Our hotel comprises of 40 spacious rooms ranging from standard to deluxe that have been designed according to the needs of families, groups, etc. Each room is 2-bed with extra mattress available when necessary. We give special attention to cleanliness in the rooms and washrooms. There is also sufficient parking available within the hotel premises.
This resort is part of the same resort chain that has a resort in Skardu, however, this one is small. Located just short of Raikot Bridge towards Chilas side, the resort has only few basic rooms and a restaurant. Rooms used to be good few years back but haven't been maintained and are now quite ordinary. Restaurant is ok and can provide the basic food. Its a good stopover on KKH before Gilgit, if you are coming from Babusar Pass side but nothing more. Unless one has to go to Fairy Meadows, there is not point staying just an hour and a half from Gilgit. Seeing the quality of service, rates are quite steep.

Our experience was marred by noisy young children banging doors throughout the night. The standard rooms are spacious & clean, with effective desert coolers, food and service are above average as are the gardens & views.

Shangrila, Chillas has a nostalgic beauty to it, however it’s sort of depressing. The best part is the balcony sort just behind the hotel which gives a view to serene river Indus. Mountains aren’t all green either though, but having a cup of tea or kehwa would be nice there. Food was okay-ish. Well, I DREADED the bathrooms. Shower was not working and it was a huge turn off. Food 5/10 - Rooms 5/10 - Bathrooms 3/10 - Food 6/10 - Security 9/10 - Ps. Security is all that matters in Chillas. Hence, my title!

Its a pretty decent hotel at a safe location in Chillas. We stayed for two nights here while going and coming back from Hunza and had a comfortable stay both times. The staff is pretty helpful even though their booking procedure is a bit tricky as we had to call to three different persons for confirming a room. The specially designed rooms with a traditional design are quite nice. The internet was unstable throughout the stay but we managed to be in touch with our family when we needed to.The food we believe was a little too expensive for the quality offered. We ordered breakfast for two which was around 700 per person yet we were served an ordinary breakfast with limited options. The normal sachet coffee served at rs 400 which we thought was really expensive. Overall it was a…

Our rooms opened into a beautiful garden facing the serene Indus river which made our stay an absolutely soulful and joyous experience. The room was fine, neat and clean with all basic necessities available.

We had booked into the VIP room. It was dark, dreary & depressing...go for the Regular rooms..they are more cheerful though not that private but probably better value for money. The G.M. Mr. Shamoon was most helpful & even opened up a room for us to freshen up on our way back. We had breakfast on the front lawn which was wonderful. The waiter has been there for ages & had a lot to share about the local experiences. The wifi was average. I would not stay here again as I don't think we got value for our money.

If you do stopover in Chilas, you can do worse than stay at the Shangrila, which bears no relation to the famous luxury hotel chain in Asia, by the way. This local Shangrila is a located on a rise overlooking the Indus river below. It is a local, low-rise, sand-coloured hotel with quaint, cave-like rooms: the tables, chairs, bed stand are moulded rather than being separate pieces. Bright ethnic colours and fabic decorate the rooms, which have an unusual ventilator fan instead of air-conditioning for cooling. The bathroom is covered in slate and can be a bit dark. There's an outdoor garden with a view overlooking the river and mountains across the river. Dining area is long with glass windows on one side. The hotel is located away from the main town, but there are small…

Shangrila resort hotel Chilas is a very impressive location on the banks of mighty River The Indus. Mud houses block is perfectly match with building code. Very delicious meal and nice cozy rooms. Hotel staff is friendly and caring. we also visited ancient rock carving near by the hotel.

The hotel itself was With beautiful river view, u can never get enough of it. Food was ok, we had buffet which was part of tour plan. Rooms were ok. Privacy issue yes, windows, even the cooler was seethorugh. Wifi worked, i guess but slow. My foriegn bf was not allowed to leave hotel, probably due to the fact its high risk for them in chilas. And police and security are very strict about it. We weren't let out of shangrila. Guard was rrally strict about it. Interior was cool.

Sharing the belt of River Indus one would expect scenic views from their hotel windows and naturally lit dining halls. Shangrila Resort is nothing like you had in mind while signing up for this journey. Ambiance is dark and shady, which can be treated with lights very easily but I guess they are happy with whatever they are getting our of their outdated property. Food is fine and the only thing good about this place. Pardon me if my reviews is mostly based on the ambiances of places. #architecturalmindset
