Cozy clean room. Quaint host and very helpful in finding a connection to our relatives in the area! Nice Breakfast. He helped us get some hot water to make hot choc. and heat up some roomogrot as well. We recommend this place. No elevators... so stairs.
Definitely recommend staying at Dalen Bed and Breakfast! Oliver is very friendly and helpful with any questions about Dalen during your stay. Very clean and spacious room. We had and en suite bathroom, which was great! Would stay again on my next trip to Dalen!
Dalen is a small place so there wasn’t much choice when we planned our trip. However Dalen B&B was fine - clean and comfortable and with a very welcoming and thoughtful host. He was able to recommend where we could eat and the recommendation of eating at the harbour was great ( only weekend nights though). He also recommended walks and advised on the boats trips ( Dalen to Ulefoss and the bus back - it takes all day but really interesting and huge drops in sea level as you go through the locks). We also did a challenging walk up to Eidsborg which was steep rather than difficult but well worth it for the views and we caught the school bus back! All in all a good stay but we felt rather pricey.
Visited early May. Booked the balcony room which turned out to be extremely small. We’re travelling for 10 weeks and visiting climates ranging from 0 to 30c so have large luggage. Jan who checked us in suggested the bags wouldn’t’ fit in the room and offered the use of another room not being used for storage. This proved a godsend as she was correct. It was a case of the bags or us getting in the room. Apart from the room size the bath towels were little bigger than tea towels and way past their use by date. There was a hole in the sheet. This b&b is one of the most expensive we have stayed in in Europe. They get away with it as the only competition is a very expensive hotel. If you visit Dalen at any time out of season, eating dinner becomes a big problem. There is only one option- the hotel which only reopened at the start of May and is very expensive. This property has no lounge to relax in only the breakfast room. On a positive note, breakfast was ok without being anything special and Jan who checked us in and did breakfast was very nice. …
We had a great stay here. The owners were so accommodating (and exceedingly friendly) when we booked at the last minute and then decided to stay an extra day. The location is convenient to many things, including being steps away from the trailhead to a hike to the West Telemark Museum (it will also take you by the cottage/farm of the two Rui sisters and Eidsborg Stave Church, with some good views in between). If you go to Dalen, this place is a solid option.
