Visited the restaurant only so cannot comment on the hotel. The restaurant within the hotel is open to non residents and has a lovely location, amazing food but slooooooooow service - 2 3/4 hours for lunch. Really?! Had to leave without the desert at 2.45 having arrived for a 3 course lunch at 12.10

We spent one night here in a very comfortable room. The staff could not have been better, nothing was too much trouble for them. The dinner however was in my opinion quite poor. We were on a Sunday night special, which included one nights bed, breakfast and evening meal. The meal was the basic dinner,no choice , or to upgrade... More

We had visited on a wet winter weekend but had promised ourselves another trip in better weather. By sheer luck we managed to pick the two best days of summer so far. We had persuaded friends who had never visited to join us. When we arrived we were welcomed back warmly. We had booked a deluxe room this time (... More

We came here for afternoon tea with champagne and were not disappointed. We have previously been to The Ritz in London for afternoon tea but Gravetye Manor left them standing. Beautiful sandwiches, homemade sausage roll, scones and cakes. A table had been reserved for us on the terrace in the shade, it was a blistering hot day. The afternoon tea... More

Enchanting Manor property in the Sussex countryside where nothing is too much trouble for the efficient but friendly staff. It was a lovely summer weekend for our stay which enabled us to walk around the lovely grounds. We couldn't wait for dinner having admired the array of fruit and vegetables grown on-site in the Walled Garden. Attention to detail was... More

This is one for a really special occasion. The house and gardens are amazing and you can tour at your leisure before your meal. We had a pre-drink and walked around the walled garden to see what might be growing for our menu. The £67 3-course meal was unbelievably tasty. We had the John Dory fish - others had veggie... More

A lovely old building in a charming setting, we chose a Saturday lunch to try the Gravetye Restaurant. First impressions are very good. The welcome at the door and an invitation to take drinks on the lawn - all lovely. Staff all appear very friendly and professional. We take our seats on the lawn, nibbles and the drinks menu are... What a fabulous place. We went for the gardens, which were spectacular, but hadn't anticipated such stunning food. We went for the two courses at £28 each and were not disappointed. Firstly, our waiter, Stephen, was splendid. His delight at serving us, passion for the dishes and knowledge of the menu was faultless. The food was delicious, subtle flavours but... More

Gravetye has to be the most beautiful hotel in Sussex and so special, to stay at or just visit for dinner. Recently awarded a Michelin star I wouldn't say that the food was better than last year, but it is well deserved as meals here have always been excellent, with much of the produce from their own gardens. Just a... More

We had a little trouble finding this restaurant, but once we did - what a very special establishment it turned out to be. They were filming there for a BBC food programme- they had called us and advised of this and that we could have re booked if we wanted to. All the staff from the two that opened our... More
