Morritt's Resorts, nestled in a secluded area, is often lauded for its tranquil atmosphere and pristine cleanliness, with guests highlighting the well-maintained grounds. While the resort offers a variety of amenities and is conveniently close to local attractions, some visitors have called for updates and maintenance. The staff's service garners mixed reactions, ranging from commendations for their friendliness to critiques of occasional poor responsiveness. Guests frequently note the rooms as being outdated and cramped, with additional charges and high amenity costs sometimes overshadowing the overall value.

My wife and I had a great vacation at Morritt's Tortuga Club on Grand Cayman. The resort is immaculate and extremely well maintained. There are three pools: An infinity edged pool with a swim-up bar, a large salt water pool and also with a swim-up bar, and then an adults-only pool w/o the bar. The adults-only pool was a nice quiet place to hang out. Our room was for 2 people only and had a full kitchen. There is a grocery store and a liquor store right across the road and it was very easy to stock up with breakfast and lunch foods in the full sized refrigerator. The Cayman dollar is worth $1.20 of the USA dollar, so those meals in the room save you quite a bit over a week's time. A typical meal out for two with 2 of drinks each will go about $180.00, so it's important to know before you go if you're on a budget. The resort is close to several restaurants and there is a decent restaurant at the resort as well. Being at the eastern end of Grand Cayman is a blessing as it gets you away from there crazy traffic and congestion on 7-mile beach strip at the West end of the island. We really liked it out there and we rented a car, which is necessary if you want to see all of the sites on-island. The island has many attractions that kept up busy all week. The island people were fabulous and friendly and we didn't meet a grumpy person all week. The resort has lots of sport options: Jet Skis, Snorkeling, Scuba Diving, Sailing, kayaking, etc. We did snorkel right in front of the hotel and it was pretty good for going off of the beach. The water is clean and pristine and the beach is adequate and sandy. We only stay on the resort one day. That was the day that there were 3 cruise ships in port and 17,000 additional folks milling around. The resort keeps track of this to help you decide when to venture onto 7 mile beach on the West End, and when to avoid the area. We liked the resort so much that we purchased a time-share in their newest property while we were there. In took us 2 years to get an exchange as it was and we really want to got back!

We spent last week in two two bedroom condos at The Grand. The condos have been beautifully renovated and are stunning. The unobstructed condo views are of white sand beach, palm trees and miles of blue/green Caribbean Sea. We snorkeled, visited Sting Ray City, hung out at the beach and the infinity edge pool next to our condo, visited the botanical gardens, enjoyed karaoke at Mimi's and great meals at Tukka, La Casita and David's. Resort activities were a blast for my two granddaughters, ages 6 and 9. There is DAILY housekeeping. This resort is high end in every respect. I wish I could attach pictures! The pictures on the website do not do The Grand justice. You should rent a car and plan for possible road construction delays to or from the airport. If you are lucky, Stefan will be your activities coordinator at the Information Center.

We are long time owners, 30+ years, and although we love the location, they are falling behind. I felt the units were dated, furniture not very comfortable, the carpet on the stairs in the condo was shabby looking, again dated, and needing replacement. The doors needed paint/cleaning, or both. The beach needs major cleaning. They use a machine that only smooths out the sand, does not remove junk, including plastics, bottle caps etc. The beach chairs stay where you and I left them yesterday with no attempt to rearrange/ organize for next day. I will explain this shortly. They have two buildings with elevators, the Wembley and the Londoner. Everything else will have you hauling heavy suitcases up to 2/3 floors. Those two buildings were destroyed by hurricane Ivan? think its the right one. Otherwise the rest of the buildings look older and needing a facelift. We paid over $250 per week for electric surcharge, and they won't tell you this if you buy. Then add the standard $10 room tax daily, and for two weeks and you are paying around $600 for the two weeks before you spend a penny there. They are starting a new building, Londoner II, groundbreaking in May. It will be a different concept, only 15 units, where you buy your week permanently. It means if you buy a week, say first week in May, it will be yours going forward, no need to book yearly, as long as you pay your maintenance fees. Didn't bother to ask what that will be. The pre construction price is $130K, yes $130K. Once they start building it goes to $180K!!! It will have your own pool and bar upstairs. I was told they were trying to emulate prices in seven mile beach, which makes little sense as this is not seven mile beach. Secluded, maybe, but you are paying for a lot more activity over there. Then there is the issue of the older parts of the resort. If I am paying this much money, I want the entire place to look similar. Getting back to the looks of the resort and how it is maintained, they have serious competition next door. The Windham has a large resort right next door called the Reef. I have no idea what they are selling weeks for, but we finally spent a little time walking/eating the grounds ans restaurant. It is obviously newer, well laid out. The grounds/ beach are well maintained. Beach chairs always in neat rows in the morning. They have little pools/hot tubs along the front of the units very nicely designed and lit. We saw grownups/ kids in them in the evening when we finally took the plunge and went to eat at their restaurant, I think called Edge. The experience was far better than David's at our resort. The restaurant was modern, airy and well laid out. The service was excellent, and the food and presentation was also excellent. It was so much so, we ate there 4 times over the two weeks we were at Tortuga, and probably will not eat at David's again until they make changes. What we saw of their units at night, looking through the lit sliding glass doors also looked good, not fancy, but modern. I am not pushing this resort, as much as indicating Morritt's need to up their game. It is long past the time where they were the only game in town. We own both at the Londoner and Wembley, so we have a stake in our resort and want to see it improve.

We enjoyed our stay in Morritts, our unit was upgraded from original 1 bedroom to very spacious 2 bedroom oceanfront. We loved snorkeling off the pier, pools, and friendly atmosphere. We traveled with our son who is disabled, and this resort was very disability friendly, with accessible parking available by every building.

Mold in shower I cleaned it. Broken locks on front door and patio. Patio door will self lock if you are not careful when going on patio to relax them you have to wait for someone to walk by so they can help.

Cleaned by lovely house keepers. Pool by our room was clean, and not as crowed as the pools by the water. Grocery store only a short walk for anything you need. There was also a liquor store in the same plaza. When we had supper at the resort it was very good, as was eating off the resort. Best to rent a car across from the airport. Easy to drive on the island, but keep on the LEFT. Toured the caves, We did the famous Stingray City with White Sand Water Sports and the captain was fantastic, and he knows his stingrays. Had me feel where the mother stingray carries her babies. They are heavy and so soft. You leave early before it gets crowded. This company knows what gets you the best locations. This is a must to do!

Nice location and resort but horrible room. The carpets were very stained as well as the furniture. We felt uncomfortable sitting without putting towels. Broken tiles throughout the kitchen and bathroom.

Morritt's Tortuga was a poor choice for my RCI exchange it did not compare to any accommodation I have ever stayed in. No view, on the road, the furthest building away from everything. 3 flights of stairs, no hot water, plus the front desk staff come across and greet you as royalty until you ask for anything they have to go out of their way for. Now the Grand would be different! Ground Staff are Pleasant!!!!

5-star hotel with curious staff. Right on the beach. Beautiful ocean views an landscapes that are kept very clean. Amenities were great with washer & dryer in unit! Walk out to beach! Watch the sunrises! Multiple pools and jacuzzis, and a good gym with an area for yoga! I should warn you that the island is expensive!
