I don't even know where to begin with this review because my experience was so amazing it is impossible to describe in words. I have split it up in several sections:
Location: Far away from the city centre, this place is secluded and has the best views (in my opinion comparable to the Chandragiri Hills). You wake up to the view of the Himalayas every day and the fresh crisp air without all the soot and pollution from the city. There are some interesting places to explore nearby, like a Japanese Buddhist temple, the cable car rides etc. This place is just a safe haven in the middle of a forest and quickly allows you to connect with nature.
Facilities: I lived in the single room and the mattress was so soft. There was heating inside the room (it was pretty cold in January) and really hot water for a great shower. Everything was super clean and I have nothing to complain about the rooms! There is a dining hall/ common room where we share our meals. I adore chatting with other travelers and the hosts, it feels very homey and is a great place to work (if you need to). There is also a large table on the terrace which is perfect for sunny days. The yoga hall is beautiful. There is a large mural, is well-equipped and has the view of the Himalayas. I love how detail-oriented this place is, they provide you with everything from blankets for meditation, to unlimited tea and coffee for a pick me up anytime.
Food: The vegetarian food they served is absolutely delicious. There is great variety and was also very nutritious and balanced. I adored every meal, there was a good combination of Western food (yoghurt, muesli, hummus, salads) and traditional foods (Momos, puri, rice). It is very healthy and never boring or repetitive.
Activities: I came for the five day retreat and attended a few yoga courses, got introduced to reiki healing, sound healing and also had a massage. I loved Kriti's classes, and how she adjusts the class based on your level. Whether you are a beginner or advanced yogi, she will teach you new things and you will surely gain a lot after the course.
People: The people here are the highlight of the trip. Everyone I met, whether it was other guests, teachers, or staff working here was an absolute delight to chat to. They were so welcoming and friendly and in a mere five days, I felt a profound sense of belonging. The teachers Kriti (yoga), Santa (sound/ reiki healing), Susmi (massage) were so wise and I loved getting to know their yoga journey and sharing bits of my culture. Biren was so helpful and accommodated to my needs. He helps you with any of your concerns and really made my stay super enjoyable and smooth. Special mention to Tommy the golden retriever who was such a cute friend.
My words do not do this place justice so take a look at the photos and see for yourself!

I came to mandala school to attend the basic and advanced sound healing course. This is my maiden visit to Nepal. Before I came, I was worried about safety, potential language barrier, cleanliness and food/water. However , all my concerns were unfounded. The mandala team from the owners to the entire staff team operate like a closely knitted family. From my first day of arrival, we were greeted warmly by Sumi who showed us to our room, clearly explained the ins and outs of the school (meal times, water points, safety notes etc), and made sure we were comfortable. The owners, Biren and Kriti, were forever warm and welcoming, asking every guest how they were doing, if everything was okay such as making sure that the lessons and meals were all ok. The meals were fantastic, the variety churned out by one young male staff is mind-blowing - it's different every single meal and always tasted delicious and kept healthy - no deep fried food, no oily or surgery stuff! Our sound teacher, Shanta, is fantastic. He went over and beyond teaching sound healing, he shared about life values and stressed the importance of being present which is the foundation of every fulfilling healing session. All in all, my 10 day stay in mandala has been nothing short of amazing. It's easily one of the most relaxing and safe resort an urban dweller can get to at very affordable rates. Not forgetting the adorable and cool resident cocker spaniel which brings a spark to everyone. Thank you, Biren, Kriti and team, for having me, and I'd definitely be back again!

The place is teeming with good energy and positivity. A great place for those seeking peace and solace.
Program review: I participated in the 6 day yoga+hiking package which comes with daily yoga and meditation. There is also sound healing and massage included in the package. The programs were perfectly spaced out in a way that you dont have a hectic schedule (breaks the peace and calm state!) but not too spaced out that you feel bored. The teachers were all pleasant and emits just positivity and kindness.
Accommodation review: Additionally, the hosts took great care to make sure the accommodation is comfortable, bed is comfy and cozy, quality AC air conditioning, big windows for fresh air, and very clean and well equipped bathroom. My stay here was totally comfortable.
Food review: Oh gosh, how can I put this: as a meat eater, I totally enjoyed every vegan meal served. In fact, I was always early because I cant wait to try their food! Just an advice, if you are a meat eater like me and not used to vegan food, you might want to bring some full cream milk or yoghurt to settle the tummy as there might be some adjustments. But other than that, food is delicious, nutritious, and hearty.
Even in summer, I advice bringing a jacket as it can get pretty cold in the mountains at nights and wee mornings.

I recently completed a six-day retreat, and it genuinely changed my life. Every therapy offered was unique, impactful, and transformative in its own way.
Biren’s sound healing with singing bowls was a revelation—its profound effect on my body and mind was beyond anything I expected. He is a truly gifted and authentic healer, unpretentious and deeply genuine in his approach. His work is not cloaked in unnecessary mysticism but rooted in authenticity and skill.
Susmi's massage was extraordinary, and Santa’s Reiki healing left me in awe. Each session brought a sense of renewal and balance. The morning yoga sessions in a beautiful room with panoramic views of the city and jungle were another highlight. The yoga was taught with professionalism and authenticity, staying true to the traditions it represents. It was clear that every teacher and healer at this retreat is professionally trained and deeply committed to preserving the authenticity of their practices.
The retreat is located on the edge of the jungle, offering the most peaceful and pristine environment you’ll find in Kathmandu. The simple, clean rooms and the daily vegetarian meals were equally impressive. Every meal was delicious and unique, showcasing variety and care in preparation.
This retreat is not a commercialized or Westernized "wellness" experience. Instead, it is a deep and authentic immersion into Nepalese traditions and healing practices. I left feeling restored, grounded, and forever changed. In just six days, I learned how to find inner calm—a gift I will carry with me for life.

After spending the entire month of Feb at Mandala Yoga Retreat (500hr Yoga Teacher Training - YTT), it's not possible to accurately explain how the experience positively impacted all of us on the course. We connected immediately, thanks to Kriti, Biren, Susmi, and the entire Mandala Family. I had been seeking a place to continue YTT studies and after reaching out to Biren in July 2023, he responded immediately, answering my many questions with grace. Upon arrival at the Tribhuvan airport (at 130am!) I was greeted by Sam who drove me to Mandala and Susmi also awoke to welcome and show me to the room, so I could settle and sleep. The private room was in the same building with a terrace, just below the yoga shala, overlooking an incredible view of Kathmandu and the Himalayan mountains behind. Everyone who came to Mandala was brought into the family environment; Not just YTT students but everyone who came to study (sound healing, Reiki, massage) and retreat guests. We ate together, celebrated birthdays & special occasions together and cared for one another as per the example set by Kriti, Biren, and Susmi. Ajay made the most delicious Sattvic meals.... and yes, it's true, the Momos were amazing!!!! The rooms were cleaned daily with frequent sheet & towel changes. Ram would often smile with a friendly Namaste as he did handywork around the beautiful grounds. Vishnu and Yogesh were our yoga teachers in Feb 2024. I found their level of expertise and wisdom were humbling. In addition to sharing fascinating life experiences, they taught us extensively about yoga philosophy and lifestyle. Also, we were taught how to listen to our intellect in practical classes, bringing together our body, mind and soul to achieve balance via asanas, pranayama, mudras, satkarma, etc. I was definitely out of my normal comfort zone in a safe and encouraging way. As a result, our group thrived and built deep connections at Mandala. Deepest gratitude to both Vishnu and Yogesh. In some free time, I had the opportunity to have a couple of massages with Susmi and Sound Healing & Reiki with Santi. They were incredible experiences, and such a compliment to the Resort itself with their own levels of vast expertise and positivity. I cannot thank the Mandala Family enough and miss everyone I met and grew to love.

Mandala Yoga Retreat center is an experience in itself! It is a place where utmost professionalism meets warmth, happiness and grace from everyone running the show. Right from an exquisite welcome experience, the place offers personalized attention to every detail. The yoga lessons, the sound healing and reiki sessions and the relaxing massages/spa that were offered during my 6-day retreat made it memorable for life. Kriti and Biren, the happy couple running the place, made it enormously special with their personalized touch. Special shoutout goes to Susmi for bringing in life to the retreat through her professional massage therapies and always-happy demeanor! A must visit place for anyone seeking to learn and practice yoga (from beginner to expert levels, with personalized attention) amidst utmost peace, tranquility and serenity of being amidst such a picturesque location in the hills!

How I loved my stay here! I learnt so much in the Advanced Sound Healing course taught by Swami Shantha, and can think of no better way to embark on my own journey into sound healing. The resort is intimate and peaceful, with comfortable rooms, healthy & delicious food, a great group of fellow retreaters, and wonderfully warm & friendly hosts (Biren & Kriti, who together with Susmi and cook Ajay were a formidable team indeed). The days were full, and yet rarely have I felt so relaxed.
By the end of my stay, it took quite some effort to tear myself away from this magical place. I cannot recommend it highly enough! Thank you Biren and Kriti; what a paradise you have created. I can't wait to come and stay again!

I recently completed my sound healing course from Mandala. After 3 months of research on where to do the course, I landed up in Mandala. After visiting the place I knew this was it. The nature and view here is just mesmerising and takes one into a state of meditativeness the moment you enter it. The vibes here is so positive. You will see smiling faces walking around, you will hear chants and mantras all day throughout. The chirping of the birds and the rattling of the insects adds drama to the scenic beauty. Fresh, hygienic and wholesome meals are served everyday. The staff is friendly and always have a to do attitude to make you feel comfortable. Coming back to the course, On the very first day I realised what I am learning is going to be very intense and deep. And that was the moment I realised I can actually help people heal with singing bowls. The course itself is fantastic which is made even more interesting by Swami Chaitanya Krishna with his profound knowing about singing bowls, sounds and healing techniques.

I’ve had fantastic 7 days stay at Mandala and I highly recommend spending some time at this peaceful place during your travel to Nepal. The hosts have such a kind heart and you can tell that they put a lot of thought in to every single detail: The amazing classes and healing sessions, the tasty and diverse food and the comfy rooms. During my stay I practiced different types of yoga and meditation, guided by professional and kind teachers. It was a really mind opening and relaxing experience. I enjoyed the massage, sound healing, reiki and hiking to Chandragiri Hills. I also got the chance to participate in the Holi celebrations with the wonderful people who were staying at Mandala. It was an unexpected surprise and as always, the hosts made sure we will have a great time. Best way to start my trip to Nepal!
