Cannot describe just how beautiful El Carmelo is. First, just the location: four elegant suites (yes, just four!) overlooking the Andes from one’s own private terrace. Waking up in the morning facing the enormous wall of glass and seeing the mountains bathed in morning sunlight, changing color by the minute, is indescribable. And seeing a condor soar over the mountains is the icing on the cake. The property has been beautifully designed, using stone and marble that blends sensitively into the landscape. The enormous suite is fitted out so that one could be quite comfortable staying ‘in place’, but then there’s the sumptuous pool area, four elegant draped cabanas and again - those views! Breakfast and dinner are included in the room rate, arriving at your designated time, and are absolutely delicious and elegantly served by the wonderful staff. The refrigerator is stocked with a cheeseboard and sandwiches, nice to have on hand when returning from a days excursion, together with a well-priced selection of local wines. Expertly- made cocktails delivered to the pool are also a terrific way to unwind before dinner. Ricardo, your host, is a wealth of knowledge, having resided in the area for a long time, and can arrange for any of the many activities that the region offers. He has a genuine eye for detail, having designed the property himself, and is dedicated to ensuring that guests have the best experience possible. El Carmelo is a 5-star plus plus experience; we cannot imagine returning to Argentina without factoring a stay here.

This place looked great on line and was even better in person. The views you see on line are the top unit on the left as one faces the mountains. That was our room. The solid glass wall and large side window brings the outside in. The unit itself is state of the art with excellent lighting and tasteful, comfortable furnishings including top end speakers and appliances. The views are fantastic. I believe Potrerillos is about 5,300' but the mountains you see from the room rise up to almost 20,000'. You face west and the sunsets are very colorful. There are remote window closures which we used a bit in the afternoon to keep out the sun. The breakfast and dinners are served on the spacious deck. There is a small menu from which to select your meals for dinner. The owner uses WhatsApp for contacts but he lives on site. While the price far exceeds most rentals in our Argentina trip, we felt it was worth the money. We stayed here because of our interest in hiking in Aconcagua Park (a 2 hour drive away).

Super attentive care. Extremely comfortable suites with stupendous views and all mod cons. Delicious food. Great activities nearby - rafting and trekking. Delightful garden and pool. Watching the light change over the Cordillera amazing. It’s 160km from Aconcagua but tons to look at and do locally.

El Carmelo is a wonderful modern lodge with friendly service from Ricardo and his staff and great attention to detail. The location is unparalleled and the glass fronted rooms all have panoramic views of the Andes and have an amazing sound system installed so that one can relax and enjoy cordon bleu breakfasts and dinners which are included in the price and brought to the room. Cable TV and in room snacks are also available and there is a wonderful pool and jacuzzi to enjoy. Hiking, biking and local activities such as river rafting can also be arranged. Excellent place to spend time outside Mendoza or on the way to Santiago.
