We stayed here on our first night in Namibia and it was a great place to start our adventure! We made so welcome by the couple who manage the place and the room we had was superb. It was a detached bungalow a little way out in the desert with the most superb views of the mountains and the valley in front. The large patio windows meant that we woke up to the view from our bed in the morning. The outside bathroom facilities were a great experience and they were built into the landscape beautifully. We had dinner at the main house which was superb and it was nice to meet the managing couple who joined us for the main meal. This is a lovely place which is being upgraded right now so I am sure it will be even better soon. They even have a pet meerkat there as well, and very cute it is as well!! I would highly recommend a stay here, we used it as a sop off between Windhoek and The Namib Naukluft mountains and Sossusvlei.

Arriving at Barchan fairly late in the afternoon we were tired. We were met by a friendly Manager that quickly sorted out our bungalow. We were escorted to the bungalow about 1 km away from the farm. Approaching the set up it looked like a lock up garage, actually very disappointed in wht we were seeing.. Once the doors were opened a luxury open view deluxe room welcomed us. Stunning , great location, open air bathroom and toilet. Wow, Wow , wow . The best in the west.

I cannot say enough great things about Barchan Dunes. My husband, son and I were there for only one night and we wished we had stayed longer. The place was gorgeous. Our son stayed in the main house and my husband and I were in one of the "barchan dunes" chalets - built into the land. The place was clean, bed comfortable, chalet was spacious. It was lovely. The drive up to the place is wild and full of animals. It was the first part of our trip so we were anxious to see any and all animals. Upon arrival, we were offered a welcome drink which was perfect. We watched as the sunset colors lit up the valley and mountains surrounding us. The colors were amazing. The place is intentionally small so intimate and personal. We had dinner together with the other guests - there were only 11 of us. The meal was fantastic and the company was fun too. The managers of the property (Niekie & Gerda) were both welcoming, warm and great cooks! When Niekie heard my son's excitement over seeing the zebras who nightly drink from the nearby watering holes, he immediately offered to take him to see if we could find them. My husband and I went along and that was one of the best decisions we made on our whole trip. We didn't see the zebras but we saw something better - the clear African sky. We had never seen a more beautiful sky - ever. And we have traveled a lot. We felt so at home and welcome at Barchan Dunes that we really did not want to leave. If we could have changed anything, it would have been to stay another 1-2 nights. We also realized relative to what we paid at other hotels was not worth it after experiencing Barchan Dunes! When we return to Namibia, we will definitely return to Barchan Dunes.

Hi we have been in this resort for our 2 fist nights in Namibia. We felt really at home and welcomed by the farmer family as close friends. Food excellent both dinner and breakfast. Rooms are wide and well separated one from the other. One of our group was in the most secluded room 800m from the reception . A very magical place only issue the open air shower and wc that now being winter with 8 degrees celsius is for very brave people! We also saw a meercat living close to the reception lodge! We will reccomend it to anybody visiting Namibia.

My husband & I had the privilege of staying at KuanguKuangu for 4 nights, & having our meals at Barchan Dune Retreat, just a 10 minute walk away. The wonderful mangers of Barchan Dune (Niekie & Gerda) took great care of us, with their thoughtfulness & professionalism to every detail of our stay. Our meals were delicious & homemade by Gerda & her hard working staff... Niekie took us for a sunset drive one evening to see the wildlife on the farm. If hiking in beautiful mountains by day & unparalleled stargazing at night appeal to you, then Kuangukuangu & Barchan Dune are a must for an amazing Namibian experience.
