From the moment the boat arrives at the island the beauty hits you. We stayed in the ocean view villas which are all very well equipped water villas. Step out of the villa doors to your own private sundeck which leads down to pristine waters full of colourful fish. Snokels and kayaks are free to use and there is also... More

This place was fantastic! Stayed 5 nights, after doing a 10 days track through Sarawak. Stayed at the ocean villa, it was amazing! Food was great. Spa, was fantastic too. I did a cooking class with chef AZIZI, it was great. All stuff was super friendly and very helpful! I didn't want to leave this little paradise!

Of all the resorts we had booked on my Borneo Trip, this was the one I was most looking forward to. A luxury Eco Resort with water front villas just oozed thoughts of paradise. Unfortunately it did not quite live up to my expectations. As we came into the resort by boat I was praying this was not where we... More

My and wife and I travel every year and this is the best time we've had in a location that is simply paradise. We stayed at the Gayana Eco Resort for 5 days in an over water villa that you can walk down to the water and immediately there are marine life and fish every where. What an unbelievable experience... I was so disappointed by my stay here that I wanted to be sure that other travellers came with their eyes open. At this price point, I expected something much better. 1. The room - We stayed at the Palm Villa which is supposed to be the nicest class of room at the resort. The room is huge but the... More

Gaya island is a beautiful resort nestled off the coast of Kota Kinabalu. We flew in from Singapore (my wife and her sister) and we were amazed at how easy it was to get from the airport to the resort. They made it seamless and the total time was an hour or less. Kudos to them for making it that... More

Very relaxing atmosphere and super friendly staff that makes you feel welcomed at every minute of your stay. The kids loved the snorkelling and the MERC centre and although the wifi was rather poor, they never had a dull moment. Only downside are the rather exuberant drinks prices, i.e. 19 Myr for a soft drink and 21 Myr for a... More

We stayed here for 2 nights at the end of our trip to Borneo, and it was a really really great place to finish off. A beautiful resort only a short boat ride from KK. The hotel offers complimentary boat shuttle from the main harbour in KK at 1.30 & 3.30 (not between 1.30-3.30 like we thought.....staff were extremely helpful... More

Many dream of water vila stays like this, and compared to many others I have been lucky to had, and may other locations, this is a hidden gem due to the accessibility, and the cost. By resort standards it is nothing amazing, and below par. My room didn't appear clean upon arrival and I got the impression it was very... More

We spent two nights here at the end of a busy three weeks in Borneo. We were a party of 4 and had two villas. We had initiallybooked lagoon villas. On requiring about upgrades we were given a tour of different rooms and eventually decided to upgrade to two ocean villas at a cost of 400RM per room per night.... More
