We had the best time here, everything was perfect . We loved feeding the animals in the morning and relaxing the hot tub at night. The bedroom and kitchen has everything you need and handy usb ports where you need them. Loved the shower too

We had a lovely stay here for my 30th birthday. The roundhouse is set up really well and provides you with everything you need for a relaxing break. We enjoyed using the hot tub too. 😊 Bude is nearby and we were told of the Bude at War event happening in the town over the weekend. On Saturday evening we had dinner at the Preston Gate Inn which served delicious pub food! On Sunday , on our way back home, we stopped off at Clovelly which was a twenty minute drive from the lodge. We will definitely stay here again 😊

Really lovely get away with my other half. We stayed in Cranny and bought the two dogs with us. The cottage was just what we needed, the bed was comfortable and the shower powerful. We had a bbq both nights and sat by the fire pit and chatted with other guests. The hosts were really friendly, and had lots of good recommendations of where to go. On the first night we ate at a local pub and had really lovely fish and chips and took a walk on the common land. The next day we visited Duckpool beach - very lovely and quiet, with great rock pools and geology, and then went to Sandymouth - a bigger sandier beach with a lovely cafe. Both were dog friendly. Sunday we took a lovely walk around Tamar lakes - a lovely 2.8m walk. Really recommend this as a dog friendly place to stay with great places to walk and visit.

We are just on our way back from East Thorne and I cannot express how amazing our stay was. We stayed in one of the roundhouses and we loved every second. The facilities are amazing, the shower was beautiful and the hot tub was perfect. We spent both evenings in the very very warm hot tub with the lights on watching the stars. The roundhouse was spotlessly clean on our arrival and the owner Sue was so lovely and helpful. She gave us lots of lovely recommendations in the surrounding area for my partners birthday. We had a lovely BBQ on our first night & everything was provided for us (charcoal, matches etc). It’s such a lovely quiet area it really was a beautiful stay and we will 100% be back next year with our little doggo! Overall, it was an amazing stay and my partner had the best 25th birthday! Can’t wait to come back!

Lovely setting with green spaces and farm animals. Also a covered barn for larger groups to get together. We had one of the 4 cottages which had all we needed including a washing machine. Comfy beds, good quality towels and very clean. Naomi and Sue were really welcoming and helpful with suggestions for activities.

Wow. What an amazing place East Thorne is! We spent the bank holiday weekend here celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. It was rainy and cold throughout. However due to the fantastic Cynefin roundhouse we stayed in. We had an amazing time. The quality of the roundhouse is second to none and everything you need is included. The design is gorgeous and the roundhouse is built for relaxation and peace and quiet. From the dreamy bathroom to the port window above the bed which allows you to see the stars (on a clear night ). Everything is beautiful. The private garden of the Cynefin roundhouse included a lovely seating pod for 2 a fire pit, small table and chairs and a cute high table/bar with seats that allowed us to relax looking out over the perfect view. The drive into Bude is about 16 mins but a lovely drive. The app that is provided when you book includes everything that you could need to know about East Thorne and the surrounding areas. Even including recommendations on restaurants and takeaway. I wish everyone provided an app like this! Thank you to Sue who checked us in and showed is around. I would recommend East Thorne to everyone. We had a perfect time that even the rain couldn't spoil! Many thanks

We stayed in the amazing secret roundhouse and we couldn’t have asked for anything more for our minimoon! The roundhouse itself was beautifully decorated inside and the private garden with hot tub, outdoor kitchen and fire pit was amazing to relax in the evening time! Fire pit essentials were also provided which was a nice touch and the hot tub was heated up for when we returned from days out! The location was also very good for visiting places around Cornwall! The hosts were also amazing, a husband and wife team but nothing was ever too much for them and they made us feel very welcome!

As we pulled up into the scruffy car park and found the deserted reception area full of clutter my heart sank a little. The website suggests all sorts of loveliness but in reality it didn’t live up. The roundhouses are nicely done although the double beds with hard mattresses could be better. We managed to make it work with the limited storage solutions - hooks on walls and clothes can be stored in under bed storage boxes on wheels. Some maintenance required however with doors that can only be closed by slamming shut or lifting up. Generally though the site didn’t have any host presence and the shared spaces were unappealing which added to the deserted atmosphere. You can ring the bell and a husband/wife team who appear to live in the caravan behind the horse box will try to help. Nothing they could do about the Wi-Fi though which was non existent for our entire stay. When we enquired about the pizza oven we were told to refer to the manual which we couldn’t locate. Net result - a lot of pizza ended up being thrown out. We made the best of it and the hot tubs were enjoyable but given that we’d spent over £2000 for our extended family to stay for 4 nights it didn’t feel as nice as it should have. For the price it lacked some onsite food and coffee machines provided in each unit.

Response from Naomi Black, Owner at East Thorne-Cornwall Yurts and Cottages
Responded 3 days ago
Thank you for taking the time to review and for writing that your accommodation was nicely done and that you enjoyed the hot tub. We have taken a lot of time to handpick all the individual decoration and fittings so Im glad you liked it. Thank you for letting us know about the door. This has now been fixed. When it comes to storage in our Roundhouses we have curved walls and so makes adding wardrobes vey space consuming. For that reason we have open hanging spaces with coat hangers and large under-bed wooden storage drawers to maximise the space. Im glad you were able to 'make it work', as all other guests do that stay. I am slightly confused that you felt there was "no owner presence and the site felt deserted". So I would like to clarify a few points. - At the time you stayed we had 13 other sets of guests (mostly families), so that fact it felt deserted we think is much more to our strength than our detriment. Our site holds up to 54 guests and whilst the campfire may have been empty in the daylight when you took your picture, I can only assume you weren't onsite in the nights (when it wasn't hammering with rain) when it was busy with guests and Adam trying to get tips for his fantasy football league. - Our reception area is an outside area only. The inside space is where we receive deliveries and also forms part of my house. This is not a manned internal reception, like perhaps you may have expected like a hotel. We accept arrivals from 4pm anywhere up to midnight. As Im sure you can understand, standing in my front porch is not a good use of my time when I live in the house its attached to. In terms of our interaction with guests, this depends mostly on the feel we get. But as a general rule our guests are checked in by us or our managers and are notified we are present at the horse box every morning for coffee and anything non- urgent (ref:owner presence and missing coffee facilities). We are also available every day (usually Paul or Adam) when checking your hot tub. We are available on whatapp or by ringing at reception and often around the campfire and for morning animal feeding. Im really therefore not sure how much more interaction you may have required from us? To my knowledge you called to ask to use the pizza oven. That day one of our team set the fire and prepared the oven for you so it was hot. You were directed to the digital handbook that we sent you before arrival (also available in your accommodation) for instructions on how to cook using the clay oven (under the title - site features - pizza oven). This is a self-catering feature so Im sorry if you felt abandoned in cooking your own food. You also have a fully fitted oven in your Roundhouse so Im confused as to why the produce went to waste? Perhaps you weren't so successful with your pizza making skills? We sadly had an issue over the last few weeks of the Summer holidays with our WIFI system, which I fully understand in the rain was frustrating, as it was for me. Sadly, we are not exempt from lengthy utility issues when they arise. But I can assure you I was doing all I could to try and resolve the situation. I do apologise if this caused any inconvenience for you. In terms of the car park, we fully accept this is an area that needs development. We have had plans in place to develop this space to make it more appealing. As we are a small family business and have only 1 year ago re-invested huge amounts in our amazing accommodation, this car park area has had to wait until we are in our position to push on again. I can only agree this area needs improvement and we will do so when we are finically able to. In terms of value for money you booked TWO Roundhouses with a hot tub each in a peak Summer week. A static caravan in our area is around the same price as a comparison. If you needed more of a busy, Butlins style stay, with on site restaurants and entertainment, I guess this may have been more suitable. But I am genuinely, sorry you felt we didn't meet your expectations.

This was a surprise for my 50th and what a surprise it was! I was shocked for words when we arrived to our beautiful roundhouse in the most idyllic setting. Paul greeted us and showed us the ropes and was friendly face along with his wife Sue giving us tips about the local area. The roundhouse was truly stunning and immaculately presented. So much so that it was a struggle to leave it each day to visit the local area. The hot tub was a dream come true and myself and my family spent hours in their relaxing and enjoying our beautiful surroundings. Our children loved feeding the animals and we gave them all names. We really hope to return one day. For those of you looking for a unique holiday away from the hustle and bustle of life this place and it’s hosts is a definite must!
