 nights. The chalets are very well equiped, clean, quiet and comfortable. Every thing you need for a great stay, BBQ, laundry and delightful hosts. The swimming pools are a delight to relax in after a day out hiking Abel Tasman or Whaririki beach. Mapua is an absolute delight. We had no idea it would be this pretty. We filled 4 whole days and could have filled 4 more there is so much to do. One day was a cruise hike through Abel Tasman; this is truely a must do.
Nice job guys

Only stayed a night as just passing through. Chalets are a few kms inland from Mapua, not really walking distance from the village. As they are up a hill the views are amazing of the sea and the lights of Nelson. Each chalet is separate and reasonably private. Very clean and you are able to be self sufficient, even got a full size oven/stove. The pools are lovely, it was quite hot during our stay so we made good use of the outdoor pool (heated). There is also a indoor pool and a spa. Owners lovely and approachable if you required anything.

Visited here last night with our two small children. They LOVED it and so did we. Amazing pools ( one indoor , one outdoor ) plus a spa, lovely clean chalet with WiFi, and an awesome view. The owner Andy was super friendly and helpful too. Wish we could have stayed longer, we will definitely be back. Best accommodation in this price range that we've stayed in in NZ.
