This is one of three campgrounds on the Whangaruru harbour. The beach is great for swimming and also for easy boat launching. There is a small shop with a few items for sale..the toilet and kitchen block is situated above the main camp area and is clean and tidy. The Oakura Bay store is a great shop where you can... More

Friendly team, on the phone & in person. Great to hear the sea at night. You can camp right on the waters edge and have the choice of several beaches, right out front or over the hill to Oakura (walking distance) where you can surf and there is a small shop. My children had so much fun with the other... More

Stayed one night in my tent here. When I arrived it was raining but Kelvin who works there, could not have been more helpful! So genuine and cares about his campers/holiday makers. Even though it was peak season showers were lovely and hot, community kitchen was clean and a great size. There is something magic about sleeping to the sound... More

We had a reservation to stay there, they knew we were coming, and I called them at 5:30 PM to say we'd be there soon but there was no answer and when we got there we found no one to check us in or open the cabin for us, even though they had a vacancy. Plenty of nice places to... More

A great spot on the beautiful Whangaruru Harbour allows for great walks either side of the camp, even in winter time. The room was clean and had good light and was comfortable, with a sunny morning deck. the location is great, close to the water and the village. The owners are kind and considerate and we had a good time.

We are so glad we chose this campsite to stay at from views, to fellow campers (including old friends and colleagues unknownly there at the same time) and friendly helpful hosts, we had a great time. We were surprised at the high use of the sand or beach road by cars towing boats, new to our experience, that aside everything... More

We stayed in unpowered sites for 9 nights over New Years. The facilities were all very clean and well set up with nothing being too much trouble for the owners. Nice small campground right on a lovely scenic bay. Only issue for us with little ones is that amount of car traffic going on the beach to the next bay.... More

My fiancé and I drove past this camp right on the beach with quite magical views over the bay. Was getting late so we have decided to stay. We were greeted right away and with very friendly approach. Rates are very reasonable for what there is to offer. Apart from camp site you can rent a room or a suite... More

Whangaruru Beachfront Camp is situated right on the beach at the entrance of the Whangaruru Harbour. This area is great for boating, ¬fishing and water sports and just over the hill you can enjoy the open sea and waves of Oakura Beach. The camp has been developed over the years and now has motels, cabins and 80 camp sites of... More
