    Excellent stay, expensive food.
The resort is beautiful and quiet even during the new years holiday. It seemed like the resort was at 25% capacity, so the pools and restaurants were never packed and we never had to wait or make a reservation for dinner. There are five restaurant choices on the resort. Different restaurants are open on different days and the staff moves from one restaurant to the other. Two of the restaurants are outdoor settings and they were our favorites (Kon Kon, and the Brazilian restaurant near the main pool). The New Years Eve festivities were outstanding with a tremendous selection of food and the entertainment was top notch. Our room 1114 on the first floor was beautiful, large and modern. The furnishings and bed was excellent. Attention to detail was very good, with full maid service every day, resort robes, water and coffee refreshed daily. We purchased the all inclusive meal plan which cost $185 USD per person or $370 for the two of us per day which includes all the drinks you like all day long. Our cost was $2,600 for the week for the two of us. We estimate we could have saved up to $1,000 for the week if we would have eaten at local restaurants and taken a cab off the resort for all our meals. The all inclusive is very convenient but expensive. Our main complaint with the all inclusive was the wine options. The only wine included at no extra cost was the house white and red option. The house white and red are the cheapest, watered down and sweet wines you can imagine. They offer no options which is strange to me since you can order well drinks with your preferred brand, but not with the wines. The resort offers bottled wine options only if you ask for a wine menu. On New Years eve we decided to splurge and order a $90 bottle of wine from a nice selection offered. After about 15 minutes, the manager came by and apologized that they didn't have our selection and offered us two other choices. We assumed they were comparable in cost and he recommended one over the other. We were happy and enjoyed our bottle. It was a big surprise when they delivered the bill for the bottle and it was $180! We had to voice our displeasure with cost. After some back and forth with the waiter and the manager, the manager offered to reduce the cost to $140 and we accepted because it was an expensive bottle. We don't think any restaurant should offer a substitute bottle that costs twice as much as ordered without informing you first. We like the resort and would return again.
Dear Voyager711338, Thank you for your visit, we appreciate your detailed review of our resort. Our team is dedicated to providing a relaxing stay with dedicated service to each of our guest, this is the reason for the tranquil atmosphere in our resort. We truly apologize for the inconvenience with the wine and we are investigating this matter so that it may not happen again. We look forward to your return stay with us and having another opportunity to righting that inconvenience. Cordially, Amanda Guevara (aguevara@ancorapuntacana.com) Guest Experience Manager

    Birthday Vacation
Staff at the resort were very helpful, check in a little slow, mix up on rooms. Room wasn't ready either, however they offered lunch which was nice. Food choices form different restaurants very good no complaints except that if your not early for breakfast it can be cold. All inclusive a little expensive for what you get, Beach option all inclusive only beer frozen drinks and water offered, no cocktail as in pool area of resort. JC was fun with entertainment. Amenties not consistent when toping up your room, towels etc not always complete but if you called housekeeping they would bring everything. Time share location but no hassle at all we said no thanks and they left us alone.
Dear Primroseksa, Thank you for your visit and your comments. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay with us and we have taken note of your suggestions. Thanks you very much for your comments and we await your return. Cordially, Amanda Guevara (aguevara@ancorapuntacana.com) Guest Experience Manager

I went with a monster booking, and took my sister- in- law to see her family and enoy the resort. We were greeted with a nice drink (they had nice refreshing self-serve tropical drinks at the main bar / activity room for a couple hours every night) but check in took hours' We got there at 3:00p (in February's North East coast clothes) and did not get a room until after 9:00p. The woman manager on duty told us she would send a bottle of champange and fruit (she actually looked at me funny when I accepted) to our room and they gave us a room upgrade. The upgraded room was beautiful, but the champange and fruit never arrived. I slept on the floor as the cot was aslo a no show. Several days later an owner had heard about us and heard us complaining and hooked us up with a bottle of champange and a bottle of vodka. He was very war and welcoming. The resort was empty, even thought the SI swimsuit photography was in progress. The shuttle to the beach was interetsing and the food at the beach was good. The chef at the all inclusive cafeteria made e a special casadia (sic), which was very good. The other restraunts were pay. I was told not to bring cash and I did not. YOU NEED CASH! One day the ATM was empty. The Concierge who arrange all activities and the "sales talk" was very cute, but extremly vindictive. After our long wait to check in, the meeting was the following morning I asked her to write the instructions down, she did not and we were late. Apparently, this is cause for yelling. She messed up all plans onward. There is a very cool park on Punta Cana but the first evening Ms. Thiing tells us is its ust Zip-line. Severak days later I found out the park had caves, trails, butterflies, all kinds of things (it wasnt just zip-line) the park was closed. My Sister In-Law went to visit her family, so I scheduled a horse back ride, again shes yelling as it was only 1 person instead if two. The horse ride did not go on the beach as the picture had it, but through the city strreets, it was pretty cool and I got to see some of how the people lived. I had ordered a spa, which was an in room massage; no one showed up! I made three phone calls for a golf cart to take my bags to the front desk to catch the airport shuttle, I ended up walking as I was going to be late. I gave them the benefit of doubt thinking they were getting other people. No, four golf carts outside the office. We stayed at the sales pitch forever (morning after arrival), probably four hours. The first level was very nice and pleasent; the next level, a beast, who sent us running. My guest had to go to the talk and be pressured as well. They never gave the $50 (?) bonus (I guess that was the room upgrade). There is a hat store on the resort that is amazing, expensive, but hand woven and beutifully designed hats. The independend business oowners were all very friendly. The place had a small troupe of street performers that did little dance's every night. This is propably the worst resort Ive been to, and was ade far worse by the concierge, but it was nice to be in the sun in Feb.

Dear Camlelife, We appreciate your visit and the time taken to leave your comments. However, please consider that your stay was in February, 8 months ago, and in the middle of our renovations as Sports Illustrated. Meaning, much has changed, and we really have no way in commenting on any bad experiences of that time as it was so long ago, We invite you to visit us again and experience the true Sports Illustrated Resorts Experience. I will get straight to the point with no fluff. I spent a 5 days/4 night stay through my travel company ( with a mandated 90min presentation). I went during the second week of September 2023 with my wife, who is 5 months pregnant at this time. 1) Food: This is actually a gated community where some of the villas are privately owned and others belong to the resort. They advertise 5 restaurants on site, but it does not belong to the resort, it belongs to the community - which is not included. What is included is a buffet style dining hall for breakfast, lunch, and dinner + pool side bar + pool side grill (ex. hot dog, hamburger). About 50% of the menu repeated every day of the same salads, meats/cheeses, etc. No room service. Food quality 3/10 . 2) Room: We received our room which was actually decent which included a full suite overseeing the marina but BROKEN AC with Caribbean humidity. We contacted front desk and they sent someone 3 times, unable to fix it. Not to mention this room was located on the 4th floor with BROKEN EVELATOR and my wife is pregnant. We asked for room switch which they said they had no other rooms given that the resort was EMPTY and we saw the same 30 people over our stay. They finally gave us a small one bedroom on the first floor. This place was OLD and falling apart. But worst part was the shower enclosure was leaking on two side which caused a HUGE flood everytime we showered in our room. We end up placing 4-5 towels down but had working AC. At this point we were frustrated given the amount of times we contacted front desk with our broken AC, water leaking in our bathroom, and begging for housekeeping to bring us new towels. Additionally, there was ZERO "experiences" on site in which they advertised on their website. Room quality: 2/10 . 3) Hospitality: the staff was friendly, inviting, and kind. Cant say anything bad about them. The resort was 1/10 but the staff was 9/10. They tried. Despite housekeeping not showing up. Staff Hospitality: 9/10 4) Experiences: ZERO on site, everything is offsite and have to pay a ton. (though I was not planning to participate given my wife's pregnancy). Experiences: cannot comment. 5) Amenities: The lobby consisted of a bar, one shuffle board, and one pool table. Otherwise there is TWO pools. One only has a bar and grill. Other is the "relaxation pool" with no bar or grill. That is it. Amenities: 2/10 . The marketing for this place was AMAZING. It got it. It got me good. But far from the pictures. Please becareful of coming here. Yes construction is going on, but what they have is NOTHING.

This was my sixth time in the Dominican Republic, but my first time staying at Sports Illustrated Resorts Marina & Villas Cap Cana from 9/24/23 to 9/29/23. This resort was booked through Monster Reservation Group and was the only resort in the DR that was available for booking through Monster. I had to attend a timeshare presentation also. It seemed as though everyone who stayed at this resort had to attend the timeshare presentation. Otherwise, it wouldn’t have been a resort that I would have chosen for myself. I’m more of a Hyatt Inclusive Secrets Resort Brand kind of vacationer. In any event, I had a relaxing time on this resort. The best part of my stay were the workers on the resort and the service they provided. From the front desk receptions workers, to the waiters, waitresses, hostesses, bartenders, chef, and entertainment crew, they made my stay most enjoyable. Ismael was extremely helpful at the front desk reception. He made sure that I got to and from a nearby store using a taxi driver that he’s familiar with. He also made sure that I had everything I needed. Wilner was one of the bus boys who drove the golf cart dropping off guests to and from our rooms with our luggage. He was extremely friendly and he carried my luggage up 3 flights to my room which I appreciated. Jose, who was new to job only having been there for 2 days, assisted me on my last day by carrying my luggage down the stairs to the golf cart and driving me back to the lobby. Martin was also super friendly and kind. Each waiter or waitress that served me were extremely kind. I wish I would have obtained each of their names to give them all a shoutout for their great service. For example, Sandy, Rafael, and Mayra to name a few provided great service. Elisa was one of the hostess who was very friendly. She and I spoke all the time each day. Alfredo was one of the bartenders who was quite nice as well. William, the executive chef prepared a delicious meal of lobster, shrimp, mashed potatoes and vegetable for me which I appreciated greatly. They gave me a reserved table with a simple yet nice flower arrangement. Everything I ate tasted good, I had no complaints about the food. Despite the fact that there were only a limited number of restaurants to eat from such as the dugout buffet in the lobby, the snack bar at the pool and Bambino the Italian Restaurant, I enjoy each of my meals. There was a different theme in the buffet each night between from Caribbean, Mexican, and Italian Other workers I’d like to shout out are Duracell, Sopita, and Daniella. The rooms I had were quite nice, so no complaints there. I spent the first night in a 1 bedroom apartment and the remainder of my time in a 2 bedroom apartment that overlooked the marina. My friend, her husband and daughter spent the first two nights on the resort with me which is why we were upgraded to the 2 bedroom. When they left, I spent the remainder of my trip solo in the 2bdrm . While I had an overall decent experience, I wouldn’t stay at this resort again. 1. Because I like to try different resorts each time I visit the DR. 2. Because there’s still lots of constructions taking place. I’d be interested to see what it becomes after the construction is done. Pros - [ ] The workers made my stay a great one - [ ] Despite their being a few restaurant options, I enjoyed each meal that I had Cons - [ ] No umbrellas at the pool - [ ] Limited number of eateries - [ ] The resort felt deserted - [ ] The beach is not walking distance

This was my first visit to Punta Cana. The staff at Sports Illustrated provided excellent service. They were friendly and helpful. In particular Saudi Sanchez, Arelis Hilario, Mirquelis, Maria, Tony Capitan. All went out of their way to make sure we had all we needed. Sopita was friendly and entertaining. Duracel, DJ Wilson and Alfredo were great. They all kept the vibe going at night.

My wife and I went to this play for Memorial Day 2023. Do not stay here until they finish the renovations. The rooms and hallways have mold in them. The room that we stayed in was poorly renovated. We extremely disappointed in the accommodations. The staff was very friendly and helpful but this place needs to be closed until Sports Illustrated completes its renovations.

Our first time in Dominican Republic and it was amazing. The sports illustrated resort had everything we were looking for. The staff was friendly and helpful.
