Majestic Valley Lodge, mile 114.9 on the Glenn Hwy, is located at a convenient stopping point along the scenic Glenn Hwy (half way between Palmer and Glennallen) and the elevation is just under 3000 feet. The 7000 square foot hand scribed log lodge overlooks two spectacular mountain ranges: the Talkeetnas and the Chugach. Hiking trails abound; arrange for flight seeing, glacier trekking or river rafting. Free Wireless. Satelite TV. Beer and wine bar. Advance reservation for creatively prepared dinners using fresh ingredients and Alaskan seafood. Full course breakfasts are available and may be reserved upon check-in. The chef and staff provide wonderful meals with the individual's dietary needs in mind. The coffee pot is always ready to brew that freshly ground cup of coffee w/ creamer for those guests that enjoy kicking back on the covered porch to watch the wilderness unfold. Adjacent to the lodge is a small bush airstrip, so watching the planes come in for landings is also eventful.

This lodge is truly exceptional! On a tour of Alaska we got to know many different accommodations, but here everything is a little better. Everything is solidly built and technically perfectly equipped - nothing has been spared here. The main house is an impressive, huge log cabin that you can't get enough of.

Some of the guest rooms are also located in an older building next door, which is a little more simply equipped, but still very good by Alaskan standards. During our stay (Aug. 2023), another large log cabin was built, which will certainly contain more wonderful rooms.

The host speaks perfect German, which was of course very practical for our German group. He worked as a ski instructor in Garmisch-Partenkirchen for many years.

It is important that you ask him in advance exactly what services are currently offered (restaurant, etc.). The main season here is the ski season (heli-skiing), which is why there is sometimes a little less service during the rest of the year. In our case, the boss had given the entire staff a few days off so that they could really relax at the annual "Alaska State Fair" in Palmer. As a result, the restaurant was closed, but we were prepared and had brought everything with us. Of course, we were allowed to use the great restaurant and the boss himself stood behind the bar.

If you don't want to cook or make breakfast yourself, you'll find the "Sheep Mountain Lodge" a few minutes further west on the highway, which has a lovely restaurant.

On our next trip, "Majestic Valley" will definitely be one of our destinations again!

We stayed one night in the Coyote Cabin and it was a nice set up for a family of 4. Not fancy but it provided everything we needed. Each bed on each side of the bathroom offered a little privacy between the beds. The cabin is not large, but you want to spend your time outside on the grass, on the hammock, or in the beautiful garden right in front of the cabin anyway. It's only a short 30 second walk to the main inn where dinner is served. Your only choices is the 3 course dinner they're serving that night, though they do offer a vegetarian option as well. It's a laid back atmosphere but the food was exceptional! We were a little concerned with two teens, not picky eaters, but not knowing the menu ahead of time was concerning. They served Moroccan chicken and couscous and It was one of the best meals we enjoyed while in Alaska, we were pleasantly surprised. Everyone working there was very friendly. We didn't eat breakfast there because we left before they served. However, you could help yourself to tea, coffee and hot chocolate.

Beautifully set in the mountains with 360 degree picture views, with lots of outdoor seating on the deck. Log cabin dining and reception area are very charming. The breakfast buffet has typical warm food options such as eggs, meats and potatoes, and also fresh fruit, baked goods, granola, yogurt, and espresso drinks. There is also a nice bar and 4 beers on tap. The outdoor hot tub was perfect after a hike. It’s a 15 minute drive to Matanuska Glacier, where we did a glacier hike. And the staff were amazing. They made you feel welcome, were accommodating, and gave good tips and ideas for things to do in the area. There is also a fire pit outside - a great place to get cozy at sunset.

This place has so much potential. The view is incredible, the property is beautiful, and the lodge itself was great. We stayed in the main lodge and were happy with the experience.

That being said, they advertised there would be a fire pit every night on their website. We asked about it and they refused to allow a fire pit because “they had just cut up wood for a wedding the next weekend” (this was a Wednesday). There wasn’t a manager there the entire time we were there, so we tried to say that our bed was broken (the boxspring totally down on one side) when we checked out but still there wasn’t someone available.

They offered a very delicious dinner and breakfast (not included but a fair price). The service at these was awful, especially at dinner where the bartender fiddled around with a too long wine list and had no idea what to do when I ordered some wine.

This place has so much potential to be one of the premier resorts of Alaska, not even in the area. My family and I were just so disappointed because we were looking for a relaxed, lodge experience and definitely didn’t get it.

We booked our stay based on the reviews, pictures, and location to the glacier, but do not be misled. When we booked our trip, it stated that we can request to have a 3-course dinner at the lodge and that the inn is committed to cleanliness especially during Covid.
We called the night before to confirm that we on the list to receive a dinner since no one called us and confirmed our meal selection. When we called, the person on the phone said we were on the dinner list; and when I asked what was on the menu, he stated it would most likely be fish since the inn received a large order of fresh-caught fish.
The day we arrived, a young man just showed us to our room in a building outside the main inn that was definitely not cleaned meticulously as they stated on their website. The shelf my husband put his bag on had a thick layer of dust and the exhausted fan had layers of dust and dirt that look like it was not touched in over a year. Not one person, even the person checking us in, mentioned anything about the inn faculties or dinner.
Around 7:30pm, we went to main inn and found that there was a large party waiting for burgers and hotdogs. No one again said anything to us as we stood there and look confused. We then went to the bar and a young man there said this is menu for tonight. We then talked to the manager and he stated that yes this is the menu since there a wedding party staying at the lodge and this what they were eating. However, no one told us this. They told us the menu is what is, but they would not charge the 35 dollars a head- instead only $18 a head for burgers and hotdogs. We decided to stay and eat as there really was not where to go. The chef came out and talked to us after we ate and was the only one who tried to make it right and offered to cook us some seafood.
The wedding party staying there pretty much took over the firepit and inn so we really could not enjoy the setting. This could have been communicated to us beforehand. Overall, the setting is beautiful, but the inn lacks committing to its word and lack care for guest not part of the wedding party. Recommend driving back to Palmer than staying there.

So everyone has their own criteria to determine what makes a great lodging experience. For me, the people and atmosphere get the highest weightings. MVWL had the most helpful and accommodating team I have encountered in recent memory. Cal and Anthony set the high bar for customer service. We also met the owner, and along with Cal and Anthony, we had engaging conversations about the location, Alaska, adventure and travels.

Our room in Glacier Hall was basic and functional, but not luxurious. It didn't matter, because the view, lodge and property was so great. Although we didn't take advantage of all the amenities, there were several (hot tub, fire pit, etc.). We stayed on the last night of the summer season (9/14/2022). The Heli-Ski season begins in February, which sounds like a great reason to return.

There is also an airstrip adjacent to the property, with several planes based there. Additionally, MVWL is very close to Matanuska Glacier.

Thanks again to the team at MVWL.

We communicated with the Lodge ahead of time because we have a daughter in a heavy electric wheelchair and knew there were no ADA rooms. Via Zoom with Anthony we were able to choose the room closest to what we need. Njord, the owner, built a long outside ramp to the lobby/main-room on the second floor, just for us. He also modified the entrance to our room for access. The staff was wonderful. The chef does magic with the local salmon. And the views incredible. Very fun and relaxing place with family.

The place is amazing and I would definitely recommend anybody to visit it. We stayed there for two nights and were lucky that there were no wedding at the time. I can see that it might be a little bit uncomfortable when there is another party going on. We stayed in main lodge (room #11) it was nice room but you could hear when people walk one floor above. The food was delicious (especially pork dinner) and the whole crew was so nice, friendly and helpful. We had some drinks at the bar and it was nice to talk with crew and other guests over Old Fashion. We had a blast there!

The lodge is in a beautiful location. The deck is a great place to soak in the views. We stayed in a room in the main lodge and it was very nice with a large well equipped bathroom. The people working at the lodge were very friendly and helpful. The dinners were fabulous! Stay here if you have a chance.

Hubby and I enjoyed our 2 night stay at this lodge. The views were beautiful.
We were out most of the day and our dinners were in nearby restaurants. But, we did enjoy their breakfast buffet. The staff were all friendly and helpful. I enjoyed a glass of wine on their deck in the evening while enjoying the views. The room reminded me of cabins in the national parks we visited, it was clean and comfy. We had 2 beds and a bathroom, there was a public area with the fridge and a keurig coffee maker. I would stay again.
