Clean, comfortable, no frills. Breakfast was nice, and farm-fresh with many of the items from Marita's farm in the highlands. You can request eggs to order (although I don't think they advertise this). Marita was a lovely hostess and she helped confirm our next transit plans. Power went out on our first night on the island, had to use a cell phone flashlight to find the way home. Once at the hotel, they provided flashlights for all guests. Also, worth mentioning that everyone we interacted with in the reception area had excellent English. (General tips for the island: you will sunburn in 30 minutes of even overcast skies--bring SPF70 and maybe a 2nd bottle. Local pricing is $30+. Bring Sawyer mosquito repellent. And maybe avoid March, their hottest month. The midday heat was stifling. Also, we aware that your bedroom may be the only place with AC. Every single restaurant was open-air. Everyone on the island was friendly though, and it even took several days for our dive tour company to let us settle the bill....island time.)

We would stay here again. Beach chairs, towels, outside shower. On the beach. Next to a nice little mangrove where marine iguanas hang out. Easy walk to concha and town. Staff is very friendly. Room was very spacious.

Stayed at the La Casa de Marita in Feb 2020. The location of this hotel is very convenient - it is right on the Puerto Villamil beach. Their patio literally opens onto the beach, has hammocks and rocking chairs to use while you enjoy the sound of the waves. The staff is very attentive and courteous. The layout of the hotel is like a beach-house, the decor and landscaping is very interesting and inviting. They have a restaurant on site as well. The rooms were clean and air conditioning was available.

We stayed as a family of four with young children. As soon as we arrived the kids screamed, "Seals!!!" and ran to the beach. They were pleased to see the marine iguanas and exotic birds. And that's how it was every morning and every afternoon after an excursion - children running to the beach. We caught our daughter just frolicking with the seals which appeared to be doing tricks for her. However, I don't think the older European naturalists who were journaling enjoyed the break in their silence. The food was good. The rooms were simple, but faced the ocean. It was an easy walk to town. Service was wonderful. The hotel fit the locale and vibe. We were pleased. There is a laundry mat a couple of blocks down which was inexpensive and quick!

This hotel looks nice but me and my friend had a very strange experience. We were there to ask information about the price of the room etc but we did not see anyone. I used the bathroom while waiting but when they see me coming out of the bathroom the lady (owner?) was (really!) shouting at me how unpolite it was to use the bathroom without asking. She was right of course, I should have asked but I felt a bit sick so I decided to use the bathroom without asking. I apologized for using the bathroom and tried to explain that I was sick and there was no time to ask. Then a man came as well and he was even worse! Calling us ***holes😱! We were a bit upset afterwards because this behavior was really wrong in our opinion. We met so many nice people on Isabela island, so we were flabbergasted with this behavior. Later that day we talked to a few people who stayed in that hotel and they also said they had a few bad experiences. I would definitely stay somewhere else because there are so many great hotels on the beach (even with better prices and better location!!). Hopefully this review helps others, i felt a bit threatened (after ‘only’ using a bathroom... i didn’t steel anything ;)). I just wanted to share my experience.

We’re sorry to hear about your uncomfortable experience during your time in Isabela. On the day you visited our hotel’s services, we noticed your companion waiting for you, and approached her to see if any assistance was needed. She confirmed it wasn’t necessary, and we we had short conversation in which absolutely no insults were made. Thank you for your comment. Your feedback contributes to our improvement as a learning opportunity, and we appreciate it. Best regards,
