Many Mexicans don’t know about this hidden jewel tp experience a decent amount of adrenaline. Whether with friends or families, I’d you want to stay in a 5-star resort in the middle of the Veracruz rainforest, well don’t look any further. This has been my 8th visit to Rodavento in25 years and the quality and service have been consistent ever since. The restaurant serves 3 top of the line meals a day. At night you will be falling asleep with the typical sounds of a rainforest scene. Those same sounds will wake up you in the morning. Rodavento only hires experienced guides that will be on your side always. They always ride with 2 additional rafts that can intervene for rescues if needed (although they unusually engage...)

We went to Jalcomulco for the rapids. This hotel has everything, nice rooms, excellent food and great tours. The first day we took a nice hike along the river and the second day we went to the rapids. I felt always safe with good equipment and profesional people. I am visiting them again for sure. Profesionales, tienen muy buen equipo para los rápidos y el cañonismo, además que el hotel es muy bonito y se come muy bien. No dejen de probar las acamayas (langostinos de río) en el pueblo. Definitivamente voy a regresar.

Great place in a great location. You can enjoy both: adventure and relaxation. People at the hotel are willing to help. You have different activities, the sound of the river, good food. We had a bungalow; it is small but good enough. Perfect for 2 or 3 days.

The place is very nice and well kept. The gardens are beautifully kept and the cabins are charming and very clean. Although simple, they have everything you might need: good beds, nice bathroom, plenty of places to hang and store stuff, clean water. They can easily sleep up to 4 people and are super fun for kids, since they get to sleep in small loft-like spaces. There is a fan and it can get a bit hot and stuffy sometimes, but it can also be cool. Birds which make very interesting sounds start to wake you up early. If you don't like the sounds of nature so early in the morning, bring earplugs. All the activities were super fun and security was taken very serioiusly at all times. The equipment was of very good quality and the staff were all very well trained. We did the rapids (what most people do), a walk in the canyon (possible when there isn't too much water) which was absolutely wonderful, rock climbing, zip line. We also did the retro bikes (included in our package) to cycle to town, eat ice cream and check out the crafts stores. The morning we did the canyon it was overcast and cold. We all got wetsuits and had a fantastic time. The meals are great, homemade, diverse and plentiful, with desert and coffee too. The bar has cold beer (it could store better licquor, such as non-Mexican gin!). The pool is great and clean with very nice views and there is sufficient garden space to play frisbee or soccer. There is a hammock area from which you can hear the river. They have a great photographer who takes nice photos of everything you do which you can purchase at the end for some US$40. Two drawbacks: 1) The map they give you to get there is HORRIBLE. Make sure you leave enough time to arrive during the day and not at night, as rural highways are not well lit and can be dangerous. Get precise directions over the phone. 2) Their info says kids 8 and up can do the rapids. They can't, unless they are 12 because the insurance does not cover them. That said, they were super accommodating and added other activities instead. We did the 3 day, 2 night stay with 4 kids and had a blast, with plenty of activities to keep everyone busy but also plenty of time to eat, drink and relax in beautiful surroundings.

This resort is a great place to getaway from everything and everyone (except for the people you're traveling with). While on the expensive side, the place is very relaxing and romantic. All the cabins are cute with private bathrooms. The amenities are basic with shampoo/conditioner, soap, towels, and a pitcher of fresh water that they refill every day, but then again, if you're at the resort, you're probably not spending that much time in the room anyway (unless you're trying to get away from the bugs, which on that note, do bring lots of bug repellent). The restaurant's food is really good - tastes like you're at someone's mom's house. The only downsides were: well, the bugs, the humidity, the fact that the front desk wasn't always open (and that's where you get the best WiFi connection), and the cleanliness - which for cabins, weren't bad at all, but our sheets had blood stains on them, which wasn't so pleasant. (After experiencing the bugs, we figured out that the blood stains were probably from someone having scratched their way through the skin while on the bed.) Overall, the place was relatively basic, but relaxing with excellent activity options (aka GO RAFTING), which is exactly what we were looking for. When booking a room, try to get one closer to the green as the ones that are closer to the parking lot are surrounded by gravel and you can hear everyone walk by.
