I had an amazing experience at the Mashpi Lodge with my family as an add-on trip to a Galapagos adventure. The lodge provided a unique combination of eco-tourism with stunning accommodations. The guides were extremely knowledgable - we really appreciated the fact that the professional guides were paired with local guides who grew up in the area. Our local guide,... More

My family of four spent four days/three nights at Mashpi Lodge and had a great time. The lodge's website describes the facilities and activities very well. We enjoyed the hikes, birdlife, butterfly center, spa offerings and the staff. Our guide Nestor was outstanding. In the dining room the food was tasty, and there were many entree/bread/dessert options for my gluten-free... More

This is simply a very cool, amazing and romantic place. Far beyond the other worldly surroundings, the staff was outstanding and the guides were passionate and extremely knowledgeable about their surroundings. We went for 2 nights and that is probably about the right amount of time to experience the nature reserve unless you want to unwind and relax a bit... More

No elephants and lions in this place , but the number of bird strikes by its diversity! excellent guides, very cool station for bird watching and butterfly farm! fascinating walks through the jungle, a trip on the cable car among the treetops! special attention is the food! above all... I don't know if I can realistically express, in words, what it is like to experience Mashpi... A bit of heaven on earth?...A mind altering experience?...The closest I've come to real perfection?...I suppose all of this, and more. Mashpi Ecolodge is located in the Equatorial Chocó Bio-Region, regarded as one of the planet’s most important “hot spots” of biodiversity and... More

Fernando Arias was our Naturalist Guide. I have done birding all over the world and Fernando was as good a birding guide as I've ever had. He was also superb with photography! The resort itself was spectacular, the food excellent, and the service extraordinary. The birding is the best in the world

We arrived after a three hour drive from downtown Quito and were greeted with a cool drink and wet towel (as was the case after every subsequent return from an activity). We were fortunate to be upgraded to a superior room that had windows to the forest on two sides with a luxury bathroom and fittings - definitely five star... More

This is the most wondrful place. The last section of the drive here is bumpy but all thoughts of that fly away as one is welcomed by everyone from the manager down with a smile and a personal greeting. The Lodge is beautifully ffurnished and with one wall of glass is quite magical. None of the rooms are overlooked, othee... More

We cannot recommend this amazing experience highly enough. We stayed three nights which enabled us to manage most of the trails -voyaging into the cloud forest, swimming in waterfalls- a must, to traversing the forest on the zip wire and visiting the hummingbird stations. All the guides were so knowledgeable about the environment, being able to explain and show all aspects... More
