Louise and David are the right people to run a B&B, very friendly and gracious hosts. Our room had a great view, was spotlessly clean and had "hotel grade" linens on the bed which was a nice surprise. The shared bathroom was spacious with lots of little extras and convenient to our rooms. The full English breakfast was just wonderful.... More

I can only echo what other people have already written. I turned up unannounced, tired and bedraggled from my days walking the SDW, and Louise and Dave were happy to show me the rooms. (I can imagine a lot of B&B owners might have turned me away). I chose the single room with its extra large single bed, which suited... More

My friend and I spent one night at The White House two days into walking the South Downs Way. On arrival Louise greeted us with tea and scones which was a lovely surprise (and most welcome)! The house itself felt pretty luxurious compared to some of the other B&Bs we stayed at along the Way. The bedrooms were very comfortable... More

Stayed one night on my cycle trip along the South Downs way. Was made very welcome on arrival and after a shower was invited for tea and cake on the terrace. Really felt that my hosts could not do enough to make my stay as comfortable as possible. The room was very comfortable and breakfast was excellent. Thoroughly recommended !

Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts,Louise and David. We were attending a wedding nearby and we were invited to arrive when we needed on the Saturday morning to change for the 'do'. Welcomed with tea, coffee and cakes and an offer to drive us to the venue which was really kind. We took over all 3 bedrooms ,all of... More

Visited The White House in the summer for a wedding and must say this is a lovely B&B with great views. Louise could not have done more to make us feel welcome and feel at home (even giving us a lift to the wedding venue). I would say that more photo's of the B&B should be shown to show it... More

After a long day walking the White House was extremely welcoming. Very nice house in a pretty location only a couple of hundred yards off the South Downs trail. Great room, bathroom ( not shared, but not en suite - bathrobes provided), breakfast wifi. A little remote and if you do not like the Plough Inn's menu (very good pub... More

Louise was a most wonderful host, this B&B is perfect for staying when walking SDW. We were welcomed with a freshly made pot of tea and biscuits (perfect after walking). The room was light, friendly and with a wonderful view, the bathroom very modern and spacious. Louise really spoils her guests, breakfast was absolutely beautiful and plentiful and Louise also... We stayed here as it was close to a wedding we were going to. Couldn't fault it: a very warm welcome from Lou (and the lady at the neighbouring B&B!), very clean and well kept, good breakfast (we must try the full English if we go back, sadly we didn't have time), and everything you would need in your room,... Another warm welcome from Louise and Dave. Our 5th year in a row at The White House. A perfect location for our overnight stop on our annual SDW bike ride. A warm welcome, hot shower, comfy bed after 65 miles on a bike from Winchester and a lovely breakfast. Also a pub 2 minutes away for an evening meal. Perfect!... More
