Lovely place for a quiet lunch and bottle of the Château wine. Owner is delightful and two lovely dogs make this a cosy place. We’ll be back on a regular basis! I can recommend all the platters. Perfect on a sunny day.
We went with a group of friends for wine and Taps on a Sunday afternoon. We had a walk around the garden and across the lovely terrace overlooking the lake. When we went to sit at the table we had booked it was situated not on the lovely terrace but on a stoney sloping car park type area with no views. Cars were coming past, causing dust, on their way to the alternative parking area. The owner took our order and as there were a number of us, she decided we should have platters to share rather than individual. At 15 euros per head when there was little if any difference in size between a single, doubleor a platter for three to share, we felt very short changed,. Apart from which no spoons were provided, in the current Covid climate not hygenic. They were very disorganised, unprepared, and I presume short of food for the tapas. Wine at the table was double the price of the wine in their shop, so rather expensive for a corkage charge. We are in France, this is not how they do things in France. It was Not value for money, we did not feel particularly welcome, just an inconvenience, and a very, we felt money grabbing experience, and definitely not to be repeated. Sadly It could if managed well have been fabulous. We will not be returning.…
Whenever we go to Chateau Carbonneau we have such a welcome and personal experience. Wilfred and family are always so friendly. The wine and food are always delicious and the location spectacular. I cannot recommend this lovely place enough.
We stayed in the Telephone Room for 4 nights in June 2019 while attending a wedding at Chateau Rigaud nearby. The bedroom and bathroom were very spacious, there was plenty of space to hang our clothes and store luggage, and the bed was comfortable. I was a bit concerned about noise given it's an old house with our bedroom doors opening onto the main hallway, but we slept so well and never heard a peep from the hallway or above. The chateau is decorated in a very charming way, and the hospitality provided by the owners, staff, and family dogs was very warm, genuine, and professional. Jacquie's cakes and snack platters are absolutely delicious and so nice to linger over in the tea room, patio, and back terrace (we enjoyed a lot of platters throughout our stay) along with their wide offering of wine. The estate is beautifully kept, with gorgeous views of the surrounding hills, especially at sunset. The village of Gensac is a stone's throw away, and the charming town of St Emilion is only 30 minutes by car. Beautiful place for couples, families, or even solo travelers to stay. We look forward to returning one day!…
Stayed for one night before attending a wedding in Chateau Rigaud. Chateau Carbonneau is very beautiful outside and homely inside. Our room, Chambre du Parc was lovely. The following morning, we were looking forward to sitting outside and enjoying our breakfast, while taking in the view. However, the long table had been set up for all guests staying. Six guests had eaten and a family of three were seated when we arrived. The previous guests plates etc had not been cleared and it was hard to identify what was clean. We waited 10 minutes and then went looking for someone to clear the dirty plates, reset the table and refresh the breakfast. In the end we gave up and checked out. Frustratingly, after a 15 minute wait for someone to check us out, I shared why we were leaving without breakfast before going to sightsee in Bergerac and how disappointed we were. The response was an apology, followed by the opportunity to buy wine before we left! …
