I've stayed here for two night for my Maderas hike. The Finca is surrounded by the jungle, all you hear is the sound of birds, Geckos and howler monkeys. I've had a single room for the same price most places charge for a dorm. Mattress was good and I got a fan and a Moskito net. There are many bugs...

My husband and I camp at Finca Magdalena for couple of nights in between our hike to Volcan Madera. We camp inside the property in a roof protected open area with ventilation and good views. The location is great for those wanting to hike the near volcano but not only for those. The property is peaceful and accommodation is inexpensive....

I came in the morning, and parked my Motorcycle outsidefinca Magdalena. I bought some water and food for the vulcano hike. The staff were very friendly, so I decided to stay the night over. When I came back from the Maderas hike, I ate a very tasty fish with some kind of tomato sauce. I rented the cheapest room, only...

We spent one night in the Finca in one of the ground floor rooms. The room was clean and we thought ourselves lucky until dawn. We were tired and wanted to sleep early which was difficult because the walls are basically nonexistent. You can hear every word your neighbours say and it is really loud when someone walks above you...

We loved this hostel. It has a nice and relaxing atmosphere. We weren't looking to party so this hostel suited us perfectly. If you enjoy playing some cards and having a couple beer in the evening this place is for you. We stayed in the 3 person private and it was great for us. The bathrooms weren't amazing but did...

The people are pleasant, the views are lovely, the gardens are nice. The entire place is wood with only one exit. It's dark in the rooms. Bathrooms are fine. You are not allowed to cross the collective without a guide. The food is passable.

Listen, I'm a man of creature comforts. I like my wifi on tap, enjoy AC, and fresh smelling linen. I like a bit of atmosphere in the dining room or a bar. With this place you don't get it, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, depending on what you're looking for. The hostel seems to have been made from an...

Community Cooperative, ranch style place. Your money goes to the local farming families. Basic little rooms and shared communal bathroom for the cheap doubles and dorms. You can camp or bring a hammock. Meals and beers are well priced (by hotel standards). Views are truly spectacular. The people are lovely. It's a decent walk up the hill from the road...

We went there for the views and a small bite. The place was almost empty, no guests. The atmosphere puts you back into the 30's of last century and you can imagine how the internacionalistas came here to pick coffee after the revolution, sleep and dream about a new world in which we are all equal. Nowadays the place has...

Pros: good view of Volcan Concepcion from the second floor main area, hikes to Maderas leave right from here Cons: very very run down. Probably used to be an awesome backpacker Mecca but the place is serious disrepair. Way to overpriced for the accommodations. Went and stayed in Santo Domingo for $10 more a night for a room that felt...

“We stayed in a private room with a shared bathroom. The bathrooms are downstairs from the rooms, and there was a group of really loud people there the first night, so our room was pretty noisy. The 2nd night was great because we were some of the only people there!”
