4 Pohon is an Ecolodge run with solar panels, fitered water, self grown vegetables, a 3.5 hectare on a riverside with unpolluted waters. Kayaking on the river til the sea in a wild scenery. Nice Indonesian-french food with home made bread, cake and jam. Price includes bicycles for going around and a nice Indonesian or french breakfast. Cold beer and fresh juice available. Prices range from 60.000 IDR for campers til 700.000 IDR for a private bungalow. Rooms 250.000 til 350.000 IDR.
This beautiful place has been in my radar for some time and i just got a chance to visit it recently. It started when i did weekend riding from Ruteng to Nanga Lok in East Manggarai that took me around 4 hours. It was a long but an easy ride with few unsealed roads. After a long ride with sun is up high in the sky i decided to head to 4 Pohon to try my luck if i could get a cold beer. Whoala! 140 km from Ruteng with no signal and relatively remote but i got what i want. No stop there, they also provide a la carte lunch, ice cream, cocktail, homemade spread and many. I spent my time to relax and enjoying the compound of the property, it is so green with many trees, spacious and private, self powered with solar PV and water from a well. I decided to spent night so i can enjoy the surrounding area like Watu Payung Beach, Rana Rugu Beach and Nanga Lok Hill when the sun is low. Worth it!!!! The road access to this place is under construction, it is now unsealed but compressed so no big issues for automatic scooter like Vario, Soul, Aerox, NMAX, PCX - you mention it. We may expect this road will be paved at the end of this year or next year at the latest. I booked this accommodation on spot but if you want to book it in advance, you may drop a message to the owner, Olivier. Since there is no signal in this area yet, the owner will be checking the message in regular basis because the signal spot is 12 km toward east or 20 km west. But don't worry, he will respond so give yourself enough buffer time before you visit. I went here solo i was the only guest. I does not matter if you go solo or with friends this place will accommodate your interest. You can have your own space and time of you can have some fun with your friends. Night sky is beautiful with full of starts,milkyway is easily spotted. I had arak/grape ice cream - delicious one and they have several options, palm wine cocktail, squid, mixed veggies and of course cold beer. I had outdoor shower under the stars and very good sleep. It is a recommended place for your soul and to have private time. Quiet and Peaceful!

Olivier has created this eco-lodge through 15 years of blood, sweat and tears. The property is in an idyllic setting and Olivier is a very welcoming and hospitable host. I was coming to the end of a very long day of travel when I stumbled upon 4Pohon. I was welcomed with a glass of cold ice tea, shown to my room and then served home made pasta and ice cream. I enjoyed a shower under the stars and listening to the sounds of nature. I really enjoyed my stay and really loved chatting to Olivier. He is a lovely man with a passion for adventure and living outside the status quo. I wasn’t able to make it work to go on one of his motorbike adventure tours, but from what he told me and the photos/videos he showed me, I have no doubt they’d be an amazing experience! If you’re looking for simple, very well priced accomodation, in a peaceful, beautiful setting and far away from the tourist traps, you need to spend some time with Olivier and his family at 4Pohon! You will not regret it. I had one of the best sleeps I’ve had after almost a month in Indonesia. If you want to get off the ‘main road’ check out this place!

I’ve never seen a place like that. In the middle of nowhere 4 Pohon is the perfect place to relax or to start your adventures. Everything is kept simple but extraordinary at the same time (e.g. the shower under the tower). The owner family treats you as one of them and includes you at their dinner. You can perfectly relax, practice your slack line skills, take a walk on the property - it’s huge - or start trecking or kayak tours. Impressive is also, that they are mostly autonomous. They have their own chickens, grow their own vegetables, use the sun for electricity and the water from a well. A real eco lodge
We felt extremely welcome and good taken care of.
Not the right place for internet junkies though as you don’t get a signal anywhere close. But we enjoyed the time offline a lot.

A hidden gem and great opportunity to enjoy the quiet countryside. The owners are incredibly friendly and the rooms, while basic, are very clean. Absolutely recommended before/after a day of snorkeling at the nearby 17 islands, which is only ~45 mins away due to the newly-installed road.

Very quiet area and very warm welcome. The resort is located away from typical tourist places but still not far from the sea with nice beach and sunset. River at proximity where you can enjoy swimming or use canoe. Meals and drinks prepared and provided by the owners of the place (mix French/Indonesian couple). You leave the place fully refreshed 😍.

We spent around 3 weeks at 4pohon Ecolodge during corona virus pandemic. A time to remember! We met Olivier the owner, just right on time as he just back to Flores. We took route from Ruteng-Reo-Pota (easier access for car).Place is so nice and green, peacefully. Food was amazing,thanks to Renza,she has magic hand! You can go around to do biking,kayak even fishing on the river. Everything just perfect to enjoy the nature. You can rent bungalows or just tend for camping. Owner so helpful and it's possible to ask whatever you need. For the bikers, you can ask Olivier for all Flores dirt road map! He is the best! What else can I say, very recommended place!

We absolutely loved our stay at empat pohon. Olivier and rensa are lovely people. The food is also very good. If you like silence, peacefull and calmness definitely come here. Around there are enough things to do. You can go for a walk around the villages nearby, swim in river, go kayaking, ... We absolutely loved to Bawe beach for sunset. You can go on your own or the nice staff member Alfa can go with you. To be recommended. We stayed 4 nights and loved every minute of it.

Very nice bedroom,great beds..a real oasis. Best food you can possible find in Flores Not to be missed Please do the Kajak tour,go to the waterfall and swim in the ocean. Olivier and his wife are great host that will make you more than welcome. They bake their own bread and cakes...as french do!!
