Well we went to this resort from a recommendation from a tour operator who advised us to book online ..... we were a family of 4 adults and 3 children we booked requesting 2 rooms but somehow the hotel misrepresents itself on their booking system by allowing you to assume you are booking 2 rooms instead of 1 by showing images of 2 different room types allowing you to imagine you have 2 rooms which when booking for 7 people one would think would be the appropriate accommodation choice but on arrival we were stuck in a tiny room with 2 beds ? No electric until 5pm the toilets were so dark you couldn’t see a thing ..... no internet at all unbelievable as this 1 night cost over 8000 we were also told parking was free but found that we were being charged aswell ...... lots of misinformation these guys should do better !!! My advice try another outfit this place isn’t worth the money !!

We booked a 2 day/1 night jungle tour through to Khao Sok National Park and stayed one night at the Panvaree Resort with our 2 girls aged 6 and 8. The resort consists of a few raft houses connected via a boardwalk and one main area/restaurant/bar at the far end. Location is quiet and peaceful and about a 30 mins boat drive from the main pier. As we arrived late we had the first raft house closes to the main areas so not so much privacy, but then lights pretty much go out around 10pm and we had a 6am start the next morning so it didnt bother us. The raft house has a double bed and then a spacious 'upper deck' connected by stairs which sleeps 4 easily. Air conditioning and electricity is on from 6pm. Food was included in our package and served at certain times (no a la carte) and was of decent quality. I personally didnt think the raft house was worth the money we paid (about GBP 300 incl. meals) but overall the whole experience was fantastic.

The complex is quite small with a number of floating huts on the water, and appears to be shared between a mother and daughter. We were told during our stay that we were on the daughter’s side of the complex. What we did not realise is how loud it is, all of the time, with the water moving, the noise of the huts squeaking all day and night, pipes swaying back and forth, and the long tail boats arriving and leaving constantly. We had not specifically come here to relax though as we had a number of excursions set up as part of an organised trip, so it was not a big deal for us and I also had earplugs for the evenings. We stayed in a Deluxe Villa which also had 2 single beds up a small, rather steep ladder, so could accommodate 4. The standard of the room was quite poor and could definitely benefit from a refurbishment. The bathroom is located outside the bedroom and was also of a relatively poor standard, not particularly clean. There was an ongoing stream of water on the floor and we put it down to, and accepted, that in such a location, perhaps this is as good as it gets. We later discovered though that there is accommodation of a much better standard in the park, and cheaper. If we go again we would definitely book a different hotel. What we also did not know in advance is that the chef cooks large quantities of the same food and this is what is given to all the guests – you have no menu to choose from, and everyone eats the same food. It is also all cooked at a certain time and if you happen to come later for lunch or dinner you will most definitely have a cold meal, which happened to us most of the time as the meal times never seemed to coincide with our excursion trips. We were also given the same meal in 2 consecutive days. Breakfast was awful – a loaf of shop-bought white sliced bread (covered in flies as there was nothing to protect it), orange juice which tasted everything but orange juice, slices of warm cooked ham, small sausages and overcooked eggs. Needless to say, we skipped this delightful offer and made do with a packet of coffee and creamer – there is no fresh coffee. I never actually once felt that I was the guest at this hotel; it always felt that I was intruding and should just be happy with what was given to us. Given the fact we paid €400+ a day (this did include the excursions but still...) this was appalling value. Once back home I looked at reviews of the hotel and if I had known this is what our travel agent had booked for us, I would never have accepted it.

This visit to Chiew Lan Dam, I had the opportunity to stay at Pae Panwari Resort, which is a raft that is considered a good location. The back of the raft is a towering limestone cliff. And in the foreground is the water that is surrounded by limestone mountains far away The overall atmosphere is considered good. There are many packages to choose from.
