Booked just the one night here as part of a little solo road trip on my week off. Other reviews were promising and the pictures even more so. On arrival I was shown to a nice double room in the "roof space" of the main house, up a stone spiral staircase via some stunning function rooms and stone stairs again.... More

I booked one night here on the way to Devon and after a long drive arrived in the village at midnight. I had tried to phone the B&B three times on the way to get clearer directions but no-one bothered to answer the phone. Drove around for half an hour as couldn't find it so had to ask at another... Was so pleasantly surprised after booking a room here that I would be staying in the main house, after all how many times have you stayed in a stately home? The room was lovely and the view from the window was stunning. Very helpful and friendly staff also ensured my stay was entirely pleasant. Will definitely endeavour to stay here... More

This is a wonderful old building with beautiful grounds. I loved the old flagged floors and historic feel to the place. Breakfast was very good , fresh coffee and well cooked food.I would recommend a stay here.

This is an amazing estate and the b&b was charming and historical. I had a great room with king size bed, unfortunately it was rock hard, to the point of disturbing my sleep. Many of the features such as windows were very old and interesting, also single glazed, but quality, thermal lined curtains kept out the cold. A couple of... More

I get excited every time I visit here. My partner lives in the area but with his mum so when I visit I book a room here. It's always amazing value for money and I haven't had a bad experience. The beds are super comfortable and it's a really cosy historical experience. I love the tree lined drive and the... More

A lovely spectacular place to stay. You approach down a long tree lined drive, on the lip of a low hill. I arrived at night so didn't see what a fantastic old house this is; I nothing about architecture but it's old showing a solid square face to the world. I had a room downstairs and it wasn't en suite... More

Love this building. Lots of character with mullioned windows stone frames and flagstones for flooring. Breakfastis an adventure too with the help yourself to things etc fitting in with the character. Great views overlooking the gardens and all very quiet out in the countryside. Gorgeous long tree lined drive too.

I recently stayed at the Fat Pigeon, room 16. This is a family room and a very good size. Whilst I was a lone traveller I could imagine staying in the room with a family and still having plenty of space for everyone. Twin wash basins in the bathroom a great idea for a family. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. The... More

A very old mansion with beautiful gardens, extremely quiet - except that the neighbor in his room can be clearly heard. Since there are at most two, it is not a major issue. The creaking floorboard also not but the holes in it and the "rural" design might cause some irritations. My room however was really gorgeous although small and... More
