The hotel was simply exquisite, offering impeccable service beyond our expectations. From the stunning views, the pristine pools and beach to the delightful cuisine, every aspect of our stay was top-notch. My family thoroughly enjoyed every moment. A special thanks to La Grande Madame for her graceful presence and unwavering attention to her guests' needs.

We stayed here for 2 nights. The views and beach are gorgeous; sunset from the beach is exquisite! Sunrise from the upper pool with my coffee was a beautiful way to start the day. The rooms are nice sized, but a bit dated. Comfortable and very functional. The restaurant was overlooking the beach, which was very nice. Lots of monkeys on property, both white-faced and howler, which will be an alarm clock! Beautiful birds, too…2 scarlet macaws flew over a few times. Nice hike to waterfall that goes right into the ocean.

Lovely beachfront resort. We stayed in the private tiki hut-a few issues with wobbling ceiling fan and broken gfi which were repaired quickly. The pool restaurant was good-main dining restaurant was okay. Front desk went above and beyond with service and assistance buying ferry ticket and any questions we had. Saw macaws and howler Monkeys on the resort property. Just a lovely spot !

I went at Tango Mar last year in september. I was the only single voyager in a group of couples. Very beautifull location, very good food; but as a single voyager I felt not so welcome. The leading lady, Hilde, went the first evening at the bar to welcome everyone, have some small talk, but skipped me. Even the following days she avoid me, and when I entered the reception desk, she always disappeared in her office right behind the office desk. By leaving the hotel, she said googbye to everyone, except tome. So my conclusion is: singles not welcome. Patrick.

This hotel is beautiful, with great service and very nicely appointed rooms. There is one solid reason that this is not a five-star review, and that's the road to the hotel. Once you leave the highway, the "road" is a dusty, forked, rocky, potholed dirt path with very poor signage that goes on for a kilometer. Google maps took us down a wrong fork in the pitch black at 9:30PM and we struggled to find the right way. It was by chance that I spotted the faded, dust-covered sign. They desperately need to pave this road. Once you actually find the hotel, it is excellent. The rooms are hardwood with modern A/C, ceiling fans, clean facilities, everything you would expect from a high-end resort. The pools are nice. The beach access is excellent. The restaurant and bar are well-appointed. The staff is excellent and friendly. Definitely the nicest place we stayed in Costa Rica. The grounds are full of wildlife, from scarlet macaws and other parrots, to monkeys, raccoons, leaf-cutter ants, songbirds, hummingbirds, iguanas... Parrots are a delightful, if early, alarm clock. The crashing waves are a lovely way to fall asleep.

If anyone was to list the keys to a wonderful tropical vacation they would include a beautiful setting, great accommodations, friendly staff, good food, and interesting things to do. Tango Mar has it all. We have been here for over a week and leave in a couple of days and joke about how busy we have been: walks before breakfast, hanging out under a cabana by the ocean reading, swimming, lunch, taking a nap, swimming and reading some more, clean up for dinner, and having a wonderful dinner on the deck. We rented a car at the airport in Liberia to get around and explore. Two days ago we went to Montezuma for the zip line canopy tour. Big fun. Then to the Butterfly Brewery nearby for lunch. We highly recommend Tango Mar.

I took my husband here to play golf on his birthday. We bought beers at the bar near the reception, rented clubs and had giant smiles on our faces. Off we went to play golf teeing off around 9:30am...it took us awhile to make sense of where the course began and the confusion didn't end there. My husband plays a lot of golf and he said it was the most confusing course he had ever played. It didn't matter though. We were the ONLY people on the course the entire day. It was awesome!!! We honestly would have rated this place as excellent based on our golf experience alone. Halfway through our play we went back to the bar for more beers. The staff even prepped a six pack in a bag of ice for us to take back to the course. (The course is a ways away from the hotel so if you do not have your own transportation you would absolutely want a cart rental.) Since we were the only golfers on the course we took our sweet time. We even practiced our chipping game on the 6th hole and laid in the grass by the 7th tee. It was really amazing to have the course to ourselves and were honestly talking about getting a membership since we live only 30 minutes away for about 8 months of the year. We finally wrapped up our play around 2pm and headed back to the hotel restaurant to cool down and have a couple more frosty beverages. After a swim in the ocean I got changed into clean clothes while my hubby went and ordered us some more drinks and hopped in the one of the three gorgeous pools next to the restaurant. I sat on the edge of the pool with my feet in the water near the swim up bar. We were having a nice conversation with an older retired couple from Denmark. This is where it all went downhill. Staff came over to start setting up the swim up bar and inquired if were staying at the hotel. I explained that we were here to play golf and have dinner for my husband's birthday. She said that didn't matter and we couldn't use the pool and began kicking us out of the pool. My husband was not impressed. We weren't being loud or rude or splashing. We were sitting down in the pool having a nice conversation with guests. I understand the staff following the rules made by management. What I don't understand is the business decision behind alienating paying clientele. We had already spent upwards of $150 USD and planned to stay for a birthday dinner (another ~ $100?). My husband and I own our own mini-hotel in Costa Rica and we could never picture being rude to anyone who just spent $150 at our establishment. Before the pool incident we would have been recommending this to all our future guests as a must-go place to experience. Needless to say, we did not stay for dinner and we won't be sending our guests.

Just returned from Tango Mar, having completed our eighteenth trip to Costa Rica. We were received at reception sometime around 7 p.m. by Hilda, the owner/operator, who is very much hands-on in charge and always around, making her well-cared-for guests feel welcome and at home. The test of a successful venture is whether its employees are happy, and this place passes with flying colors, obviously due to Hilda who they all love. She built and expanded the place, running it with obvious love for 25 years. We found the facilities, accommodations, food, and service all just fine and enjoyed our six days immensely. Above all, the Tango Mar property and setting are beautiful, with the Ocean panorama always within sight and sound. Tip: We are old (some may say "ancient") and recommend arranging in advance to stay in accommodations suitable to your physical condition. We had a stair problem, which Hilda immediately remedied to our satisfaction. In short, we were lucky to find Tango Mar and would do it again in a minute.

Amazing place. Stunning view from the windows to the ocean. Delicious breakfasts. Exceptionally nice and helpful staff. Special thanks to Jordy and Rosy. Good restaurant. I recommended gazpacho. A welcome drink is a nice gesture. You can see whales in the area.
