We had an unplanned trip to the north on Friday afternoon when unforeseen conditions caught us up and we had to sleep 🛏 at Protea for a night. When arrived there was no electricity but we got help as quick as possible after a long way of driving from Windhoek all we had to do is to have a rest. The best day we had our breakfast 🥞 and we continued with our journey to Ruacana Falls. We had a nice stay though.

Probably one of the better hotel in this remote environment. Great effort by staff to be hospitable and welcoming. Enjoyed their scrumptious breakfast. I would think the rooms are due for a timely refurbishment.

I stay in Ondangwa. Several times we went to Protea restaurant. Every time I promised myself not to go there any more. First of all tables are often dirty, tablecloth with stains. But the worse is personal’s attitude. It seems like they have only one waiter. That waiter always look at us like with anger. He is not frandly at all. I feel like he wants us to go away and not come back any more. The waiter doesn’t no how to talk to customers at all. We always feel not comfortable in protea restaurant

This hotel is horrible - a complete shocker. From booking to check out, a nightmare of poor customer service. No one was at reception when we arrived, the rooms are old and poorly maintained, rusting taps, stuffy carpets, old washed out curtains, and furniture from the 1980's!! The restuarant service is slow as they are poorly staffed. One untrained waitress was on duty. We waited 45 minutes for our meal ....and low amd behold the food was terrible. I will never stay at this hotel ever again, or at least not until management makes a conscious decision to do some serious upgrades to the property. It's not worth the rates they charge and is serious damaging the Marriot brand. I hope they take this review seriously.

This is the first and hopefully the last time I judge a hotel like this. It started allready as we checked-in. After a 15 minutes wait we asked the pregnant lady that was sitting in the office next to the reception if there was someone available to help us. She had seen us coming in, but apparently did not want to help us. When we showed her our voucher, she looked at it like an alien came out of it. After looking at it for more then 3 minutes, we asked her if something was wrong. She didn't answer. She was staring at the computer and the voucher and all our questions stayed onanswered. She was humming a bit, but didn't talk. After ten minutes of staring at the computer, we got our room key from her. Al the time she did not say a word. At any moment we thought seriously that she couldn't talk. The pool was absolutely not clean en the sunbeds…...you could immediately go to the hospital with back problems. In the evening at dinner it was a big chaos in the restaurant. There was a group of 14 and everything that they ordered: they didn't get. Our food was also not the food that we ordered, but the chaos was so big that we eat it. Drinks flew through the restaurant and the waiter started to panic more and more. Drinks were served at the wrong tables and we were told that they did not have a specific drink (peppermint liqueur}, while we allready saw it behind the bar. So we ordered the drink ourselves at the bar. The breakfast was good, but the "egglady", was sitting so umotivated behind the counter, that we were afraid to order something. There was only one good thing in this hotel and that was the exit. Never, ever again this hotel.
