I really don't know what the bad reviews are talking about. We're on day 3 of a 10 day holiday and the hotel is very clean, new in many places and the staff are all friendly and polite. The room is smaller than some we've stayed in but we aren't here to sit in the room. The WET-room is also compact but again how much room do you really need to shower and use the toilet!?!! The pools are big enough for the hotel (there are 2) and the pool man is polite and checks the water etc at least daily from what we can tell. Food is typical buffet at an all inclusive hotel. Its the same everywhere. The restaurant is situated on top of the hotel with panoramic views and is quite warm since the aircon is obsolete, being an open air set up, but there is enough shade if you want/need it. The food was great last night (octopus) and I've been to enough places to know you won't please everybody as if you don't have chips and pasta they moan, if you have chips and pasta they moan. Beer, wine and soft drinks are available in the restaurant. The guys up there are great making sure all guests are wearing masks and gloves while walking around and getting food/drink. Lots of places are too relaxed and I personally would prefer more strict rules like here to protect us all. The pool bar (I think it might be the only bar atm) does local drinks and cocktails as part of the all-inclusive and if you want brands you have to pay but again that's the same in every all inclusive hotel I've been to in about 7 countries. All inclusive ends at 11pm - again pretty standard. Essentially if you speak to the staff nicely that's what you'll get back. If you go up to the bar, slam your cup down and just say BEER or OUZO without a please or thank you then you will prob not get a particularly warm response. You get back what you give out. There is only 1 staff member at the bar but I am sure that it's just as hard to get staff and minimise overcrowding during this pandemic in crete as it is everywhere else in the world at the moment so give the guys a break - they are working hard to make your holiday as enjoyable as poss whilst maintaining safety rules and laws.the cups are dishwasher plastic, but so what, and you are asked politely to bring cups back to the bar but that's to minimise the time the barman has to spend wandering around collecting them and have you all moan that there is no one behind the bar for 10mins! Can't have it both ways I'm afraid. Manos and Manos behind the bar are both lovely as are the reception staff and restaurant staff, the guest relations lady and the pool guy. Haven't spoken to a cleaner yet but I'm sure they're lovely too. Our biggest problem is the soap dispenser not working in the wetroom but I'm sure our holiday isn't ruined because of that like some would have you believe.... All in all we would def come back again.

Myself and partner stayed at City Green for a week in September. Upon arrival in the hotel we checked in to our room to discover a twin room which was extremely small. Upon requesting a double within 5 minutes the cleaners did rectify the error, however the beds were two twins pushed together with a mattress topper to disguise the bed as a ‘king bed’. As expected throughout the stay myself or partner would sink in to the gap between the single beds which was extremely uncomfortable. Other bad points about the room specifically was the lack of cleaning. We had requested our towels to be changed on day 4 of the stay due to not being offered clean towels. The response was that the cleaner was off sick? For the duration of the stay the floor mat was not changed once which is utterly disgusting. The room was not cleaned to a satisfactory standard and was supposedly cleaned every day. The bed sheet was pulled up over the pillows, the showers and toilets were never cleaned and rubbish was left in the bins. I do not see how Covid regulations have impacted on the cleanliness of a (4*!?) hotel. In fact, due to the pandemic the standard should be higher. We were situated on the bottom floor near reception and I feel may as well had a bed in reception due to the sheer volume of noise you could hear on a nightly and daily basis. There was no soundproofing of rooms what’s so ever and you could hear ever conversation in detail. This lead to being woken up in the late evening and early morning multiple times - impacting on my stay significantly and left me feeling tired and unrested. The cleaners left our back door ajar ever day which unsafe due to our room being situated on the ground floor. The also walked in multiple times (even when the door was locked) to clean without any hesitation and time to answer the door. My partner and I did not expect a high quality service from the hotel but the food was completely inedible. We ate at the hotel Resteraunt only twice during our stay. The evening meal that we tried was cold, the chips were uncooked and the meat was not being heated but left out for (what seemed like) the entire evening. We tried breakfast but was disappointed to be met with the same level of distaste due to the cold beans, and fatty bacon and dishevelled eggs. It was again appalling. There was no expectation of a huge buffet spread but the food was so bad we paid to eat out every day and evening, even after paying for an all-inclusive. The cocktails were not nice. They used the same ‘spirit’ in each cocktail, which was some kind of concoction the hotel has invented. When asked what this was it was told it was a ‘green spirit’ which doesn’t give much insight in to what it is you’re drinking. Gin and tonics were okay at best but I still chose to drink my own that was purchased outside the hotel. All in all, from the hotels I have stayed in previously in city centres that are 4* I am disappointed. Reading the below reviews it comes as no surprise that the experience we had was below average, and completely below a 4*. If you are seeking a clean, pleasant hotel I would not recommend staying here but would seek elsewhere.

Me and my girlfriend came to this hotel for a week all inclusive. Staff are very rude and have 0 customer service skills, food is horrendous and was freezing cold. We had to eat out every night. They couldn’t even cook chips properly which where still frozen inside. The noise in the room is unbearable you might as well have your bed in reception as there is no noise control for the rooms. The cleaners just walk in anytime of the day without nocking. Which is very rude. The cocktails are the worst I have ever had. I would honestly rate this hotel a 2 star, don’t believe this is a 4 star hotel. They have completely different rating systems here in Greece. Also none of this is due to COVID. It is just a awful hotel with angry staff. There is no positives to this hotel. If you are looking to book, you are best to stay 20 minutes walking distance from the city centre. As in the city centre these are the types of hotels you get. Please avoid!!!!!!!

A brilliant week at the City Green Hotel......a short walk from the busy main road, brings you to a tranquil and calm setting. The hotel has gone through some drastic transformations to make it Covid friendly...from talking to at least two groups if returning guests (one couple returning for the 5th year and another group on their 3rd visit), the restaurant has moved from and indoor setting to a rooftop open air setting.....and a second pool was added over the past 3 years. We were greeted as we checked in late at night and offered a plate of food and a bottle of water each....which was a nice touch. The staff were exceptional..polite and always willing to please...from Kiril in reception, to Manos & Manos in the poolside bar and up to Dimitri and Georgiou in the restaurant. However, I did experience some very poor customer service on our last day, once in reception where the guy didn't seem to bothered by our report that the TV wasn't working..."it must work" and "it has to work" were his only offerings.......as it later turned out, it was a signal reception issue, which had cleared up by the time we booked out...and in the restaurant at lunch, one of the kitchen staff/servers was rude beyond belief to my wife...this was witnessed by Dimitri and he stepped in to calm the issue down. All the other staff were great, I just didn't get all their names. Housekeeping was excellent...beds made and towels changed on a daily basis and the bedding changed every 4 days. The two swimming pools were both a bit on the small side, but then taking into account the number of rooms in the hotel, they were more than big enough for the number of guests and you could usually get a sunbed okay. The food was typical all inclusive buffet fare....its not a la carte and it doesn't claim to be......it is a BUFFET service...so not sure what some people are expecting. I do have to say though that the food was not the hottest and although very delicious, the variation was not very good......pasta, chips and rice available every day....more traditional Greek dishes would be a good idea.....and the dessert variation is very poor...the same type of things every day....a lot more variation is needed here. A wide variety of drinks were available at every mealtime. I too was a bit disappointed with the lack of entertainment but I think that Covid regulations have put paid to that. Rooms......comfortable and smart....tea/coffee making facilities but no tea/coffee (had to buy our own)....air conditioning was a blessing, and a) it was free and b) it worked! Toilet/wet room was a bit snug, but I coped OK (I am 6ft 2, and fat) so if I can cope...anyone can....Our toilet and shower were divided by a glass panel, but it was OBVIOUSLY a wet room so water all over the floor is going to happen. Big plus for this hotel is that it is adults only......so no young children running around. Is it a 4☆ hotel?....I think it is stuck somewhere between 3☆ and 4☆......but all in all a thoroughly enjoyable holiday and yes, we would return here in a heartbeat.

Arrived here at 10pm and was dropped off at the bottom of the street as no buses would get up to where the hotel is located . Check is was quick and pleasant we were given a plate of food and 2 bottles of water as expected being all inclusive. Had food went to the bar for drink was refused as it was 11.01pm and all inc finished at 11.00 pm . Explained we just arrived but was just told to late unless we wanted to pay!! Went to the room which to be fair is of a decent standard nothing more . There is a small fridge and minisafe and free air conditioning which is a blessing . The bathroom is very small .The shower is something else mind there isn’t a cubicle just a curtain which will stick to you as you shower, the bathroom floor will be saturated by the time you finish . Tv in room with very limited channels which ok we don’t come to watch tv but given the fact there is also no daytime or evening entertainment at all ( due to COVID ? I don’t know )maybe a few channels would help . A couple of music channels ? Pool area is good , small pool but never had an issue getting a lounger. Food is restaurant is possibly the worst I’ve seen on an all inclusive. If you don’t like pasta or rice you may struggle to eat anything . Everything is Luke warm at best .2 types of melon and grapes is the only other option. Self serve wine beer and soft drinks in restaurant which is good , 2 drinks per person in the pool bar which is the only bar ?? Maybe given COVID restrictions etc or we may just have come at a bad time but I’m failing to see how this is ranked at 4 stars . Towels and bedding not been changed as yet 6 days in and even toilet rolls not refilled !!! So Apart from the location there is nothing else which I would even consider coming back here for . Sorry guys
