If some day we will go there again,we will definitely stay in Ellens house.
Such a beautiful, peaceful and very pleasant stay at Ellie’s place with my Mother. Ellie is a great host and nothing is too much for her. The rooms are all immaculately clean, the pool and garden area is so pretty and quiet. Great breakfast with a selection of croissants, bread (from the local bakery) homemade jams, yoghurt, fruit, muesli. And a good selection of teas, herbal teas and coffee. We are already planning our next trip back! Thank you so much Ellie x
Old fashioned good service is what the landlady provides with a big hearted smile! The rooms are comfortable and spotlessly clean with good linen on comfortable beds. Not air conditioned, but wasn't necessary at all. Welcomed with cups of tea and lemon drizzle cake, seen away with a super breakfast in the morning. Nothing was too much trouble, not only making a restaurant reservation in nearby St Emilion, but taking us there to avoid the taxi! We're already considering coming back for a week with friends next year!
Thank you Ellen for our lovely stay back in September - been meaning to do this review ever since! Comfy bed, spacious and accessible bathroom (just a small step into the shower), yummy breakfasts and so on and so on. It was so good to be in your large room after so many small hotel rooms, and to enjoy the sunlight streaming in from the garden.
Ellie and her partner were attentive to our every need. The breakfasts were plentiful and delicious in a relaxing, friendly environment. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the area taking the opportunity to explore local places. Tip - the station at Castillon is only 5 minutes away with free parking so much easier to access Bordeaux for a day trip.
Our stay at La Maisonnee Girondine was perfect. The property is simply stunning with five gorgeous rooms - each with their own en-suite bathroom - a communal dining room, and even a pool. Each room is exceptionally clean, light and spacious. Ellie and her partner are so warm and welcoming, they really make you feel at home and nothing is ever too much trouble. They are full of recommendations for great places to eat in the local area and there is plenty of information on the area provided in the welcome pack in each room. The breakfast at La Maisonee Girondine is an absolute winner. Ellie makes a number of jams and compotes herself from fruits in the local area; the bread comes from a boulangerie in the next town where guests are encouraged to visit the bakery's wood-fired oven and even help bake if the mood takes! Fresh fruit, local meats and cheeses are also on offer. Guests are welcome to use the breakfast area and wine glasses and corkscrews are provided if you wish to drink any of the wine that you will undoubtedly end up purchasing. I would definitely recommend a stay at La Maisonee Girondine if visiting the region and I look forward to a return visit!…
I can only echo what fellow reviewers have already stated. La Maisonnee Girondine is perfect. Ellie and her partner were a delight giving us a warm welcome and recommending many places suited to our itinerary. They are very knowledgeable on the local area, restaurants and vineyards. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. A tea/coffee tray is provided. WiFi worked well throughout our stay. The breakfast was super, lots of homemade preserves, bread, cereal, pastries, fruit, yogurts, cold meat & ham, fresh orange juice and a wide selection of tea as well as coffee. We made use of the large pool in the garden and relaxed on the sun loungers well into the evening, sipping on the days purchase of local wine. I would defiantly recommend La Maisonee Girondine to fellow travellers.…
It has been a long time since I wanted to post a review about La maisonnée, time flies but we loved so much our stop there that it was something I wouldn't forget to do. First the host Ellie is such a nice and welcoming person! You feel directly like home. Room are clean, spacious and super cute, with view on the nice garden. She was a cook so she make incredible breakfast! We had so much that we couldn't finish, but so delicious that we took away for the road. Thanks again Ellie for such a warm welcome; I'll always remember La maisonnée, on that same day when we left la Maisonnée my boyfriend proposed in the middle of Saint Emilion vineyard; magic day with everything so perfect. Thanks Ellie for having; I recommend anyone to stay at your place! All the best!;) Magali & Stan (the french couple living in Miami;).…
Our stay with Ellie at La Maisonnee Girondine was perfect! My husband and I felt like we were staying with an old friend, and by the end of our stay, we were good friends. Assistance was readily available in planning visits to St. Emilion region, Bordeaux and even help with train service to Lourdes. Our room was very spacious, clean and very comfortable with large private bath. We also had available to us the dining room to sit and drink our wines, and to read or write in our diaries. Ellie is very knowledgeable on the area and gave us a great lead on a wine tasting location enabling us to ship home our favorites. Ellie is also an excellent chef. Fresh baked goods and home made preserves and jams from trees on property were enjoyed every morning. Each day was started with wonderful fresh French press coffee and a large assortment of packaged teas, loose teas also available upon request. We were also visiting the Dordogne region during this trip so from the States, we flew into Bordeaux, stayed at La Maisonnee Girondine for a few days to explore region, drove to Dordogne, then returned to our "lovely" B and B for the last 4 days in France. It was a wonderful beginning and end to our French journey. I highly recommend staying here and we plan to do so on our next visit to region.…
We stayed at La Maisonnee Girondine for 5 nights in August, and had a wonderful experience. This B&B is an absolute gem, and was the ideal base for exploring St Emilion and the surrounding area. Ellie is a lovely and thoughtful hostess, who made sure we had absolutely everything we could have needed during our stay. The house is picture perfect, and has been beautifully updated inside and out. There is also a lovely pool in the garden, which we found was the ideal place to relax in the afternoon. The breakfast provided by Ellie was absolutely delicious and easily the best we have ever had at any hotel or B&B. I am gluten-free, and Ellie went above and beyond to make sure I had a wide selection of gluten-free options (including home made cakes and treats) in addition to the yogurt, fresh fruit, sliced meats and cheese, and homemade jams already on offer. I would absolutely recommend La Maisonnee Girondine to anyone planning to visit this area.…
