Hacienda Uayamon is situated within easy reach of the Maya ruins of Edzna and the walled town of Campeche, Hacienda Uayamon provides a peaceful retreat in a classic colonial setting. The historic house has 12 luxurious villa rooms and suites with beamed ceilings and tiled floors; international restaurant, unique event space, outdoor pool and SPA. With big gardens surrounded and incomparable nature and a 300 year old Ceiba tree at the front of the Hacienda
A Historic Hacienda now set aside for EcoTourism--Check it out!
Brought to you in part by the Rainforest Alliance and the Marriot chain… The purpose behind restoring the Hacienda, which was built in the 1700s was noble: “to create new opportunities for our local communities while contributing to the balance between the environment, cultural values, social welfare, and sustainable economic development.”
When I arrived at the Hacienda, I felt transported back in time to Gabriel García Marquez and his One Hundred Years of Solitude. Originally, the hacienda raised cattle, then switched to corn, cane, natural dye, and agave—from which hennekin was made, for ropes and for hats. If you are fortunate to visit, you will find charming small houses where you can stay overnight. They have tall ceilings, fans and air conditioning when summer heat arrives. They also have warm showers and deep tubs. The wait staff are quite receptive and respectful—both at the Reception area and at the restaurant in the Hacienda. Treat yourself to breakfast at the hacienda while the birds awaken and the sun pours through the fronds. If you get as far as Campeche, you should call a taxi or van to the Hacienda. Be sure to bring currency if you need it…or rely upon credit card. If you wish to go to Edzna, they can phone a cab to take you there and then either bring you back to the Hacienda or to Campeche. For that you will need pesos. Truly, an uncommon experience

While this hacienda (part of the 5 haciendas which are in the Luxury Collection of Marriott) is fairly isolated, it is still an excellent base to visit Maya ruins at Edzna and the small costal city of Campeche.
Founded 300 years ago, but with building dating mostly from the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century, this hacienda is filled with history. At one time, it was bursting with activities as many local people were working to produce dyes sold in Europe. Many buildings, including the factory and the chapel, are now in ruins but can still be visited, giving a unique atmosphere to that hotel.
A beautiful pool is found in another ruin, creating the impression that soaking in there brings you back to the past… I really had the impression of bathing in a Roman bath house!
The restaurant is located in the main building, overlooking the deep jungle. Beautiful settings with cocktail bar and library, as well as two outdoor terrasses. The food was very nice (without being gastronomic), but the cocktails were simply amazing.
Our room was located… in an old charity hospital! Very high ceiling and beautiful furniture.
Those historical settings have a cost… on one night we had no hot water, while internet was unavailable in the room for most of our stay.
If you want a typical luxury hotel experience, go somewhere else. If you want to experience something extraordinary - this is a place to stay. The rooms are located in staff apartments, not in the main building, so to go to the pool or restaurant, you need to walk through the jungle. The ruins and grounds are great to explore. There are many insects around (and sadly also in) the pool, but there are also flocks of bright yellow butterflies flying. Menu is limited, food was OK, not great, prices affordable. We arrived there early, even before noon, were prepared to wait, but we got the room immediately. We stayed for one night and loved it.

Hacienda Uayamon: The pool and the buildings on the grounds!…they are a work of art such old and historic architecture! We came specifically to see and experience the pool at Hacienda Uayamon - we were not disappointed! The location!… unique in the peaceful and fascinating jungle a 15 min walk from a typical village of the Yucatán Peninsula. Many of the people speak Mayan here. The staff! From the concierge Jenny, to sweet and professional lady in her beautiful huipil at reception, to the restaurant and housekeeping staff- kind, welcoming, and helpful! We have stayed at all 5 Haciendas of the Bonvoy Luxury Collection, and we like to tell people that “Now we can die”. ☺️ Thank you Hacienda Uayamon!

This is a unique place in the middle of the forest. You can enjoy the experience of being really in the hart of nature but in style. Unluckily while we were there it never stopped raining so the place was really saddening. Probably, had I experienced a sunny day my evaluation would’ve been a 5+

Hacienda Uayamon is so beautiful. We were there for the weekend and love every minute of it. We got to enjoy nature in a peaceful environment. Service was fabulous! Only recommendation is to add more dishes to the menu. Coconut ice cream was delicious!

Listed as a luxury collection hotel at $250 per night there is nothing luxury and nothing Marriott about this property. It is basic, rustic, unpainted, electric sockets hanging off walls and they have no idea how to cook a hamburger. The redeeming factor is the jungle and nature but I pad for a luxury hotel - not a luxury jungle. The staff are fine - the property is overpriced, overstated and a complete con. No USB charges in rooms and no telephone network coverage.

Not what it says on the tin..... whilst we had a pleasant stay here, it wasnt what we were expecting. Plus points; * Interesting and unique step back in time with fascinating 'ruins' of the original hacienda * Quaint and spacious individual stand alone rooms * Lovely deep plunge pool bath * Personal day bed outside * Lovely little frog friend living in the shower * Stylish pool (but limited sun) Negative points * lackadaisical attitude of the staff at dinner and breakfast * Dinner, whilst OK, was completely underwhelming - was expecting some gastronic finesse, but was totally lacking * Breakfast was different on both mornings - fruit included one day, but not the other We booked because of previous reviews about being shown around and told about the history of the place. We got none of this. This is a Bonvoy luxury collection hotel. It seems the expected standards haven't been explained to the staff. We left feeling we'd only scratched the surface of what was potentially there, but wasn't really offered to us. Disappointed because we were expecting more. We booked this as some RnR time during a hectic tour of the Yucutan peninsular, thinking we would spend some quality pool and spa time here. Didnt seem particularly inviting. As an aside, we stayed here in order to access Campeche. Its an easy 15 minutes to get there.…

In appearance this is a luxury hotel but it's full of details that doesn't match. First, the premises need a lot of maintenance. And I mean a lot! Since the hotel is inside an old "Hacienda" and it is inside a natural reserve, the place is full is insects. Is you are arachnophobic, this is not a place for you... Rooms are not well fumigated so expect to find many spiders. I had to ask front desk to provide me a RAID to keep the room clean. Rooms also need a lot of maintenance... Bathroom furnitures are old and notoriously damaged. Shower faucet has pressure problems and hot/cold water constantly changes, so expect to have a very hot water stream followed by a very cold water one during all your shower. Food is good, and people are kind but is not enough to consider this place a Luxury Hotel. Other thing to consider is that notwithstanding under Mexican law all prices should be published taxes included, the place doesn't do it, so expect an additional 16% over the final prices. An extra 5% of service is charged (they say is for tips, so don't feel bad for not tipping with every service, they will charge you extra anyways). Bring medicine supplies, the place is not far from the city but there is no pharmacy in the near and there is no cellphone signal, just WiFi provided by the hotel. If you are insect bites allergic bring anthistaminics. Lots of sun block as well. …

Pretty sad , we arrived at 1:30 and asked at the reception if we could get a tour of the hacienda and the receptionists said yes of course. You should first have your Lunch and then we will happily give you a tour. At 3:00pm after lunch I asked if we could now take the tour and the mangers at reception said o I am sorry no tours after 3:00pm🤣🤣🤣. Sadly this property is amazing it is super beautiful but the staff at this high end boutique hotel are extremely incompetent. Great place to stay if you don’t mind bad service 🙃 with an expensive price tag !!!

A friend and I stayed at this property for three nights in November this year. It is certainly a gorgeous property - it is an old hacienda from the 1700s that was now turned into a beautiful boutique hotel. In doing so, they did not over-renovate, but kept the partial decay for instanced at the gorgeous pool in an old factory hall or the chapel where you can hold weddings today. This really adds to the awesome character! Rooms as well were gorgeous with all amenities you expect from a hotel in this range. Especially the bathroom was a highlight - extremely stylish with a huge bathtub. And to complement the interior, they have a huge roofed relaxation area outside. Staff was generally very friendly and eager to help. So why only 4/5? Well, I guess there were various points that somewhat dampened the otherwise awesome impression: - service at the restaurant was rather hit and miss. While one (the most senior) waiter was awesome, i.e. friendly, professional and a real people-person, the other one seemed very introvert and somewhat lacking training (just putting a tablet with our plates on the table so we could serve ourselves instead of putting the plates on our spots, no chatting at all) - English skills were generally very poor with the client-facing staff (with one or two exceptions) - from hotels in this range, I would expect more - we ordered room service one day and everything was delivered in plastic boxes instead of real plates - also not worthy for such a hotel. Probably they‘ll use Corona as an excuse... - Mixed drinks were a disgrace. Please get a professional to at least draw up some recipes that the staff can then implement. Also, I would have liked a range of more higher-end spirits for sipping - house keeping is only on demand (a Corona measure). So far that‘s okay, but you really had to chase them to actually do it - status recognition is rather poor. I‘m a Marriott Ambassador and they didn‘t even talk about potential upgrades or the choice of points, etc. They also did not credit the welcome points, so I guess I will have to chase them now... - quality of the food was so-so - sometimes great, sometimes just mediocre at best Since the rate we paid was more than okay (around 150USD++), I guess some of theses shortcomings are acceptable. So I‘d probably give it another shot after Corona!…
