Had a fabulous day out from Khao Lak to the Khao Sok National Park and Lake. Included a transfer from our hotel to the Park, a long tail boat trip across the lake to 500Rai, taking in the stunning scenery. At 500Rai we had use of the facilities (floating swimming pool and kayaks etc) and a fabulous buffet lunch. This was then followed by a trip to the coral cave. We got extremely lucky to be allocated our local tour guide "Ice Cream". She was such a lovely girl, extremely knowledgeable about the area and the wildlife and really made the trip something special, really would recommend putting in a request for her to be your guide.

We stayed one night from the 12th of May to 13th of May. We booked directly via their homepage. The price was 18.000 BAHT for 2 people including transfer, breakfast and dinner and two tours. Price Performance ratio is questionable. Breakfast and Dinner was pretty bad. The evening wildlife watching tour was very nice, but the one in the morning was just ok, because we were just waiting for people to take there instagram-pictures and didn't really pursue the wildlife watching. Please note, that bathrooms are of course simple at this resort. On the drive back to the shore we stopped at the famous "Hin Sam Glue" which was a very nice surprise. Absolutely worth the stopp. The service at 500 Rai was good. We appreciate the experience, but we would choose another floating resort should we ever come back.

Had a chance to stay in “500 rai” for 2 nights. 2 families with kids. Stayed in family suites. It was our 3rd time on a lake. 1) Hurt my leg, got huge hematomas on my thigh. The floating platforms on the balconies tend to submerge. At the same time they are super slippery, because of greens on it. Be super careful when you step on it, it’ll submerge and then you may slip and hurt your legs. If you do so, don’t expect a compensation from hotel. Also, please pay attention at kayaks: 2 out of 4 of our kayaks had water inside which results in very risky submerging after you get in. 2) Don’t expect any good service in this place. Unfriendly stuff, weak English, no room cleaning. 3) Prepare to eat pretty simple thai food. They have breakfast, dinner and launch included: few simple dishes. Food level is lower than in any simple restaurant ashore. Coffee machine on the breakfast serves only instant coffee. Fruits choice was no more than 2 types of fruits at a time. 4) Lake is a good place to stay away from the Internet and relax. However, if you need to be online, get ready to pay 1500 baht per day for the wifi. Comparing to the other lake hotels where we stayed before (they cost ~2 times less) the food, service, activities here are worse. Things which were better in “500 rai”: the view, good A/C in the rooms. All-in-all the high price-tag doesn’t mean a nice experience, probably because there are not many hotels on the lake, so they can charge whatever they want. I’d not recommend staying here.

Amazing and quiet location in the middle of nature. Perfect for a relaxing get away. The room has everything you need. The staff (Service and guides) is very friendly and always ready to help. Great food and rather large menu for such a remote resort. Finding information on how to get to the resort can be a bit of challenge, but it is all worth it!

We spent only one night at the resort with the special promotion rate included full board meals for one night and another night with breakfast only. Initially we supposed to stay two nights, but after looking at the food and beverage price list, we feel shocked and decided to ask for second night to be shorten to be one night and upgrade to Honeymoon suite with additional surcharge 5,000 THB. Room is just decent and to be honest, it is way too expensive to priced point at THB 18,000 or USD 600 per night as per their feature in the website. This room rate is similar ranked with Four Seasons, Banyan Tree or Ritz Carlton. So I am sure that people who travel a lot and always stay at the real luxury brand hotels and resorts have the same expectation on the luxury room with professional services at this resort too. But it is not what you think! the only plus points for this resort is the en-suite bathroom and air conditioned system in your bedroom. While the other amenities is not provided such as there is no minibar, no hair dryer, no body lotion, and only shampoo and body wash. If you wish to use the hair dryer, you have to contact front desk and borrow it from front desk. Food and beverage is started from THB 390++ for a dish like Somtam or papaya salad, THB 790++ for green curry, this is unbelievable and insane. We feel really unfair with the way they are offering this to customers especially there is no any other options to eat at the resort. Therefore if you are buying a room rate with breakfast only, pls be prepared for this, your pocket may be broke. I repeated again, it is about 10 times more expensive from what you can buy in the mainland and many dishes are much more expensive than 5 star hotels restaurant. Lunch and dinner that are included in the full board package are just very simple basic dishes like deep fried chicken, fish soup, stir fried vegetables and rice. The meals are just so simple and we expected to be more special if they are charging an expensive package with meals. They should consider adding some seafood or beef if they are positioning a resort as luxury experiences. The plus point is you can refill your dishes until you full and fresh fruit and water are included. Breakfast is basic with bread, coffee corner, cereal corner with local food and rice soup. We asked for fresh fruits and unfortunately it is not available. Again we feel disappointed that fresh fruits can not be provided because we think it is normal for good quality breakfast. No eggs station or egg dishes like fried eggs, sausages or bacons, forget about these things, but I repeated again room rate are being featured at USD 600 per night. We like the automatic coffee machine which you can enjoy as many cups as you want. No internet and you need to buy if you want to use. 1 hour for 350 THB. I recommended to include in the room rate if you are positioning your resort as the luxury resort so that it can be a good benefit for guests. Staff has WiFi to use all the time but guests has to pay. Staff are friendly and attentive to service you. Views are amazing and truly beautiful. Activities are chargeable. Only kayak and public swimming pool are free of charge. In summary, if you are planning to visit Chiewlan dam and want to stay at the rafting house, I recommend you to stay at other place with the more reasonable package and you can find a decent rafting house with only USD 30-50 per one guest with full board. If you are really rich and money is not a matter, then this place is probably serve you a basic facility where you need for your comfy at the super expensive room rate like Four Seasons room rate. Think twice and think smart.

Beautiful resort it matches the photos on the website, but paying 42,000 baht for a 2-night room full board, drinks not included, we expected perfect service and this is not the case. Positive points : - nice place - beautiful resort - room ok - friendly staff Negative points : - Food (very basic, not tasty) - the extra food or drink to expensive - excessive price for the proposed activities (1500bhat/pers) that price not guarantee to you to have a privatised boat, it can have minimum 2pers to 14pers - after the first night the room is not cleaned and the bed is not making. - when it rain you not have the guarantee to have a boat with plastic roof to back to go and back to the pier. It’s what happened with us, for go to the resort It rained and we was lucky to have a boat with roof in plastic that protect us. For back we got a boat without roof, we ask to the resort staff to let us umbrellas to help to protect us they doesn’t accept it, then we told them that it was not acceptable to back to the pier same like that, they answer to us « this is Thailand » it’s 16 years that we live in Thailand and we can say that when you go to resort with good management it’s not same like that...when we pretend to be the excellent resort the service must to be perfect from the start to the end, the rain was more important compare when we go there. As with raining coat, we arrive to the pier completely soaked - the iron bars which hold the bungalow to the pontoon should be oiled car as soon as the bungalow moves there is a loud noise we were unable to sleep during these 2 nights. MY CONCLUSION : Too bad and sad that this Resort is based only on the beauty of the place and the location. they feel that this is enough. For the taken practiced nowadays this is not enough. I had come to see if I could come back with a bigger group of friends, but seeing the + and the - won't happen there. To think only of profit (money) without rendering an impeccable service in return, for me that’s not work

People at the property were always nice and helpful. The restaurant is not small, but the menu has just few options. The cabins are good for 2 people max, even if it´s a family cabin. The room upstairs looks like you are in a boat.

i have to differentiate my stars for 500 rai floating resort. I give 5 stars for location. 3 stars for the room and the place as a whole. 0-1 star for the food. It is the worst food I have been given in Thailand. Without taste and not least cold. really bad. That place is woefully oversold and overpriced. I recommend a day trip out into the national park and get the whole experience.

Everything went perfectly! Especially, your general manager (forgot to ask his name but he's not Thai people). He serves us with 6 scoops of ice-cream after dinner. Stunning location with beautiful lake view. Enjoy sport activity a lot. Maybe it's high price but high quality also. Thank you.
