One night was all we could spare - the deluxe double room with continental breakfast was not cheap - especially as we were within 5 metres of the road and the bottle bank for the beach sited nearby across the road. But the room was excellent - a little private patio through French Windows, bath robes, iron and ironing board,... More

My partner & I just stayed at the Gallivant for a two night relaxing "gourmet escape" in a Garden Room over the weekend. Firstly, this isn't a cheap hotel, so if that's what you're looking for look elsewhere! The prices for hotels are generally quite high in Rye and you are paying a slight premium for this being the only... More

My partner booked this delightful "Restaurant with Rooms" (aka hotel) for the night of my birthday, 16th August. We had no idea what to expect as neither of us had stayed there, although my friend has eaten there before with her family. We arrived late morning, before booking in time, but introduced ourselves, left the car and headed across to... More

We enjoyed the most delicious and relaxed lunch yesterday at The Gallivant. Long brisk dog walk preceded lunch enduring healthy appetites and thirsts. Sat outside as in spite of blustery conditions the tables are remarkably sheltered. Dogs were welcomed and offered water which was very considerate. Lunch was so delightfully relaxed and delicious. Smoked mackerel pate was smoky and lightly... More

Arrived for a short getaway with my two children. Greeted by a very polite Receptionist. (sorry I cannot remember her name) Room was very clean and comfortable. There is a larder within the hotel where you could help yourself to drinks, chocolate and crisps - my daughter thought she was at home: We decided to go into Rye for dinner... More

Lovely restaurant with delightful rooms, close to the beach and Rye. We stayed in the snug room, ate breakfast, lunch and dinner there and loved every meal. The lazy breakfast with the papers was heaven.

Wow......we have just had an amazing stay at The Gallivant for our first Wedding Anniversary. We got married here in August 2015 and stayed in Room 1 for our wedding night. This is a lovely room with your very own decking area which provides 100% privacy. We really didn't think that this could be beaten however....... On this occasion we... More

We were delighted with our stay. The room was spacious, well furnished, and a lot of attention had been paid to the details. The back of the room opened to a very nice garden area, although it's shared with the other garden rooms. The staff were polite, friendly, and accommodating. We had ordered one of their picnics (which come with... More

My wife and I stayed at the Gallivant for 3 nights in a Luxury Garden Room mid August 2016. as birthday treat. The room was excellent with superb facilities. Very comfortable and quiet despite it being by a busy main road. The sand dunes are opposite with an excellent sandy beach which provides lovely long walks. It's top end on room... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to our restaurant with rooms across the road from the dunes and the beautiful sandy beach beyond. Inspired by the coastal motels you might find in California, we're a relaxing hideaway from the stresses and strains of modern life. We have amazing beds, great food and a small, passionate team. In 2016 we were included in The Times 'Coolest Beach Hotels - No. 4' and Squaremeal's 'UK's Best 100 Restaurants'. In 2015 we were included in the Daily Telegraph 'Britain's Best Seaside Hotels' and in 2014 we were included in The Sunday Times 'Top 100 UK Hotels - for foodies' and the Sunday Times Travel magazine listed our beach in the 'World's 50 Best Beaches'. ... more   less
