Our stay was just overnight as we had travelled down for a funeral in the village next day. Easy to find with good signage and plenty of parking. Inside we were met by a friendly and helpfull member of staff who took care of us and showed us around. The decor of the restaurant was a bit spartan but tidy... More

Stayed here for 1 night after a 6 year gap. Bedrooms are looking a bit tired and tatty. House keeping not very effective, old dvd's and batteries left in chest of drawers. No hair dryer and had to get reception to fix tv as not working correctly. Lights in shower not working and very awkward to access. On a positive... More

We went to the Mezze for a meal with friends, WOW! A fantastic choice of three dishes for a fixed price of £12.25. The service and ambience was great. The food was completely delicious ,we are so happy to find a restaurant that is great value, and to end the evening feeling that we have not spent over-budget. The tall... More

Stayed as a family, most of the bedrooms needed a lot of tlc. No mattress proctors provided. Dusty furniture, ledges & dirty marks on walls. One room's tv only showed 4 stations out of 10. Room one's bath floor, smashed tiles, only half of the bathroom lit mirror illuminated. The shower tiled wall requires a good scrub, not acceptable. Good... More

Handy for M5 and Lulsgate airport. Stayed 4 nights in comfortable room with very enjoyable though not massively varied breakfasts. Enjoyed meals in the restaurant there on 2 nights ( see separate review)

I want to be more positive about this place because the staff are very good. However, the rooms, whilst mostly clean could do with a bit of tlc. The bathroom was nice and clean with a decent shower but the bedroom was a little tired. Whilst the bed was comfy, the bedstead could be seen and was looking very old.... More

Stayed for 2 nights whilst on business in the area. The room was nicely furnished and decorated, good hospitality tray, bathroom had a shower and nice toiletries. The hotel is on a busy road and junction so the rooms at the front of the hotel had a little traffic noise. Breakfast was good although some fresh fruit would be nice... More

Had a meal here on a Thursday night. Not too busy, but didn't feel that was a problem. There is an offer of three courses for £20. There is a great menu, lots to chose from and all within the price. The food was good, hot and delivered fast. The staff were attentive and willing to help. We were only... More

Went for dinner while staying close by. We had never eaten this style of cuisine before but were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the service and the food we were offered. It was lovely and we would go there again.

As an IT Engineer working 16hrs shifts and driving thousand's of miles, having a comfortable hotel room is a need. @ the ship and castle you can be guaranteed just that. Plus helpful and friendly staff, good food and great atmosphere. Ample greenery for quiet long walks too.
