Elephant Hills combines the African Safari tent camp idea with the breathtakingly beautiful environment of Khao Sok in Southern Thailand. Furthermore, the resort offers 2-4 days soft adventure tours, including kayaking, lake explorations, mangrove expeditions, jungle treks and the unique Elephant Hills elephant experience. Here you get to wash, feed and interact with Asia's largest land animal in a sustainable and fun way. Elephant Hills does not offer Elephant riding out of respect towards the elephants.

Step 3 of our Thailand tour was staying with the Elephant Hills resort for 3 days and 2 nights. And it was quite simply the highlight of the trip. Day 1 was meeting elephants, preparing food for them and then feeding them, and then washing them off. Children from the local school performed traditional dances that evening, before we moved to our Glamping Tents. The whole operation was impressively set up, within the constraints they face. Day 2 was travelling to the Khao Sok national park – including a fun boat trip! – to a floating hotel. We had the chance to swim in the lake, where there are lots of large carp that enjoy watermelon, as well as smaller puffer fish that can nip if you don’t move around much. We had a short trek through the rainforest to a local cave – complete with spiders and bats! – before heading back to the floating hotel. Day 3 was some kayaking, before relaxing and then heading to the next resort. The food was simple-ish fare but tasty and plenty of it: but the efforts that they went to for my daughter (a pescatarian) were simply outstanding! We were very jealous of what she got to eat. I also need to praise our guide, Bamboo, who was simply amazing throughout our stay. I think she’d probably the best guide I’ve ever been lucky enough to be led by – authoritative, funny, clear & helpful. To be honest, this made our whole holiday. I cannot recommend it enough.

Without a doubt the best three days of our entire two week trip. Firstly you arrive at the elephant camp, greeted by friendly and helpful hosts who show you to lovely, spacious tents with their own bathroom, porch and hammock. Theres also a big communal area where food is served or you can relax as a group around tables a chairs (only suggestion here is there are some cushions on the chairs?). Everything was very elephant themed with the chairs being carved into elephant shapes - adorable! The food selection is really good with mild to spicy stuff and some western options. They were also really good if you had an allergy or dietary requirement. There was also a pool, not huge but a good size for a dip and cool down. The beds were big enough for three people and each room had a fan. Also electricity was available. The elephants themselves are soooooo beautiful!! They're not mistreated in anyway, if they didnt want to come over for food or a wash, they weren't made to. Their area was a good size with areas for shade and a pool! We cut up food for them and they came over when they felt ready (which once they worked out it was lunch time was quickly, greedy monkeys!). Then some of them got in the pool and we all were able to just watch them, bathing, take pictures and generally just marvel at these gorgeous animals. The guides were really skilled and knowledgeable about the elephants. All the elephants at elephant hills were 50 to 70 years old and had been mistreated in the logging industry or homeless on the street most their lives and now they were retired and allowed to do what they wanted. They were also all female. We even watched a video on the creation of elephant hills and why it was needed. We spent a good few hours here before heading back to have dinner, there were activities on offer but not compulsory to take part in. The scenery around is also beautiful, so green and luscious. We had a down pour of rain at one point and it was amazing to see! The forest around is also really noisy, full of wildlife noises!! Up next we went onto the jungle camp, here we took a small overnight bag with just what we needed. We took a boat bus to the camp which was an hours journey, passing enormous stacked islands coming out of the water. Then we were all shown to our rooms which were similar in size to the elephant camp rooms. But the view.......oh wow. Just an amazing view over the lake, listening to the sounds of the jungle and the water lapping at the side of the float. Oh yeah the rooms are floating on the water...secured of course. The food again was lovely, nice choices. We swam in the lake and kayaked. There was the option of going on a hike through the jungle, which we opted out of due to lack of decent footwear and that it was boiling hot. We could have stayed for a lot longer. Highly recommend this place!!

What can I say about this trip it’s fantastic. We stayed her in August with our kids having booked direct from the UK. Booking process was clear and concise and without any issues they could not have been more helpful. Transferred from hotel went smoothly and upon arrival at Elephant Hills our fantastic guide “Kong” arranged for a new 2 storey villa as our kids are extremely tall for there ages, this was all above and beyond. We had the 3 day safari and whilst the kids obviously loved the elephant encounter, feeding washing etc the additional canoe trips rain forest hiking and trip to the lake safari lodges were they could swim and relax were excellent. Food was superb a mix of Thai food for adults and children but also a small range of food for the kids , entertain, ent was informative and educational about the conservation been done in the region. I can not recommend this location enough Many thanks for a fantastic stay

We didn’t realize the beauty of Thailand’s jungle and mountains until we visited the geologic-time “coral reefs” of Elephant Hills & Khao Sok National Park! ... GLAMPING in the rainy season and in a floating tent is magical, when you are at one with nature. The entire Staff at both camp sites were on-point, and you could tell they were taught good hospitality etiquette (besides being beautiful people themselves), which goes a long way when you are in the middle of a forest! ... on our first night, one of the tent lamps had a minor issue, and the Engineering Manager himself personally returned to work to investigate and resolve the matter. This is a private facility (not government controlled), so the tours & travel guides have some leeway in terms of what can be done ~ and it’s all fantastic! We arranged this tour through a US/UK travel agency, and would recommend you contact Elephant Hills directly and ask them for rates, etc (instead of using a “middle man” like we did).
