We found out about "Delta Miraj" after it was recommended to us by friends who've been there. After checking reviews online and looking at photos we decided to book.

I can honestly say this was one of the best experiences. The owners are the warmest and kindest people you will ever meet, they advised us what trips to get, where to eat, how to get around.

They were above and beyond and quite frankly made our trip great.

The accomodations are top notch, the rooms are great and you have everything you need.

The pool area is a great place to relax and enjoy some cocktails as well as the deck overlooking the Danube where you can spend the evening watching the sun set and enjoying some wine.

Combine the above with a trip through the canals where you'll see splendid one of a kind sights, incredible wildlife. Nature at its best.

We can't recommend this place enough. We are definitely coming back.

Hotel is located a few minutes walk from Sulina city, with its own river platform where you embark you boat or drink the coffee. you feel hospitality of owners. Breakfast was diverse with more choices than in other places. Easy and fast connection to get to the Black sea beach in Sulina by taxi. Otherwise you may enjoy swimming pool as well.

First of all, the owners are GREAT! Thank you Marius and Adi! Staff very friendly, willing to give a good service 24/24!.
The transport to Sulina it can be done through a fast boat from Tulcea. The owner, Mr. Marius has done everything for us to feel comfortable .... even when we got there everything was at our request. The fast boat schedule, the transport at the pension and retur was solved perfectly by him. I am in love with Sulina and the owners of this nice mini hotel because is more then a pension …..made me and feel this whay.

The room was very clean, also the entire pension… always hot water in the shower, nice mini bar, Tv…nice design, nice furniture. The staff clean the room and change sheets every day. There are screens in the rooms and anti-bugs traps on the terrace but I didn't saw any mosquitos anyway in may!

Everything is allowed on request.

The owners also organizes boat excursions on the Delta for bird watching and to visit the beauty of the natural reserves, with very welcoming and professional staff . We went in a great boat trip along Danube Delta with Alexandru (one of the "shipmasters" from the pension, a real great guy) and we felt safe with him especially that we went out with kids.(it s important to travel in safe there). We discovered the Hapiness Island (a real unique and sublime place there). Was a real pleasure to make those trips.
The pension also offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food is very good, with local fish on the menu. Was a special menu for the Easter Day, painted eggs, drinks, traditional roast lamb..everything was beyond my expectation.
I felt relaxed , happy all day, I had things to visit , Black Sea is very close. They have bus to go there, taxi or bike...I really felt like home. Really , everything was absolutely gorgeous!. Thank you.

We stayed 10 nights in this hotel and I must confess it was a very nice holiday. In short: the stay at Delta Miraj exceeded our expectations.

And now some details.

Transport: from Tulcea to Sulina we took a fast boat (1.5h). Be careful: this is not a pleasure trip, out on the deck, to walk around and take pictures. For that experience there’s another boat, slower, it takes 3-4 hours: we’ve decided we’ll use it some other time. It is advisable to book tickets in advance and to carry a reasonable amount of luggage: space onboard is rather limited (it looks like a bus inside).

We’ve left the car in the parking of the Delta Hotel from Tulcea, 20 RON / day (~ 4.50 Euro), and we’ve found it intact upon our return.

The comfortable minivan belonging to Delta Miraj was waiting for us and took us to the guesthouse. Same procedure 10 days later, when we departed.

There is a public transport station right in front of the hotel gates, a minibus passes every 30 minutes all day long, 1.5 RON / pers (0.35 Eur). The advantage is that you could always find a seat on your way to the city or further on to the beach. Upon returning from the beach we sometimes preferred taking a cab, ~15-16 RON / car (3.5 Eur). Taxi drivers are nice and sometimes agree, with no additional charge, to make a short stop and purchase postcards or stamps, for example.

The location: the hotel is situated on the Danube right bank, at the Western end of Sulina: it gives you the feeling of a paradise corner. We’ve spend several evenings, watching the sunset among the willows that cover the pontoon, enjoying some peaceful, romantic moments.

Accommodation: The rooms are very clean, with modern furnishings, well maintained, tastefully decorated, of a comfortable size, equipped with air conditioning, refrigerator, satellite TV, and a modern bathroom. The windows are fitted with mosquito nets so no annoying mosquitos inside. The room provides anti-mosquito devices (nice touch from the hosts), but we didn’t use them. The power supply is also modern: a card (attached to the door key ring) cuts electricity when you leave the room. However, the fridge stays on permanently.

Pool: as a welcome bonus, the hotel has a swimming pool, 10m x 5m and 1.4m deep, which allows you to swim or just chill if you didn’t go to the beach. We took advantage of the pool loungers and the pool during some afternoons, mainly on the days when we were cruising the Delta in the morning. According to our hosts, is the only accomodation in Sulina for the time being that has a pool (it became functional in June 2013). The guesthouse offers towels for the sunbeds, kept in a cupboard on the terrace. Tables, chairs and even ashtrays are at hand.

Internet access: at the bar there’s a free WiFi area. There I dealt with my emails once a day, accompanied by a coffee or a something cold.

Food: we chose the half-board (breakfast and dinner), for we wanted freedom of movement during the day, but we have had a few lunches as well. Lunch consists of three dishes (soup, main course and dessert) and dinner consists of two courses (main and dessert). It’s based on a large variety of fish, which seems only natural. However every morning the staff checks if you would like to have lunch or would prefer something different apart from the menu of the day (this may include chicken, beef, pork, etc). We often wanted something and each time we were served with a smile.

The two cooks are brilliant: the menus are absolutely delicious. I am not a great lover of fish (unlike my wife): however, for 10 days we ate fish only, both for lunch and dinner (different ones and made to lick your fingers clean). And I could have continued! Price and taste are way better than in fancy restaurants in bigger cities in the area. The service is impeccable: the two waiters, Mihai and Petrica, spoil you all day long with their smiles.

Mosquitoes: here we are, in our first holiday in the Danube Delta, filled with stories about mosquitoes and armed with Autan creams / sprays against them :) Morning mosquitoes disappeared before we went out for breakfast on the terrace (between 8 and 8:30 am). During the day, no sign of mosquitoes. In the evening mosquitoes came back only after 20h00, moment where we left the terrace on the pontoon and entered the restaurant. After the first few days I was no longer using anti-mosquito creams. In 10 days I have been bitten about three times.

The Sulina beach: another bonus. We planned a vacation in the Delta and we found in addition a fine sandy beach, not crowded, with sunbeds and umbrellas for rent (15 lei per day per person). Beach bar with no waiting queue - beer, coffee, ice cream all at few meters from the sunbeds. Two terraces on the beach, again not crowded, with tables in the shade and pleasant music in the background where we usually had lunch (again all sorts of fish, sometimes with polenta and garlic sauce). They also serve chicken, grills, etc. but we didn’t try.

Excursions: the guesthouse organizes two trips: the Red Lake (50 lei / person) and at the mouth of the Danube, Gulf Musura and other channels (60 or 80 lei / person). I recommend both, and if you take the longest to Golf Musura, it has some extra channels, including one that is exactly the width of the boat – quite exciting! During both trips Alex, the boat driver, will show you all kinds of beauties (cormorants, swans, pelicans, white and yellow water lilies, etc). In my opinion, the two trips are sufficient, but also necessary to really get the taste of the Delta. The guesthouse organizes fishing trips, there were some tourists taking advantage of them, but we did not go.

I will end with the strong point: the owners/hosts, Mrs. Adriana and Mr. Marius. From booking until departure, they behaved with professionalism and competence. They respect their clients, put out their soul into what they do, and from morning till night they try to satisfy all requests (read whims, sometimes :) of their customers, rising well above the 3 stars on the firmament of the guesthouse. This opinion is also shared by our friends (we were as a group of two mature couples without children).

All in all the following saying fits like a glove to the whole Delta Miraj team: "First you give first from what you have; after a while you give from what you are." A big thank you to all of you!

When you put passion and diligence in what you do, the result can only be awesome. It is the case of the Ionita family, the owners of Delta Miraj, a marvelous place that conquered our hearts from the first seconds – a dream location on the Danube’s Sulina channel far enough from the downtown, yet very accessible; spacious and spotless rooms; delicious seafood; impeccable service; a great opportunity to add also a cultural dimension to your trip as Mr. Ionita is an encyclopedia in the history of the place and the time spent talking to him is for sure very well spent. Our only regret was that we spent too little time here. We are looking forward to return!
Marta & Florin

Omul sfinteste locul atunci cand pune pasiune si seriozitate in ceea ce face.

Dream Pension , great location next to the Danube , special people and high services. We arrived in Sulina by fast ship ( 1 ½ hours ) , and we were picked up from the marina by the pension owner with the pension minibus. We were delighted with the manner of Mr. Marius , that before we drive to the hostel , we took a city tour , showing us the sights and the beach , unfortunately the only paved road.

Although the guest house is approx. 2 km from the center , this has been an advantage for us , with quiet , relaxation , privacy , in a word clean of the city bustle and madness .

Room where we were staying was on the 2nd floor overlooking the Danube and in the morning we witnessed a fascinating sunrise . In fact I read that in Sulina the sun rises first , being the most easterly point in Romania . The room was spacious , solid wood furniture , LCD , air conditioning, minibar , and decorated with a beautiful wallpaper behind the bed.

We ate in the pension restaurant , and of course as big fans of fish, we were spoiled with delicious food ( fish soup , brine carp , catfish grilled with rosemary potatoes ) cooked perfectly .

Due to the short time that we spent in Sulina ,we could not enjoy the outdoor pool guest house , located in the back yard flanked by wooden sunshades and sun beds .

Pension atmosphere was relaxing and friendly and civilized among tourists , who are from other countries .

The trip we made with motorboat headed by Alexander, '' captain '' pension exceeded all expectations : pelicans , cormorants , kingfishers , herons , chickens, swans, white and yellow water lilies . What could we want more, time seamed to be standing still and we were in another world .

We loved Sulina and we are eager to go back as soon as we have the chance in this superb location with wonderful people. DELTA MIRAJ !

We had a very pleasant and adventurous extended weekend at Delta Miraj. The pension is beautiful, with a very nice pontoon , a pool and restaurant for guests. The owners picked us up from the port and arrange the transportation to the pension. We took 2 trips ,organized by the owners, by boat to the Danube Canal and was absolutely amazing :vegetation, birds, mouth of the Danube, the island of happiness and of course, the Black Sea.
I really recommend the guesthouse and its owners becasue they get it right for their customers: accommodation, food, excursions!
