This was our first experience at a hotel as opposed to an all-inclusive. The road to the hotel was steep and winding as you have to go over a mountain but it made for beautiful expansive views. We were immediately impressed by the beautiful setting and grounds at the hotel. Our room was large and spacious with a very comfortable king sized bed. We had a balcony with a beautiful view of the grounds and the sea. The pools are sparkling and warm. We were very surprised how quiet it was there and had the lower pool to ourselves for almost all of our visit! Perhaps because we were there before high season? The hotel staff always had a friendly greeting and a smile. The beach is lovely but it is not optimal for swimming as there is a lot of turtle grass but, we did see fish swimming around and little crabs on the beach. There is lots of shade on the beach if you need to get out of the sun and it was very quiet! Kayaks are available. There are two restaurants there. Everything we ate was delicious and beautifully presented. Drinks were awesome too, the coconut Pina Colada was divine! Prices were very reasonable. The staff at the restaurants were attentive, friendly and hard- working. We were well taken care of by MacKenzie, Phil and the lovely Alily (sorry for any incorrect spelling) for most of our meals but again all of the staff were amazing! This is definitely somewhere we would recommend to others. There is a beautiful golf course next door. They are currently building a new club house and it looks amazing! There is also the Beach Club you can access next door with a huge pool and diving shop. The restaurant there (Aqua), is currently closed as it is under renovations to become a steak house. The only things we didn't like were the no-see-ums and sand fleas at the beach, pool and on our balcony (even with bug spray we ended up with numerous itchy, red, bites) and that there wasn’t any type of privacy screen between rooms on the balcony. Overall it was an excellent, relaxing experience.…
My boyfriend and I stayed at this resort for 5 days. The resort was about 20 minutes from the airport so we booked transportation for $30 pp. The resort appeared nice with beautiful landscaping but the resort is secluded. The inside of our room was sub par. The mini fridge was cool but definitely not as cold as a fridge should be, the shower lacked pressure and water just trickled out but was warm, only half the lights in the bathroom worked and the AC didn’t work and was set at 30 celcius. We told a gentleman at the front desk about the AC not working but nothing was ever done about it. I had difficulty sleeping at night from being too warm and sweaty. There’s 1 restaurant and 1 pool bar/restaurant on the property. Pool bar staff seemed ok but not friendly. The restaurant staff was super friendly and the prices were fairly priced. We ate all meals there since the resort wasn’t near anything we could walk to. The pool was nice. No amenities other than kayaks. Overall an ok place but we would not stay here again.…
I stayed in Las Verandas while attending an entrepreneur's event in Próspera. The room was great (soft bed, nice balcony overlooking the pool and sea) and each morning I had a delicious breakfast at the nearby restaurant. But what really impressed me was that this hotel was located within the Próspera jurisdiction. It's a special economic zone with it's own unique status inside the country. So they are doing innovative things to create a Caribbean city of the future. I felt like I was getting to visit in the early days of a new movement. That added a whole different feel to the experience.
This is a beautiful resort. 20 min drive from the airport. The hotel contacted us early and arranged for pick-up at the airport (nice touch). The front staff is very nice and helpful. Our 2-bedroom villa was amazing. Huge 2000 sq ft of space. Nice private pool. Very comfortable beds and pillows. Huge bathrooms. Full kitchen. There is no Gym or exercise room here. There are 2 restaurants here. The menu items are great. The problem we had is that the food was not cooked well. The recipes are great, but the cook/chef needs training. Almost always, the food was undercooked. Since there are no restaurants nearby (unless you take a taxi). Would be wonderful to address this issue. The beach area is beautiful, but there is a lot of live seaweed at the bottom, making it un swimmable. We were told that they are working on dredging the beach area next year. Very nice infinity pool. Very nice staff. This is a beautiful hotel. They are completing a few projects. Once done, will be an even more wonderful place. Highly recommend renting a car and visiting other beaches and restaurants on the island.…
The service and food were not so good. The food at The Pergola was terrible and the food took a very long time. The cocktails were not good. We were supposed to have a refrigerator for our medicine but there wasn't one. After asking for 2 days, we finally got a tiny one. We window wouldn't close and it took them 2 days to work on it. Thank goodness the AC was good. The fold out bed was dirty and had to call for linens. Las Verandas is beautiful! The grounds and views are amazing. It's just a shame that the service is terrible. They don't have enough people working. No one knew what was going on. They need a better supervisor. The rooms are spacious and the balconies are great.
Spent 4 nights here on Dec 2022. Property is beautiful and well maintained. Staff is friendly and professional. Stand outs include Kelly , Iris and Ziggy. I must say we ate in the “nice” restaurant the first night and had a horrible experience. The food was hardly edible. We were starving after traveling all day and ate the protein just to be able to sleep. But the fish was leathery and the “ribeye” was most certainly not ! The food at the pool bar was mush better the next day especially the onion rings and fried Thai chicken sandwich. I personally get eaten alive by sand fleas and that impacts my trip in a hugely negative way but not everyone is affected by that Again , the staff and especially Kelly and Iris and Ziggy made the trip be the best it could be.
Imagine paying almost $400 a night to stay in a “luxury” 4-star resort just for the bathroom to flood your entire bedroom. And then to top it off imagine the same “luxury resort” make you wait for over 3 hrs to move you to another room after you were walking around in POOP water for 3 hrs run around to speak to a manager and when you finally speak to a manager the manager tells you to your face it’s nothing he can do for your inconvenience, he accusing you of putting a roll of toilet tissue in the toilet and tells you to report the charge to your credit card company in order to rectify the issue. To make matters worse after the encounter I packed my stuff and wanted to leave the resort immediately, the hotel offered to take me back to the airport and I politely declined as my friend organized for our tour guide to take me. In the process of me waiting outside the resort a lovely couple came by and could see I was visibly upset, and I explained to them what happened. The couple stated it was unacceptable and it should be handled differently. The manager Antonio proceeded to come to the front to let me know that he was going to call the police on me. WHY CALL THE COPS ON SOMEONE THATS LEAVING, WAS IT BECAUSE I WAS BLACK ANTONIO! I am 100% SURE HAD I BEEN WHITE THIS WOULDV'E BEEN HANDLED DIFFERENTLY. The manager Antonio was perfectly ok smirking as he watched me be infuriated that he couldn’t rectify the issue. DO NOT STAY HERE! MGMT WILL SMIRK AT YOUR DISMAY.…
We had high expectations for our stay at Las Verandas, and they over delivered. The property is beautiful, rooms are spacious, modern and luxurious, the ocean view is exquisite and the team goes out of the way to be helpful and friendly. I would choose Las Verandas for another vacation in Roatan. Thank you Johnny and Wendy for making our time there so enjoyable! We can’t wait to come back!
Las Verandas is a beautiful property overlooking the ocean. Our villa (Villa01) was truly outstanding: An enormous living room and kitchen with cathedral ceiling (about 20' high), large, comfortable bedroom and a very nice bathroom with double sinks, shower and tub. The patio was huge with lots of chairs and lounges. My wife read 6 books out there and got a nice tan, too. Probably the best part of our stay (6 days) was the staff. Every one of them just couldn't do enough for us. We felt truly pampered. Special thanks to Carlos and Taylor at the bar and Karim in the restaurant and beyond. The food was excellent and prepared by their great chef. And I don't want to leave out the front desk people who took care of any tiny issues we encountered in Roatan. If you're looking for a very relaxing getaway, Las Verandas is the perfect place to go. Finally, if you scuba dive, the "West End" is the place to go. Tons of dive shops - we like Roatan Divers.…
My family just traveled to Roatan for the first time. We were 8 total (5 adult kids) who flew from Houston. The resort was purchased about 2 months ago by a new investor so basically the entire staff was new. You can see that they have recently painted everything and one of the pools was being resurfaced. Their main pool is an infinity edge pool overlooking the ocean--fantastic and very clean. We stayed in 2 Villas each had 2 Bedrooms/2 Baths with large living room, kitchen, dining room and Ocean view balconies. Both were very clean, had air conditioning you can control in each room, large bathrooms with great water pressure and the kitchen had a full size fridge, stove and utensils, place settings etc. The beds were super comfortable, great linens and huge. There was even a safe for valuables. What I came away with was the amazing customer service starting with Brian at the front desk who resolved our "missing" reservation (in the switch over to the new owner, our reservation was lost) and coordinated our airport transfers without a hitch. Areli runs the two restaurants on site and she is wonderful, attentive, friendly, professional and always smiling. She runs a tight ship and is vigilant that you are well taken care of. Loved Carlos our bartender at the Palapa pool side bar--he made great drinks and was also super friendly and helpful. We stayed 5 days and by the time we left truly felt like the staff knew us by name and even knew what we liked. They gave us lots of suggestions of what to do and where to go. As hotel guests, you have access to the Beach Club next door--it's a 2-3 minute walk. There they have 2 more amazing pools (one is great for kids with a pirate ship and slide), 2 restaurants, poolside cabanas, tennis courts and the golf course. Kevan was our bartender at the poolside bar there and although it was his first day--he worked super hard to ensure he took great care of us. Food will take a while to get to you but you're on vacation so just plan on it. But everything was delicious. The breakfast was included with our Villas and I highly recommend the Baleadas (like breakfast tacos but better) or the Honduras Traditional Breakfast that has plantains included. For lunch or dinner, the whole fresh fish was a huge hit as was the coconut shrimp. Even the burger and chicken sandwich are good. We ate at the hotel everyday at least 1-2 times a day. With new management there are always going to be growing pains but honestly, the staff is fantastic, the property itself is gorgeous and it is absolutely the most luxurious and well thought out resort in Roatan. Important: bring lots of bug spray and after bite/benadryl. They are not mosquitos--we were told they're like sand fleas but they're everywhere. Spray yourself down each day or you will get bitten up. Several of us were and the bites are tiny but very itchy around day 2-3. You can't drink the water from the tap so buy some bottled water at the local grocery store (the driver from the hotel can take you if you schedule it with front desk). Most of the guests I talked to didn't even use the tap water to brush their teeth. The hotel provides one big jug of bottled water with a spout, but it's not enough, If you are looking for relaxation, luxury, beauty, great food-this is the place. If you are looking for all inclusive, loud music, lots of people, water activities, fast food...go elsewhere. The beach at Las Verandas is nice but it has grass growing all along the bottom water. No waves and the water temperature perfect. The Beach Club next door had done a better job at clearing out most of the grass so you could go deeper into the water, but Las Verandas is still a work in progress. They have lots of people working round the clock to keep improving it so I'm sure by the time we return the beach itself will have been cleared a little better so it doesn't have so much grass. I wore sandals so I would't feel the grass but some of our kids didn't mind it. That's the only improvement I would suggest--clear up some of that grass so the beach becomes more enjoyable and spray several times a day for those bugs that bite! Absolutely plan to return.…
