We stayed here for two nights as part of our mini-moon trip through France. Château de la Resle was the perfect place to relax, unwind and take in the beautiful surroundings as well as the stunning design elements of the Château. We stayed in the Chablis room in the main part of the Château which was beautiful and with all...

Chateau de la Resle is the epitome of style, a true work of art & labour of love. Johan and Pieter are so friendly and warm, with great sense of humour and great taste in all things, you really feel at home with that hotel finish. We celebrated our rehearsal dinner in their beautiful restaurant. Johan is a self taught...

Dear Kris and Jimi. Thank you so much for taking the trouble of writing such a detailed review and thank you even more for the big compliments and warm words. Of course it is tempting to react to a more negative feedback, but I prefer to respond to you and say how rewarding and motivating your review is. We do...

Johan & Pieter are incredibly kind hosts, the castle with its park, pool, spa etc. is impressing and the interiors full of art and design objects make the stay a very special experience. So, on the whole: 90 out of 100 points - chapeau & thanks again for your hospitality! Why not 100 points? Because somehow the mixture of "public"...

The great thing about getting online feedback from our guests is that we learn from it every time and it allows us to explain Château de la Resle to potential guests in a different way. We are indeed NOT a hotel and will never aim to be one. Château de la Resle is a private guest house in a classic...

My husband and I stayed here in Oct, 2015 for 2 nights and loved it. It is an absolutely gorgeous place and meticulously put together. They did an amazing job decorating with a modern decor that contrasted well with the old details of the chateau. It is just a beautiful property and we loved staying there. There are very few...

Thank you, Pieter and Johan, for a wonderful stay! My husband and I just loved the property and you really made us feel at home. Chateau de la Resle is beautifully designed and incredibly relaxing. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the breakfast is delicious. We appreciated your recommendations, especially wine tasting at Brocard and dinner at Le Jardin...

This delightfully restored Chateau sits on its own in the countryside, not far from Auxerre and Chablis. There are only four rooms available for rent in the main building and a couple in the Ferme opposite. All other comments that I have read about this chateau are absolutely correct. The artwork is inspired and the collections for sale are very...

This was our second visit to the stunningly beautiful Chateau de la Resle. We have been looking forward to our return trip for sometime and as usual, it never disappoints. The chateau is nestled amongst rolling hills, fields and forest. The peace and tranquillity of the chateau and its surroundings is just perfect for a few days to get away...

Our stay at the Chateau de la Resle was an incredible end to our fabulous French Holiday. In a beautiful destination, the Chateau has been beautifully restored by our stylish, welcoming hosts. Step back in history and live like a marquis for a while. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Crowning a hill in the renowned winemaking region of Burgundy, Château de la Resle has the charm and personality of a well-loved private home. The six elegant rooms and suites are taken care of by Dutchmen Johan Bouman and Pieter Franssens, who invite guests to share the French, ivy-wrapped manor house they painstakingly restored. Adding to the feeling of romance and exclusivity is Johan and Pieter’s personal collection of contemporary art and design, which attracts fellow connoisseurs from around the world. From the château, which sits on the edge of an 800-hectare hunting forest, there are bucolic views down the valley of Montigny la Resle. The wine village of Chablis – that gives its name to one of the most famous white wines in France – is also just a short drive away. Exploring the area is a delight, but guests are equally happy to unwind at the château’s spa, soak in the azure pool, or relax by a sizzling open fire with a glass of the château’s own Chablis. ... more   less

“If you like to go to bed early, you should ask for a room on the backside of the house. The front side is lit up brightly until the last guest returns, and the light seeps in through all your windows through even the window shades and curtains. If you are a late riser, you probably actually want the front of the house because the back of the house is nearer to where Johan and Peter live, and you may hear them running around in the morning.”
