Nestled in a less commercial area, Wyndham Reef Resort is celebrated for its scenic oceanfront location and tranquil vibe, although it's suggested that guests have a car for easier exploration. The cleanliness and family-friendly atmosphere are frequently commended, with spacious rooms adding to the comfort. While the service is generally lauded for being warm and helpful, a few guests have encountered inconsistencies.
The resort's value is debated; some guests find it reasonable, while others are put off by additional costs. The amenities are well-liked, but the all-inclusive option and dining choices have room for improvement.

Located in the quiet but picturesque East End of Grand Cayman on its own beautiful white sand beach, Wyndham Reef Resort is a great place to kick back. Yes, it has events if you like that kind of thing (from fish-feeding to beach volleyball to bingo to aquarobics), but you can easily avoid all that stuff too. We stayed at the quieter (north) end of the resort, away from the pools and the Beach Bar (which can get noisy, especially when there is live music), and it was really quiet and peaceful. We chose the third floor (there is an elevator) to avoid scraping chairs and midnight stomping, but I think we needn't have worried (the rooms seem pretty well sound-proofed). Our room was spacious and well-appointed, with a full kitchen and a balcony overlooking the beach. I appreciated that the toilet flushed quietly and the doors don't creak, and that the lighting was good and bright. Air-conditioning worked fine, although we hardly needed it in January: it was a comfortable pleasant temperature. Room cleaning was every 3 days (unless you ask for more), so unnecessary washing is avoided, and you book a beach towel out at the start of your stay, so no unnecessary washing of clean towels either. Shampoo and shower gel was in refillable containers. Little things. There is recycling, although it's hidden away behind the tennis courts and not otherwise mentioned. Tides Restaurant, Beach Bar and Coffee Shop are all fine, if a bit pricey (it IS still Cayman, after all!) with a surprising number of vegetarian and vegan dishes on offer too. But there is also Fosters supermarket just across the road, so you can cook in if you want a change and some cheaper prices. The beach is lovely, although the ocean can be a bit rough when it is windy (which seems to be often), and there is a reef and seaweed to negotiate. You can walk a long way on the beach in both directions. Staff were pleasant and helpful in the main. Check in and check out was painless. Wifi was fine (in the room, in the common areas, even on the beach). There's a small gym, a spa, basketball and tennis courts, laundry facilities, ample parking. everything you might need, really. No complaints.

This was our first trip to Grand Cayman. After a delayed long haul flight we just wanted to go to bed. The check in procedure was tedious, with too many instructions particularly regarding our all inclusive package. Our top floor deluxe studio was lovely, the bed so comfortable we slept for hours. Our room was to be cleaned every 3 days (never heard of this before), if we wanted fresh towels we had to call reception and leave our old ones outside the room. Again a bit strange. Our room was cleaned the day before we checked out.
The food was beautifully presented and delicious- again a bit confusing as to what was included, our waitresses had to explain the procedure for us. What wonderful staff, happy, friendly and helpful.
It was the hotels ‘off season’ so not too many guests, everyone polite and friendly. Many of the guests were timeshare owners and repeat visitors and spoke very positively about their investment.
There were plenty of loungers available and tables for lunch and dinner. The staff work so hard to keep the resort clean - from window cleaning, to beach clearing and everything else in between.
We enjoyed driftwood painting and tie dye t.shirts, activities we would not have normally done also fish feeding at 4.30, not to be missed. The sea is warm and clear absolutely perfect.
Car hire is available across the road at Andy’s for around $50 per day. We visited Rum point, Starfish Bay and the caves one day and decided to hire a car to drive back to the airport- about one third of the price of taking a taxi. The drop off point was directly opposite the terminal building, literally a 50metre walk which was perfect.
After a couple of days we soon settled in to a wonderful relaxing holiday. We were pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed our stay and will be returning. Thank you to everyone who made our stay so enjoyable.

We were looking for a nice quiet all-inclusive resort, and we found it! We were impressed with the cleanliness of the grounds, and the beach was well kept of seaweed removal. The resort is starting to show its age. We had no issues with our room. The staff was very friendly, and a special shout out to Gopi and Ray for always taking care of us. They were very attentive when we dined, and they always remembered our choice of beverage. I would have given a 10 for satisfaction, but my one setback with the all-inclusive package was having to get a new tab every single time we wanted a water, soft drink, or alcohol beverage. I wish the tab would have been left open until we ended our day relaxing on the beach. Thank you, Berwick Travel, for arranging our accommodations and airport transfer, your service was outstanding! We highly recommend them.

Let's first talk about the location, (this is not a rating factor), We have stayed in 7 mile beach and we have stayed in East Bay. This part of the island is quiet and not as touristy, but a good one hour drive from the airport and 7 mile beach. The water is not as beautiful as 7 mile and if the island is windy, East Bay is going to be way more windy. Now back to the resort, we got the 2 bedroom condo. Absolutely stunning rooms, you can open the door and walk to the ocean (too bad it was windy and we didn't). Staff were friendly for most part, no complaint there. We had the "all inclusive" package. But the word "all inclusive" is misleading. First, there is only one restaurant, so how many times can you eat the same food? We mostly ate lunch outside. And if you want to eat, you can't eat all you want, you can choose one appetizer, one main and one dessert and if you want to eat steak and salmon, you have to pay for the premium package which is $50 more a day. I think that's tacky and American travelers who are used to all-inclusive resorts will not find that pleasing. Checking is at 4pm, (which is pretty standard) and checkout is at 10am. I asked for extended checkout, they said they couldn't do it. They said they can give me 10 minutes max. We spent 6k for 5 nights, you think they would give you a few hours, especially since they weren't busy and it was middle of the week. I told the hotel staff that we have small kids and can't leave this early. But the front desk kept calling me saying that we will have to pay extra if we don't leave. I said its's fine, just stop hassling me. So, at the end, they did charge us $50 more. I didn't complain, i paid. But that's kind of low. You didn't let me extend for a few hours, you kept rushing me and you still charged me. The GM talked to me at the end and I told him what was going on, he said he understood and agreed. It was nice for him to reach out, but it would be nicer to give your guests an hour or two when they need it. And if you're going to charge them, then don't hassle them.

Be sure to read the hotel’s response to negative reviews. “While we understand that we may not be the right fit for every guest, we have hundreds of wonderful reviews and many guests that return year after year.” So if you want bed sheets that do not have multiple blood stains, this resort is not the right fit for you. If you don’t want your waiter to take the open coffee creamer from your table (without even asking), put it on another table, and return it after other guests used it, this resort is not the right fit for you. I waited 15 minutes for the waiter to bring me hit water because the coffee was too strong for my taste - by then the coffee was cold-and no apology. If you expect good service for the automatic gratuity charge, this resort is not the right fit for you. If you expect management to respond to these concerns when you bring them to their attention, this resort is not the right fit for you. I was told management had a meeting later on the day we checked out 3 Jan 24) and the manager would get back with me. It’s been 2 weeks and I still have not been contacted.

The staff was very friendly and helpful whether at the front desk or at the concierge desk. They made my stay even more enjoyable by offering me a nice little present for my birthday. The view from the unit was stunning, and the location, while a bit off the beaten path was very relaxing. The hotel is literally on the beach and the units are all facing the ocean. Something to keep in mind is that all Caribbean islands facing east are dealing with the same issue of algaes. I have seen the resort's staff going in every morning with the bobcat to remove them from the beach, but it's a constant flow throughout the day. Some days worse than others.
Across the street there is a convenient Fosters Express market, an over priced Italian restaurant, a liquor store and a car rental booth, which I highly recommend to discover the entire island. Driving on the left isn't that bad after all. Just reminder to keep left at all times and to look on the right first before engaging on the road! Do not miss 7 Miles Beach, Georgetown for shopping jewelries and souvenirs, and Rum Point to go snorkeling with the stingrays. They are actually very friendly and curious!

We stayed at Castaway Coves 219, privately owned, closely linked to the Wyndham Reef Resort and the experience was beyond our expectations . We enjoyed a beautifully appointed 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms with 2 extra Murphy beds for our large family. The condo was spacious, posh modern, lots of natural light and a fantastic view of the Caribbean Sea, beach, pool and sunrise from its massive glass doors and windows. We found this gem of a condo in VRBO listing number 3675583. It was very reasonably priced, updated and as guests, we participated in the many buffets, yoga, Magic Show with the Wyndham Reef Resort, enjoyed a couple of Ocean Frontiers excursions, Spa services and fun daily activities. We will definitely come back to this sweet spot.

Very clean and perfect villa to accommodate a family of 6 for 5 days. From the moment we arrived the entire staff was friendly, welcoming, and very professional. Our villa had one main door that opened into a foyer with one door going to a master suite with a balcony and the other door going into a side that had a full kitchen, a separate queen bedroom, two wall Murphy beds in the living area, and a balcony. It was perfect, our 4 teens had their bathroom and beds and we had ours. The second floor is nice yet you may want to request the lower level as it walks right out to the pool and beach. We had the European Plan (no meals) and it worked great for us. Be sure to get a rental car from Andy's Rental Car (they are good and considerably less than the ones off to the left and closest to the terminal. Andy's/Fox Rental is maybe 100 yards across the street from the terminal. Renting a car is the way to get around for sure. Each day the resort had a variety of things to do for all ages. The 3 divers in the family dove with Tortuga Dive Shop (100 yards from the resort) and enjoyed it. Morriot's Shopping Center is right across the street from the resort and has Foster's grocery store, a gift shop, and an excellent Italian restaurant, "Italian Kitchen" and is reasonable. We don't recommend snorkeling in front of the resort (it's rough and not lots to see). We chartered a boat with "Silver Thatch" from the North End at Kaibo Beach for 4 hours - the boating team was experienced and took us to a few places and Sting Ray Beach (which is a must). It would have been nice to know the resort's schedule of activities in advance as Thursday through Saturday had some things we'd like to have attended. They probably keep the same schedule all the time with a few minor changes/additions. Overall - it was a great place to relax and enjoy really good Pina Coladas and Daqaris. The Caves and Parrot Sanctuary was close by too. Hope this helps - safe travels to you and your family!

The unit was lovely. I was pleased they were able to fulfill my request for the main floor. Initially I was disappointed we were in the furthest unit but it turned out to be an excellent location. The unit was clean, well maintained by housekeeping every three days. The bed was comfortable, pillows ok - a bit lumpy, great shower and utensils well stocked in kitchen. They provide dish and dishwasher detergent, baby towels and plenty of garbage bags. We stopped at the grocery store Humphries on route and used store and liquor store across the way. Food at the buffets and restaurant on site were good and food plentiful. You will need a car for easy accessibility to the island. Driving was ok, being on left side was not too much of an issue until you became used to the rotaries. My only feedback is for the time share folks to lighten up. We were up front from beginning we were not interested. We sat through the presentation for a $150 restaurant credit and 7 night stay at a resort of their offering which we will not use as the destinations and units are of low quality. They were quite friendly until they realized we were not interested. Then we’re rude, brisk and dismissive. The blonde woman in charge was just awful. Other than this experience it was s perfect stay.

A good hotel, the room I stayed in was very large with a great bed and great pillows.
The bathroom is also very good and the shower is reasonable.
The hotel is very good with a great beach but far from the center and a round trip taxi costs around US$ 200.00
The only problem is that there is no breakfast included in the room rates and they force you to take a full board package
