Stayed here for 3 nights as part of our 10 year wedding anniversary trip to Thailand. The location and setting is beautiful and it’s truly a Jungle experience with Monkeys swinging from the trees and the sounds of the Jungle at night, although the Village of Kao Sok, which is full of backpacker hostels and restaurants, is only a 15 minute walk away so it isn’t really that remote! However both the accommodation and quality of the food served in the restaurant were disappointing. We booked a double storey tree house which from the website and Instagram posts looked as though it had a wide terrace with open views. In reality we had a river view with trees infront so it was really dark and the monkeys dominated our terrace and we therefore couldn’t use it. As other reviewers have stated, the accommodation is made in the traditional way so it’s exposed to the elements in places - nothing big can get in but insects can and do get in! We also had a major ant problem in our bathroom which wasn’t very pleasant especially as they were climbing up the toilet! As it rained every day the treehouse smelt damp and all our clothes felt damp too. Surprisingly the mosquito nets worked well but in general it was all far too rustic and basic for us, and most importantly nothing like the Instagram posts the Jungle Camp posts where they’ve invited ‘Influencers’ to stay in what is clearly the best treehouse and only one with wide open space infront of it! The restaurant food was pretty awful and it closed at 8.30pm which didn’t give you much time to relax after a full day out. You were also asked to order breakfast the night before which we found irritating. Staff were friendly but wouldn’t deviate from the closing time for anyone and I didn’t really feel that they would go out of their way for guests. The bar was nice and stayed open later. It’s worth noting that there are no staff are on site after 9pm which we thought was a bit reckless incase there was an emergency. We went on the full day trip to Cheow San Lake which was amazing and also with a guide for a half day trek to a waterfall in the national park which is just round the corner from the camp. To be honest you don’t really need a guide for the trek as it’s an easy to follow marked path but we enjoyed our guide’s company and it helps to support the local community. Overall it’s probably the best place to stay in an area full of cheap hostels but just be aware that the accommodation is still basic and you need to feel happy sharing your room with insects!…
We stayed at Our Jungle Camp for 3 nights in November. We’re a family with 3 kids (13 to 3 years old). We wanted to have a jungle experience, but make sure to have a private room and shower, with enough space, clean and pleasant - Our Jungle Camp met our expectations. Take into consideration the sounds and face to face meetings with the jungle's animals: all kind of flies, lizards, frogs, monkeys... We got used to it quite quickly. There is a great restaurant on the premises, where we could get tasty dishes for breakfast and dinner. We enjoyed the activities the place offered: one full day trip to Chaow Lan lake, Bamboo raphsody on the river, and tubing.
I really enjoyed the stay, first of all, because of the helpful and caring staff. Secondly, the place has a great variety of things to offer. It is really interesting to even simply stroll around the territory, the amount of various animals and insects to see is enormous. This is also a downside, because everything that crawls ends up in your house, which has open walls and no barriers for various life whatsoever. Of course, nothing big can go through, but lizards and insects are guaranteed. To my surprise though mosquitos were not that big of a problem: the team sells really good repellents at the reception desk and you also have some stuff against mosquitoes in the room. The excursions were all nicely organised and I greatly enjoyed them. I went to the night safari in the jungles (the guide was very good at spotting the animals, though a little careless in regards to the attendants), the full day lake tour (an absolute must do, the most interesting trip in my opinion and the reason for my whole journey to Thailand), and also to the bamboo rafting and canoeing on the local river. All activities were delivered with great care and I think this is one of a lifetime experience. On the downside of things, unfortunately advance booking is a must, and you might have troubles if you are a solo traveller. I was told straightforwardly that some excursions are not supposed to be arranged for 1 person and since noone else booked them, I could not book them either. The option of double price for some reason was not offered. So I think the key is to arrange everything in advance. Secondly, please mind that Rafflesia blooms only during a certain time of the year - namely, from December to March, so the excursion to see it is only available during this period. It was a bit disappointing that when I messaged the hotel prior to my booking to ask about it, they said that the period is from November, and that they would need to check with the National park team every time, so they would know for sure if the flower is there only once I arrive. When I arrived they said it did not even make sense to check, because it is too early. But that might be just a slight misunderstanding. In any way, the booked acitvities were superb. Also, it is probably worth mentioning that the area is not as wild as it may seem from the descriptions. Yes, it is right in the jungles and there is only a 15 minutes walk towards the National park entrance, but there are quite a lot of other hotels around and a small village nearby (I would recommend to visit it a least once and have a meal there - the hotel restaurant has a limited selection of dishes and closes at 8 pm). It is a pretty comfortable and safe walk, so I felt really peaceful there. Also, just so you know: the National park actually has some big predators like a puma, but you definitely will not see them during your trip to Our Jungle Camp. Our guide explained that all the big animals stay much deeper in the forests and the Camp is way too on the edge. So your options would be monkeys, lizards, snakes, frogs, etc. (I did not see any snakes on the territory, but there are quite a lot of them in the jungles). All in all, I would say that the general experience is something else. Defintiely come visit if you are looking for something different.…
Quite original jungle experience. The food was very good as well the tubing in the river. room are basic but clean. the team was very helpful and nice and even though we did changes to our plans last minutes they helped with arranging everything.
We booked 1 earth house and 1 tree house. The resort is situated on the borders of the Khao Sok National Park so you are basically in the jungle. The cottages have the roofs but there is a space between the roofs and the walls so you can hear and enjoy the jungle. And it is beautiful. The accomodation is simple, nice and clean.I believe it is primarily targeted for the nature lovers. If you are not the one then do not go there. Breakfast is served in the restaurant and you can choose from several options. You can also have lunch and dinner there. The camp can arrange the tours for you but it is a bit expensive. You can aslo arrange it by yourself or walk 15 minutes too the main streets and find some tour operators there. The staff is very kind and helpful.I would definitely come back.
Very nice experience at the hotel with very attentive staff. The room and the surrounding facilities was beautiful and you really felt you were with nature in the jungle. I highly recommend staying at this place when visiting Khao sok national oark
Spent a superb few days at the Camp, staying in one of the tree houses overlooking the river. Great food, friendly and helpful staff, and all activities can be organised through the reception. Whether floating down the river, washing elephants, visiting the park, or simply enjoying a Thai massage, everything was relaxing and stress free. Wish we had stayed longer.
We had a great stay at this resort. Staff was very nice, always friendly and helpful, everything was on time, well-organized. Rooms were clean, as nice as in the photos, the camp is beautiful, nice nature immersion. The trips offered were all good and fun. I definitely recommend participating in some of the trips/activities, in the camp itself there is not a ton of stuff to do for many days (at least not for me). The price of the acommodation is great, very low, however you need to include food (more exp because it's a tourist area), transport from airport etc.
It has been such a wonderful stay here in Our Jungle Camp. The site was gorgeous, the bungalows beautiful , the food in the restaurant excellent and the staff helped me book a tour and my next transfer. Would recommend it to everyone.
We stayed at Our Jungle Camp for two nights whilst visiting Khao Sok National Park in August. We’re a family with two small kids, so we need things to go smoothly, traveling with kids being as demanding as it is. And Our Jungle Camp delivered smoothness & comfort! Our bungalow may have looked ‘jungly’ at first sight, but it had all the amenities we needed: hot water, a silent fan, smooth floors for the toddler to crawl on, and soft bedding. We loved falling asleep to the sound of the jungle and the fresh air & waking up to the lush greenery view from our terrace. There was a restaurant (two in fact) on the premises where we could get fairly priced vegan meals for the kids. Moreover, there are dozens of activities there to occupy the kids: from shelter building to planting at the little farm to day-long excursions and nature education to tubing down the river with local guides. Our family particularly enjoyed the 20-minute nature trail (the trail started literally at our doorstep) and swimming in the fantastic river beach underneath the massive limestone cliff that’s in the area of Our Jungle House bungalows (which is connected to the Our Jungle Camp property through a small trail when you follow the river). We even encountered friendly monkeys at the river which the kids loved. A great stay, especially for families, highly recommended!…
