Valena Mare is a new complex with deluxe studios & apartments on the largest island of the Cyclades, Naxos. Naxos has a long history and splendid mythological past, and is the greenest island of the Cyclades. It is the most popular tourist destination not because of its proximity to Athens, but for many natural beauties, traditional villages, archaeological sites, Byzantine churches, monasteries and unique sandy beaches. Our studios are just 200m from the sea, on the sandy beach of Plaka with the incredible crystal waters. Our location is only 8 km from Chora, the capital town and main port of Naxos, and 6 km from the airport.

We have just left Valena Mare after a beautiful six night stay. The hotel is very small which gives a real sense of luxury, particularly as the rooms are so beautifully designed with gorgeous decor. We are a family of five and our room had a large bedroom area, second bedroom with bunk beds and a lounge / kitchen area too. We were nervous about being able to travel because of Covid restrictions but Elena was very reassuring through her email correspondence and once we arrived was the perfect host for our stay. She is very lovely and a huge credit to the hotel. The pool area is equally stunning, with large daybeds and cushioned loungers. Everywhere is spotlessly clean and felt very covid secure. Breakfast is freshly prepared and you are able to choose from a large selection of Greek, English or American style dishes.
Plaka beach is a short walk away from the back of the hotel and this beach is stunning, white sands and clear, shallow water. The first beach bar you reach is called Medusa and we enjoyed the food and drink here, along with the stunning sunsets. We would also recommend hiring a car to explore Naxos more as there are lots of beautiful braces and historic sites to visit.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely return. In fact we have already spoken to some friends to recommend and see if they would like to come back with us! Thank you for a relaxing holiday.

Absolutely beautiful family run hotel. The room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was fabulous. Elena couldn’t have done more to help from booking transfers, car rental and horse riding. The accommodation is a short walk from the beach and about a 20minute walk from restaurants. The pool was clean and enough sun beds for everyone. A fabulous place to stay.

We stayed here for 4 nights and loved our stay here. Elena and the team were very friendly and helpful, providing lots of useful information when we arrived and were happy to help us rent a Quadbike etc. Overall they were excellent hosts.
The hotel was spotless and clean and our room was great - beautifully decorated and felt very private. It had a small kitchen which worked well to cook some of our own meals. The hotel is surrounded by a lovely garden and the pool was fantastic.
The hotel is located outwith the main town, which was easy to get too by quad/car or by bus, which meant it was very peaceful and the beach by the hotel much more quiet compared to other spots.
Naxos and Valena Mare were some of our favourite days in Greece and we hope to return. I would highly recommend if you are visiting Greece!

This is a quiet hotel in a peaceful location. The room (103) was large and airy with a great view of the pool and the sea in the distance. The pool was lovely and never busy. Elena, Debbie and Winnie went out of their way to look after their guests, always with a smile.
The hotel is down a dirt track and about 300m to the south end of Plaka beach. There’s a lovely hotel with a pool bar there to watch the sunset and about 25mins walk along the sandy beach to the restaurants.
We didn’t have a car. It would have made life much easier!

This wonderful boutique hotel is located at the far southern end of Plaka beach..quiet peaceful and relaxing .. lovely gardens & pool. It was perfect ! The room was lovely too with small kitchenette and v good shower . The hotel has a small bar for drinks during the day & is next to Medusa hotel which has a fab beach bar & restaurant right on beach which we visited daily for sundowners and dinner .. nearest supermarket is 1.8km away - where there are a number of bars & restaurants.. we just loved the tranquility of the hotel. Plaka beach is 2/3 min walk and is gorgeous too .. this part of the beach is the quieter end which suited us.

Here we found a peaceful residence, decorated with taste, very close to the sea (3 min by walk). Elena and the team are very welcoming, provide you with all information you need to discover Naxos. She recommended a great restaurant in Plaka for our first night on the island, it was a great discovery.
Thank you again for having us!

Might be a lovely property but the location on the TA map, various hotel booking websites, the property's own website and Google maps is very misleading.

It is not on the beach and is not walking distance to the shops and tavernas on Plaka. Beware.

We stayed here nearly 2 weeks mid May when the season is about to start. Therefore there are not that many restaurants arround open. Saying that the place is a so lovely silent refugium were you can relay and enjoy the silence. Elena who is running the hotel is a diamond-so freindly and helpful all the time We really miss her. They have nine appartements/Studios which are quiet individual styled. The pool is not that big enough to have a daily swim and also not that much chlorined as I remeber from other pools. The dog in the meantime is no longer running arround - just closed in the private are. if you look for something very relaxing you should consider this location which lloks a bit in the middle of nowwhere but you have within a short walking distance some restaurants arround. The way to the beach is about 3 min walk and was in May nearky empty. You might consider a car or bike as the next supermarket is a way to walk. However the rooms a daily cleaned and towels changed every two day. They also provide towels and umbrellas for the beach or pool. We really enjoyed the place and surely will come backl again at some point.

The owners of this secret gem, Elena and her parents made me feel special during my one week stay. A friend found this lovely apartment like property for us and shared a two bedroom suite/apartment filled with amenities of kitchen facilities, balcony to hang clothes after washing, everyday cleaning, amazing breakfast with local fruit, yogurt and greek coffee. Our breakfast was included, We rented a car and ventured to many of the villages in the mountains. Although the terrain was challenging at times, our goal was to experience and explore this island of ecological bliss. Valena Mare is off the beaten path and that was our preference. We thought that the main roads were fine. Each village had its own charming shops and some of the villages had restaurants that are mentioned in the best restaurants of Naxos lists. Getting to these small villages was a treat filled with picturesque views. The food was amazing, both fish and meat, Normally i limit my meat intake, but everything on this island is farm to table. The prices of everything are quite reasonable. Their local wines in Naxos are impressive. Their Ouzo is of fiine quality and 1/3 the price in Athens, as is everything else. We flew into Naxos. Elena will pick you up, but you should rent a car after arriving and have it delivered upon your arrival or after you have rested on this lovely property , filled with manicured vegetation and a swimming pool setting that is outstanding with the backdrop of the mountains and the sunset.
If you are not adventurous or prefer action 24/7, stay in Naxos Town. I went to the "city" twice, it was nice, we preferred the beautiful beaches not very far from Valena Mare. We arrived before the season really starts on May 15th. And, that will be my preference when I return to this fine property.

I miss Eleana and her parents already.

We stayed at Valena Mare for 8 nights in July 2009.
It's about 5mins walk from Plaka beach, which is a beautiful white sandy beach, probably one of the best I've seen in the island. It's not very crowded either, when compared to other beaches closer to Naxos city.
The rooms are spacious enough, with a fully equipped kitchenette. They were cleaned everyday. Our balcony was huge and we could see the beach and the islands of Paros from there. Sunsets were also amazing from there.
The owners of the studios and staff are all so nice and helpful. They picked us up and dropped us at the port, they also took care of our car rental and were always willing to help whenever we needed.
On the downside, the studios are a bit far from supermarkets and restaurants. There's a hotel directly on the beach which has a bar and restaurant, but other than that the closest minimarkets and tavernas are quite far, they're about 20mins walk along the beach.
Other than that, eveyrthing else is amazing. If we go back to Naxos, we will definitely say there again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a sandy beach with beautiful surroundings.
