To start, I've never done a Trip Advisor review before. My husband and I are pretty extensive travelers - so, shame on me as we rely on trip advisor like so many others of you. The reason I finally put fingers to pad is because Hacienda Puerto El Ceilo is a must stay Eco Hotel while you visit Nicaragua! The owner and host - JC is an extremely interesting, knowledgeable and just a great personality to hang out with.my husband and I nicknamed him "the most interesting man in the world :) ". He is full amazing stories and history of the country if you are interested to learn. He and his wonderful staff are like a family and they immediately welcome you to be a part of their family! The location of the hotel (and all of its casitas) over looks lake Mayssea, and you are…
Cannot recommend this place highly enough. It is unmatched in its beauty and peacefulness. JC and his staff are truly incredible and accommodating. Never have we had the luxury of being somewhere so remote and so well taken care of. Only regret is that we didn't stay longer.
My fiance and I stayed here for three nights a few days after New Year's. J.C. was a super attentive owner-host, and his local staff were amazing. The room was simple, comfortable and clean, and our casita's outdoor shower and private hammock were big bonuses. It was a bit of an adventure getting to the Hacienda, as we took a taxi there from the Managua airport, and the driver wasn't entirely familiar with the route, but we made it by using Google maps for most of the way, and then for the last few kilometers he relied on local directions, because Google's directions bring you off course on the final turn. But once we arrived we were greeted with a delicious welcome drink, friendly fellow guests who gave us the lay of the land, and really caring staff members who took pains to…
The staff, property and food are great. The hotel only sleeps about 14. Linda and JC, the owners, couldn't have been more accommodating to our needs. We had a nice room, our son a smaller nice room. JC had given up his own room for several days to accommodate one of our fellow guests. You can interact with other guests or stay to yourselves, your choice. Our experience over 5 days with 2 groups with diverse interests was awesome. We ( 2 middle aged adults, one mid-twenties son) enjoyed dining, touring and drinking with our fellow guests, who were primarily American, Canadian or South American during our stay. The hotel offers tours to all local attractions. The staff is young and friendly. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome, Carlos and Adriane in…
What a beautiful remote romantic little get away. A perfect retreat for rest and relaxation. A lovely complex of about 5 or 6 guest rooms mean this is a brilliant spot for getting away from it all. Staff are all wonderful and attentive. We had a delayed flight and only landed in Managua past midnight but they were smiling and ready to greet us and drive us to the resort. Apart from swimming, resting in hammocks and enjoying the delicious authentic food cooked on site; there are great trips to be had. We enjoyed visiting Grenada, going boating and feeding bananas to monkeys, the superb rainforest and going swimming in a local lake. JC has made something very special here. He even put together a party for us the night before we left. If you come here you will not be…
A great place with an amazing view, I was with some friends and my girlfriend few weeks ago to enjoy the pool which can be enjoyed during the afternoon preferably In my opinion is a great place with an excellent kitchen
Is a awesome pleace , a unique experience and excellent attention, excellent rooms and amazing scenery and a delicious food. This pleace is in Masatepe, Nacargua, I hope to come back soon and enjoy my vacation.
Looking at a map you would think this place in the town of Masatepe and in an urban area. Instead, it is very, very remote, providing remarkable views of not only the very, very active Volcan Masaya, but also the lake of the same name and the surrounding national park. The common areas are all open air and provide a very relaxed atmosphere in addition to those views. The service is excellent and attentive, though some patience is required as the staff are young and though they do a great job and are very professional, they are still working on their English. The food is very, very good and they did an excellent job of accounting for my wife's dietary requests. It's definitely worth the splurge to get the honeymoon suite with its direct access to the pool. Speaking of…
I found this resort in Travelzoo. Once booked, I contacted the hacienda about our reservation. Linda responded promptly and with great amount of detail on our itinerary. :) We arranged for the hacienda to pick us up from the airport. Adrian was our driver and is very friendly, efficient, and professional! :) When we arrived to the hacienda we were greeted friendly by Oscar and given a delicious welcome drink with rum. Then we were taken to Casa Linda, the honeymoon suite. The room is well appointed, rustic, and has a deck with pool entrance. It is NOT completely private, so close your curtains ! Lol. If there is people in the pool area, they can see you in your deck and room. But it has great access to everything else. We never had to turn on the A/C. We opened all the…
Our stay here was fantastic. The service was even more fantastic. The guys, Oscar and Adrian, were very nice, professional and helpful. I even had a flat tire and they both changed the tire for me. I highly recommend their Masaya Volcano tour. You really shouldn't be driving on your own at night outside of Managua. It is a bit of a drive to Masaya. You risk accidents and getting seriously lost. We were the only ones on the tour and it was very relaxing. We went to the Masaya market and it was nice to leave our purchases securely in the van with Adrian. He got us to the volcano, dinner and back to the hotel safely and very pleasantly. He was in no rush at all. if you drive there, you must have a 4 wheel drive!! The Road into the hacienda is a bit rugged but is a great entrance! …
