In the midst of flowers, a lovely pool offers freshness and relaxation during the hottest months.
Fields are organically cultivated. Our cultivation is varied: from vineyard to berries, from vegetable garden to officinal herbs, from strawberries to fruit trees. With our grapes we produce our Sangiovese, a very natural and fruity wine. Enjoy it in your room, by the pool or in the garden!
Our agriturismo is certified by Legambiente, the leading environmental organization in Italy.
We only use energy from sustainable sources. More than that: Il Cavicchio has been built with natural materials. This is one of the reasons why it can claim an excellent thermal insulation. We cultivate our plants according to the precepts of organic farming: we thus obtain a better flavour, and the environment receives a beneficial effect.
We love meeting people and we love our region, Emilia Romagna. This is why it will be a pleasure to help and advise you during your stay. We'll go a long way to make you feel comfortable and welcome, here in your Bologna home: Agriturismo il Cavicchio.
Enjoy your sweet and savoury breakfast in the morning: home-made jams, cakes, fruit, yogurt, Parma ham, Parmesan cheese, etc.
In winter, you'll have breakfast in the dining room facing the garden, in summertime you can sit in the veranda under the wisteria.
All guests sit at the same table. You can get to know each other, a moment of warmth and communication in the rush of modern life.
We do not serve breakfast to apartment guests, since they have their own kitchen.
Of course we will be happy to provide them with our home made jams, wine, seasonal fruit and vegetables from our fields.
Relax in nature. We are surrounded by fields, vineyards, badlands and forests. Enjoy going for a walk, hiking and bike rides along trails and small roads nearby. Those who love nature and culture can visit Bologna, l'Eremo di Ronzano, the Gessi and Abbadessa Park or the Pliocene Counterfort.
Being close to the main nearby highways makes it easy to reach many beautiful italian cities in short time (one/two hours by car). You can visit Florence, Pisa, Arezzo, Siena and Lucca, Modena, Parma and Ferrara, Ravenna, Rimini and Cesena, Verona, Padova and Venice, Mantova and Urbino.
Do you prefer public transport? Bus stop is at 500 mts., Rastignano train station at 1800 mts
Within the property there even is a forest of almost two hectares, with typical flora of these areas: oaks, acacias, maples, chestnuts, elms, ash trees, junipers, hawthorns, dogwoods, ivy, clematis, and many types of beautiful herbaceous perennial flowers. It is not uncommon to find traces of a wild boar, or to stumble upon woodpeckers, hares, pheasants, squirrels and even deer and foxes. A trail passes through the woods, up to a spectacular 350 years old.
A piece of bucolic heaven located outside the bustling city of Bologna. Warm, country house feel with a large comfortable room. Large modern bathroom. Hosts were super helpful but yet knew to give privacy and distance when needed. Lovely breakfast display. We drove to Bologna city center for a walking tour with no difficulty. A lovely restaurant in the hills was recommended by the owner and thoroughly enjoyed. Didn’t want to leave!…
If you want some where that is a great location for getting into the city centre, going to Ravenna, Florence, Lucca, Modena, Parma and Imola this is a great place to stay. The rooms are lovely, a nice swimming pool to relax by, great hosts [Federico and Gustavo] and there are some really nice local restaurants within walking distance [one] and more within 15 minutes drive. The breakfast are good and nothing is too much trouble for them. We will be back!…
My partner and I stayed at Il Cavicchio for 3 nights, and we fell in love with the place. We chose the place because we were traveling without a car. We took the train from Bologna, and walked to the Agriturismo - Federico (the owner) even offered to pick us up from the station. There is a great hiking route in the backyard of the place, and Federico gave us the instructions for where to go and what to see. Also, he gave us restaurant suggestions and a local map. He was and perfect host - attentive, friendly and helpful throughout the period! The breakfast was great, the garden delightful, the homemade wine superior, and the nearby restaurants were very good as well. We would recommend this place to all who considers visiting the Bologna area!…
For our 2 night stay in Bologna we’ve chosen a place close to the city but still far enough away to be in the country side. The host is a very friendly man gevingerd lots of info. Hè even booked a table for us in a closeby restaurant. The room was not big but had everything you need. Breakfast had some local produces goods. When going to Bologna, do what we did, we drove to the nearby village and took a train to Bologna which is like 15 min away. No trouble with parking spots.…
We stayed for 11 nights at Il Cavicchio and what a fabulous hidden gem of a place it is. Frederico and Gustavo are brilliant hosts and they cannot do too much for you to make your holiday special. We stayed in one of the apartments and it was excellently kitted out with a capacious fridge, cooking and dining area and a great bed and lounge area. It had a much needed pool, that was really nicely done and maintained. [Note the air con was one of the quietest we have come across and very efficient]. Being in the lovely countryside made it also and the grounds and gardens were very well kept and there was lots of wildlife from woodpeckers to the frogs. The breakfast was also excellent and we don't usually eat jam but the home made pear jam was to die for. It was good base to visit other places such as Bologna, Ravenna, Dozza, Florence and Lucca. With Bologna don't drive in but take the number 13 or 96 bus from the island just inside Rastigano and buy your tickets from the little coffee shop by the car park [which you can park all day]. The taxi's were quite reasonable as it cost us 30 euro's to get back from the centre of Bologna and bus tickets cost 12 euro's for ten trips. Restaurants there were three good local ones the Al Cuntadein, Carosello and Osteria. If you mention you are from Il Cavichio you get 10% off your bill and in Italy you do not have to tip [we did as the service was great]. For food shopping the Co-op in Pianoro was the best with a great deli and range of goods [ we did laugh as we went a different way to it every time]. There is a market in Pianoro and I think it is on a Saturday [check with Frederico] and some great locally grown fruit and vegetables as well as a great little butcher [the Mortadella was beautiful]. For wine Frederico produces his own and it is delicious and for 7 euro's a bottle it is certainly well worth it [try the frizzante instead of prosecco and you will be pleasantly surprised]. One down side are the mosquitoes! Not in the rooms as they are very well protected with mesh, but outside so take some protection. Walking there are some great walks for the more adventurous and you can walk to the Al Cuntadein in about 25 minutes. Last we will go back as Frederico and Gustavo [and Said] we so hospitable and the location was great. P.S. We travelled from the UK all the way by train and you do need a car.…
